Series one of Doctor Who was the show's revival. We had last stepped foot in the Whoniverse in 1989, when the show was cancelled from lack of views, then 1996, with Paul McGann's Doctor in a full-length television movie. Doctor Who returned on the twenty-sixth of March, 2005 bigger, better, and quirkier than ever. Britain's favourite time-and-space-travelling, two-hearted alien was back. And this time, with a love interest. 

The series begins with a seemingly normal blonde girl living in London getting ready for work. Rose says goodbye to her mother and goes about the day as usual. At the end of her shift, she's going to see another employee when the viewer starts to feel something sinister in the air. Creepy music plays, the room is dark, and we see a mannequin start to move behind Rose's back. Just as she's about to get killed by one of the Autons (an inconic Doctor Who villain first shown in the classic series), she's rescued by an unknown man who appears out of nowhere. Before we know it, Rose and the Doctor are gallivanting about together and begin to travel through time and space.

This series introduces a new Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), a new companion (Billie Piper), and two new occasional companions (Noel Clarke and John Barrowman).
