-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since you had encountered Stephen's doppelganger, Sherlock, you decided to bring him with John to the Sanctum of New York in order to show them that :
first, they were not crazy,
and second, that yes, parallel universes do exist.
When you had stepped in their flat through a blazing portal, scaring the hell out of John who threw a cup of tea at you while Sherlock remained in his seat, you were determined to show them your world. Fortunately, you bent down thanks to the many years of training and the piece of China crashed into the nearest wall, just next to the yellow smiley face.
Nevertheless, you hadn't expected the detective to accept your offer to visit the Sanctum and to follow you so promptly through the magical portal but you were glad he did. It avoided you to answer the thousand question of the high functional sociopath who for once, was genuinely curious about something he didn't know anything about.
On the other hand, with John, it was a bit more difficult as his doctor rationality stopped him from seeing further than reality. After a long argument and a threatening glare of Sherlock, John had finally complied.
You activated your magic with a flick of your wrist and smiled brightly at them.
« Shall we begin ? » you stated, extending your hand to the blazing circle levitating in the thin air.
John sighed loudly while Sherlock stepped carefully into it, observing in all its details the composition of magic.
The three of you walked through the Sanctum's corridors, and Sherlock couldn't help to slip snark remarks here and there as well as deductions :
« So he has confessed his love for you, Y/N. Finally, the sexual tension was overwhelming! A smile, huh, you are happier than the last time we met. »
His storming blue eyes analysed your body, noticing all these tiny clues to deduce your life while you rolled your eyes at his behaviour.
« Not your business, Sherlock. »
His smirk only widened, sharing a glance with John who rolled his eyes, a frown teasing his forehead. However, they both stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Stephen who was, let's say, showing his greatness.
His eyes flickered to yours, a glow of confusion darkening his azure pupils until they locked with his copycat and a smirk reached his kissable lips.
« Y/N, what is the meaning of this? » Strange asked as he glided proudly above the stairs, the cloak spread like dragon wings around its master.
As you opened your mouth to answer, Sherlock cut you off :
« Did you miss me? »
Strange's gaze snapped back to Sherlock, a dangerous flicker dancing in his breathtaking eyes. John stood apart, clearly sensing the growing tension and he definitely didn't want to be part of it. He knew very well how Sherlock was when he had something in his mind.
« This situation is worst than with Mycroft » he muttered, leaning against the wall.
Once Stephen landed on the floor, his dark boots touching the ground, the cloak flew out and disappeared into the dark corridors of the Sanctum. You watched helplessly the incoming storm, taken aback by their behaviour.
John sighed louder when Stephen answered sarcastically :
« Too afraid to present me your boyfriend? »
The war doctor stated loudly, raising his hand to show his wedding ring :
« I am not gay! I'm married!
Then he let out a squeal when he noticed the Cloak of Levitation next to him, getting closer until it rested on his shoulders. You laughed when you noticed John, frozen on his spot while the relic stroke his cheeks, assessing his liking to the blond man. John's brown eyes pleaded you to do something but you teasingly shook your head, enjoying his suffering.
However, your laugh was cut short when a glowing portal appeared of nowhere, your nemesis stepping out of it. The Cloak wrapped around John and flew to safety under the screams of fear of John « Let me go! Oh, god we're high, wait don't drop me, now! I don't want to die! Sherlock, do something! »
Kaecilius watched nonchalantly the relic flew out of the room, as his dark gaze settled on his target: Stephen.
Except, he picked the wrong Stephen while a grin found its way on his lips, an invisible spear appearing in his hand.
« No Cloak to protect you this time, Strange » announced darkly Kaecilius.
Sherlock locked eyes with the man, his gaze lingering longer while he took notice of his appearance. He was deducing him and a playful grin appeared on Sherlock's face.
« How is your elder brother? »
Kaecilius suddenly froze, his face losing his sweet victory features. He quickly recovered from the low blow and frowned, raising his weapon threateningly to Sherlock. He tilted his head to the side.
« You 're wearing your name perfectly, Strange. You Are Strange. »
Sherlock crossed his arms against his chest, shaking his head, bouncing his dark curls.
« I'm not Strange. He is, » he said, pointing at Stephen who was watching the exchange, a phone in his hand, recording the whole thing.
« Wait, two Strange?
You recognised Sherlock's behaviour and exclaimed to Strange :
« He's going to do it! He's going to use his power! »
You winked at Sherlock who looked at you strangely but he played the game. This caught Kaecilius attention.
« What power? »
Sherlock smirked, his eyes darkening with concentration as he deduced the enemy.
« Why don't I show you ? » his hoarse voice took a low tone, sending shivers down your spine and making Kaecilius took a step back, clearly confused with the « power » of Sherlock.
« You're always wanted to step out of the shadows of your elder brother, he was smarter, more beautiful and more loved than you. He has power and you didn't. That's why you decided to come here, to learn how to cope with pain and gain power but it wasn't enough. You've always felt this thirst, didn't you? The thirst for power, but it changed, right? The marks on your face show how far you're ready to reach your goal: eternal life or in other words immortality. With that, you can beat anyone, your parents, the ones above yourself and mostly your brother. You don't want to be feared, you want to be remembered but what you're doing won't turn out as you expect. »
Kaecilius boiled with anger, his fists clenched until his knuckles turned white, the spear breaking at his strength.
Sherlock kept on.
« Due to your greed, and anger, which might I add are known to be part from the sins, you will fail, as you did in your childhood, letting down your parents, the love of your life and your previous master. »
« That is enough! »
As Kaecilius snapped, ready to strike Sherlock dead, you closed the distance and put yourself between them, punching Kaecilius in the chest and pushing him out of his body while Stephen did the same and caught the enemy.
Kaecilius's body fell down, his head collapsing firmly against the floor and you winced at the noise. He probably was going to have a bruise.
« The Power of Deduction, ladies and gentlemen ! » you greeted, applauding to Sherlock who rolled his eyes at your childish behaviour.
« This is not a game, Y/N. »
You shrugged.
« Says the one who likes to solve murders with a catching phrase « The game is on! ».
a light chuckle escapes Sherlock's lips and you smiled warmly at him. You stepped closer and whispered ;
« Can you teach me, though? I want to annoy Stephen. »
What you didn't expect was for the detective to gladly accept and take you as he called « his apprentice from another world to annoy his doppelganger ».
A/N: So what did you think? Was Sherlock accurate enough?
