The King Under The Mountain
A/N: Hello my dear readers!
To all the LOTR fans, here is a short one-shot where the reader ends up in the Middle Earth dimension to escape an enemy and meets Smaug. It was an idea from one of you dear readers, thank you. I changed the request a bit though.
Hope you'll like it.
Thank you all for your support, you're amazing!

Mortal spells flew past your head, burning the tip of your hair in its path while you dodged Kaecilius' fist. Your breath was ragged, your lungs begging for a break but you knew you couldn't give up the stone to him. What would Dormammu do if he possessed an Infinity Stone? He would destroy everything, bring back the original void of life and you couldn't let that happen.
You could see Stephen fighting his way back to you, sending flying your opponents' minions as if they were rag dolls. However, he wasn't fast enough to stop the blow that left you out of breath. A small scream escaped your lips as you landed roughly on the floor, your enemy towering you with a smirk of victory on his crackled face.
« It is over, hand me the stone and I might let you live.»
You looked at Stephen, his blueish eyes pleading you to wait for him but as the minions outnumbered him and Wong was nowhere to be seen, you were left with an impossible choice. Your body was bruised, bloodied and exhausted, your muscles were screaming for relief and even if this simple demand was a natural effect of tiredness, you couldn't give yourself what you needed, neither to Kaecilius. You raised your head up and got up, the tip of the invisible spear pressed dangerously against your chest, it was even enough to pierce skin and let a trickle of blood darken your clothes.
«Go to hell Kaecilius!»
Without blinking, he coldly stated:
« Very well, death it is.»
The weapon shone brightly in the air, waiting to strike the fatal blow but a familiar voice snapped you out of your shaken state.
«You lay one finger on her and I won't hesitate to kill you, Kaecilius. »
The man chuckled darkly, his brown eyes sweeping the unconscious bodies on the floor with an acute eye.
« The doctor ! Here to save the day. »
he trailed on, his voice flowing like a river of insanities while he snapped his fingers.
Immediately, two giant minions brought a defeated Wong to his knees. His face was battered and you could see a deep wound at his abdomen. The Asian magician had given one hell of a fight when you noticed the same state than the two men holding him down.
« Who will you save : Wong or Y/N ? »
The tip of his blade caressed your cheek, drawing blood and you hissed.
« Stephen, take Wong, he's injured. Don't worry about me. »
You could say you acted foolish or the opposite but with the last remnant of strength you had you charged at kaecilius, dinving down the spear before he had the chance to react and using the last blade hidden in your boots to hurt the evil man. However, an outburst of dark magic sent you flying in the air to the other end of the street. The scream of pure fear following your flight as Stephen rose his hands to perfrom magic with a familiar blazing portal appeared out of nowhere and swallowed you before you had the time to say something.
Your environment drastically changed from a lonely street to a lonely mountain. You frowned as you stared at the vast plains of gold, jewels and treasures spread all over the mountain cave.
« W...Where am I ? » you asked yourself out loud, stumbling back on your feet.
You hissed when you noticed the burnt mark of dark magic on your abdomen. Your clothes was severely burnt and therefore your removed your tunic and stayed in only your top, to let the injury breathe while you would find some fresh clothes to change into.
Wincing you took a step forward, your hand holding your side, and you started your walk through the golden halls of the lonely mountain.
Unbeknownst to you, you didn't notice the burning eye buried in the gold coins staring at you silently, neither the slight movement in the ocean of gold.
You didn't know how long you walked but you grew more tired at each step. Your whole body ached with the feeling of rest, yet you kept walking. You couldn't return to Stephen until you had regained your strength because you could mess up the spell if you were not focused enough. You had tried while working some healing spells, but the magic Kaecilius had used was stronger than your charms and for a moment, you were afraid.
Sighing loudly, you sat on the golden hill, talking to yourself.
« Is there no one here ? This place can not be unguarded. »
A hoarse voice echoing from behind made you shiver.
« Who dared to enter my mountain ? Surely, not a dwarf. »
With cautious movements, you slowly turned around and what you saw was beyond your wildest dream. A mighty dragon stood in front of you, his auburn shade sparkling with the reflection of thousands of coins, the scales of chest glowing warmly towards you when you finally locked your eyes with the creature of legends.
« I mean you no harm. I only stumbled into your home by accident. »
He tapped his tail near you as if he was saying what possible threat you could be to him but he refrained fom anything more when he saw you bit your lips in pain, the slight movement of your body reminding you of your wound. He sniffed the air, the smell of lies invisible to his nostrils except the old fragrance of blood he knew all too well.
« So you say, dear. I am not familiar with your kind, who are you ? »
You sighed, clutching your belly and desesperately trying not too feel intimidated by the beast who sat down as if you were a pleasing distraction. After all, how long has it been since Smaug had had company ?
« My name is Y/N, a master of the Mystical Arts and I do not come from this world. And you are ? »
His reptilian blazing eyes stared at you for a moment, slightly surprised by your ignorance.
« I am Smaug, King under the Mountain. »
A small smile reached your lips while you muttered under your breath how you couldn't believe you were seeing a dragon and that they existed.
A low chuckle echoed in the dragon's lungs, snapping you out f your thoughts to admire the beast. The auburn shades of his scales, the power rumbling this tons of muscles and the fire burning slowly in his chest, all of these features made you realise how trifle you were to him and yet, you had the chance to see such a marvel in your existance. As you lost yourself in the fiery orbs of the dragon, a slow pain subsisded in your sides, reminding you how much you had pushed your body to its limits.
« Nice to meet you Smaug. » was the only words you manage to mutter before stumbling on your feet and rolled down the golden hill, landing in the secure palm of the dragon.
« You are hurt, little human, » he stated as he looked at your weakened body, « your magic is fading. »
The only thing you noticed before the veil of unconsciousness consumed you was how Smaug's voice was close to Stephen's.
*
The Sorcerer Supreme crossed the portal linking to the Middle Earth Realm, activing a blazing diagram to track down Y/N,'s life source.
« The Lonely Mountain. I'm coming for you Y/N. » announced Stephen, his cloak stroking his cheeks teasingly while it trembled with excitation.
Strangely, Stephen seemed familiar with this place and he looked thoughtfully at the giant rock, finding no obvious entrance.
" Hum, a portal will do the trick," he said to himself as he raised his hands up and performed the spell.
As he stepped into the blazing portal, his sight was illuminated by a meadow of aureate coins which left the poor man speechless.
" A dragon lair. How fortunate" he sighed, thinking that only you could end up in a place like this.
A similar hoarser voice resounded near his face, making him spin around, his Cloak shivering slightly at the face of the person facing them.
" How fortunate, indeed. Two visitors in one day, I am lucky."
Immediately, Stephen activated his shields, asking:
" Where is Y/N?"
The dragon came out of the darkness, showing up the marvellous beast of legends.
" Injured yet safe."
A small figure emerged from Smaug's shadow, nestled in his tail.
" And here. Smaug was telling me lovely stories about dwarves, the Arkenstone and a hobbit. And, Stephen, you're a dragon in this dimension! Smaug is like your savage side." you laughed but soon stopped as your ribs started to ache.
Stephen sighed loudly, putting his shields down.
" What am I going to do with you?"
You raised your finger up.
" Well, I wouldn't mind a little help with this," you said, showing up your wound as Stephen climbed up the hill while Smaug looked at him with an acute eye.
This meeting was the beginning of a new friendship.
A/N: So what did you think? Would you like a part two? Was the depict of Smaug okay?
