introduction

Welcome, Whovians, old or new, to DWFanficRec's Doctor Who episode guide, run by warpdrive and nicoleshipt.

In this book, we'll be reviewing episodes from series one to nine in anticipation for Doctor Who's return in Christmas 2016, then series ten in Spring 2017.

Each series had around thirteen episodes, give or take a few with specials. Doctor Who's new era has had four Doctors so far: Christopher Eccleston, the man who brought the show back, he was the Doctor for only one series (the first); David Tennant, an iconic Doctor who made the show explode out of the U.K. and across the world, he played the role from 2005 to 2010 and made three series; Matt Smith, a quirky, fun-loving, slightly mad Doctor, he stepped into the role in 2010 and continued to 2013, having the privilege of being the Doctor during Doctor Who's explosive fiftieth anniversary; Peter Capaldi, the current Doctor, portrays the role as the Doctor ages, taking on a more mature touch while still being in tune to the Doctor's iconic quirky demeanour, he has had two series so far and it is speculated that the next will be his last.

Doctor Who is a brilliant show, being one of the only ones to span across all ages, nationalities, countries and peoples. It also holds the record for the longest running science fiction show to date (with 2016 being its 53rd year). I, for one, eagerly anticipate watching the one hundredth anniversary with my grandchildren all seated around me.

Each of the episodes in this guide will be rated out of five (but a one is really a five out of ten on a normal person's scale because Doctor Who is never that bad) and explained in depth with our own personal comments, feelings, and criticisms about the episode in question. We'll be summarizing each series before going into its episodes and explain any new Doctors or companions.

So, without further ado, here is our Doctor Who episode guide, starting with series one, episode one: Rose.
