Despair is one of the worst pain in the world, it's like falling into an endless abyss where hope is the last flicker of light remaining in your sight, except right now it was gone. As if you had blown off the candle.
Thousands of incredulous thoughts rooted in your mind, your doubts overwhelming your mind until one thought remained: « You are weak ».
That is why at these moments, your insecurity was hundred times stronger and made you embrace your inner demons.
You do not deserve him. You are weak. Why would he love you? You're not worth it. You are nothing.
These dark mottos weakened your determination, tightening your doubts and making you hold the razor blades above your arm.
You who were so brave, fierce and strong had turned into the scared little girl you once were when you lost your way in life until, of course, you found Stephen. He was the light at the end of the tunnel, the sun to your days, the dream to your nightmares, he was everything. He held your heart in his hands and he had crushed it.
Christine had come over to see Stephen and she made it pretty clear she wanted him back. Gentle touches there, compliments here and jealousy had invaded your body. You tried to stay calm at her behaviour, taking a deep breath, clenching your fists and dropping hints as he was YOUR boyfriend, but nothing worked.
When Stephen had to leave for an important matter, Christine and you stayed in the same room, silently eyeing each other.
She was the first to break the tensed silence.
« You do know, he doesn't love you, right? »
You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest.
« How would you know, are you a mind reader now? »
She raised her finger and shook it, a playing glimmer shining in her hazel eyes :
« You're a lost puppy, a distraction to him, nothing more. » Christine said, an evil smirk playing on her lips.
« Believe me, if he was in love with you, he would take your hand in his, look at you with loving eyes, stay next to you all the time, exactly like he did with me. He doesn't act like that with you, does he ? » she added mischievously.
Her words sent a bullet to your heart, the blade of doubt stabbing it like a piece a leaf. Yous tumbled on your feet, the strong magician you were taken aback by the harsh words of your boyfriend's ex-girlfriend.
Christine was a beautiful woman, sharing the same passion than Stephen. She had known him longer than you and perhaps that's why it didn't completely clicked with Stephen. Perhaps, you were not good enough for him.
« I can have him in the snap of my fingers if I wish. You are nothing to him, » she stated darkly.
Crystal tears were on the verge of your eyes, her words piercing your heart, tearing your love for Stephen apart from doubt and trust. Your insecurity soared and you stepped back. You rushed to your room, passing a surprised Wong, your magic boiling as your emotions were turned upside down. You didn't hear the dark chuckle of Christine echoed in the room, proud of her work, either of her words :
« Stephen is mine. »
Locked in your bathroom, your previous fears, your inner demons and your doubts all combined reborn your ancient habit: self-harming.
You had stopped years ago, always hiding the marks and scars behind makeup or long sleeves but today it was too much to bear. You had to relieve yourself from all these emotions and from past experience pain was the only solutions you knew would work.
The first cut made you sigh of pure relief, your eyes fluttering closed as the familiar feeling numbed the pain of your heart.
When the blade pierced through the skin, freeing the blood contained under so easily, you cried even more.
All you could think about was how weak and broken you were, worthless of Stephen's love. Blood poured out of your wound, puddling on your wrist while it streaked down your hand, staining your clothes and the floor of crimson shades.
« Y/ N! »
Another cut followed, while the pain slowly faded away.
« Y/N, where are you ?! »
Your tears streamed down your cheeks, falling on your injured arm, its crystal colour turning into a lighter shade of red.
« Y/ N! Open the door, please. »
Stephen's pleas woke something in your heart, igniting the fire of your love for him and your hand hung in the air, above your bleeding arm.
« S...Stephen ? » you muttered, turning slightly towards the locked door.
The sorcerer banged louder on the door once he heard your voice but it was to no avail. On the last resort, he opened a portal and froze on his spot when he saw you, curled up in the corner, crying your heart out.
He had never seen you in such a distraught state and for the first time, he was genuinely scared. He knelt in front of you, mumbling softly:
« No, no, no, love, stop, please. »
He gently grabbed your hand and took the razor blade while you cried even more. He cupped your cheeks, throwing the blade far way in the bathroom. Even the Cloak knelt down and wrapped itself around you as a small gesture of comfort.
« Why, Y/ N? »
You raised your head up, locking eyes despite our watered ones. You observed his angelic features, his sharp jaw you found so attractive, his perfect shaved beard, his spotless complexion and his breathtaking blue eyes. The two deep blue pools you got so often lost into, so bright and keen were now filled with a spark of sadness and pain.
You slowly dropped :
« I don't deserve you, she is right. »
Stephen looked at you, flabbergasted, confusion was written all over his face until Wong stepped into the room through another portal and said :
« Christine. Christine told her vile words. I heard everything. »
Stephen rubbed your cheeks, pushing away your new tears.
« Listen to me carefully, Y/N. I Love You. I am unconditionally in love with you. No matter what Christine said to you, it isn't true. Do you know why? »
You shook your head, his sweet words healing your broken heart.
« Because my heart belongs to you and always will belong to you. The first time I met you, I fell for you Y/N. I've never felt something like that for anyone before. You're my one true love. You're everything I wish for. I love you and will always will. »
A smile cracked your lips, tears of joy washing your face over again. Stephen was taken aback and looked at Wong for help who simply knelt in front of you, took your arm and whispered a healing spell.
« Why is she crying again? What do I do? »
Wong sighed loudly and stated :
« Love her.»
Then he unlocked the bathroom's door and left, probably to deal with Christine along with the Cloak which flew out and helped the Asian sorcerer. Well, let's say you actually never heard of her ever again.
« Stephen.I love you too. » you said in between tears.
« Why do you cry then ? Aren't you happy ? »
You rolled your eyes.
« They're tears of joy, idiot. Come here. » you hurried him, wrapping your hands around his neck and kissing him with all your might.
He was worth it, you were worth it.
A/N: Any thoughts? No crying?
