The Doctor's P.O.V

'How could I have been so careless!? I've done it again. I have lost another one. Although, this has to be a new record. It's has only taken me about (glancing at watch) an hour and a half, I'm getting sloppy. Stop it Doctor! You have to focus. You have to save her.' I jumped when I heard heavy panting behind me.

"So Doctor what are we going to do?" Rory asked with a pointed stare. I think the look he was giving me meant the he also believed that Shadow's disappearance was my fault; I suppose he was right, it was my fault. I was the one who asked her to come with me, she was in my care. I should have looked out for her. She has gone through so much already in her short, miserable life. I remembered back to when we first landed on this planet. Something happened. It was like our minds connected. I could see and feel everything she had been through. So much pain. What she told me barely scratched the surface.

"Doctor! Are you even listening to me!?" Amy shrieked. Oh boy. Now I was in trouble. I've learnt, quite painfully may I add, that not listening to a woman is the worst thing you can ever do. I shot a worried glance a Rory who mirrored my look, as he knew how dangerous this could turn out if I said something wrong.

"Erm... Yes I was of course I was listening! I'm the king of listening! No don't call me that I'm the Doctor." I trailed off at the last bit as Amy grabbed a hold of my jacket.

"Doctor, it's not your fault. None of us knew this would happen, how are we going to find her?" she sighed, trying to look into my eyes but I could see that I wasn't the only that felt guilty about what happened.

Rory came up behind her and placed a loving hand on her shoulder. Amy finally let go of my jacket and dived into Rory's waiting arms. I watched on for a few moments before I heard a beeping sound.

"What's that?" Rory uttered confusion written on his face matching mine. Then it dawned on me. My sonic! I looked down to see that it had found a trace to whatever had taken Shadow. I began fiddling relentlessly trying to get a stronger reading as it was getting weaker by the minute.

"No no no don't you dare! Don't you dare!" I cried in desperation. Suddenly, the signal became stronger and I whooped in relief and dashed in the direction it was pointing.

"Come along Ponds! We don't have time to waste! We have to move before the creature's signal becomes too weak to follow!"

I heard footfalls following my footsteps knowing that they were following me.

usWhat I didn't know however, was that something else was watching, following us from deep with in the darkness.
