(#21) Where is your family little one?- Part 3
Ok guys! Exams are finished and I am back to writing! Just so everyone knows. I am glad to be able to write again to you guys, and expect me to update my two Doctor Strange Books. :) Today has been the coldest day in all the year, and I am ready to get to work. I will be updating some imagines and perhaps two or three chapters of Precious One each week from now. I am choosing what request I do next by the form of random choosing. Now. I have an idea for a Sherlock fanfic for those who love that series. Tell me kf you are interested in me writing a Sherlock fanfic. This was requested by OpalGelo04 . As always, thanks for reading.
"You mean to say I have failed my first test? Why didn't you tell me before we went out?!" Stephen exclaimed in frustration, pacing from side to side in front of her. Ancient One crossed her arms, staring at him for a moment before her gaze turned to your struggling form. You were attempting to pick up the jug of milk to pour it on your cereal. As the completely frustrated and worried sorcerer paced, Ancient One picked up the jug and poured a considerable amount of milk on your bowl. As the milk mixed with the cereal, she set the vowl in front of your expecting form.
As soon as it was set down, you clapped your hands together, taking a spoonful of your Lucky Charms in your mouth and chewing with enthusiasm. "Thwranks Amwncient Onwe" You replied as you chewed, watching as she smiled at you and handed you a napkin. She immediately turned to glare at Stephen. He really needed classes in parenting.
"Stephen, this is your first strike. You still have two opportunities to show me that you can be a great father to this small girl." She started in a stern tone, trying to convince herself that she wasn't starting to get attached to you. It was late though, she couldn't help but love you.
She set a hand on your shoulder, watching as you ate your breakfast happily. "I expect you to be more alert and careful. Other wise, you'll get a second strike." Stephen rubbed his temples, letting out a frustrated sigh as he nodded.
"Expect your second test any time. I am always watching" And with that said, she gave you a gentle smile, turning around and leaving the room without another word. Stephen zoned out for a moment, his eyes fixed on the floor. You had already finished with your cereal and you were playing with some of the marshmallows left. As you took them in your mouth, you decided to speak up.
"Mister Strange?" You asked him shyly, setting your spoon down with a clink as you stared at him. He kept staring at the floor, his eyes wide as platters as he mumbled things to himself. You frowned slightly as you climbed down the big chair you had been sitting on for the past hour. You approached him with small steps, looking up at him as you started tugging at his cloak to attract his attention.
"Mister Strange?" You asked once again, making puppy eyes as he yet didn't answer. As you continued tugging, he snapped back to reality, his eyes darting around the room and landing on you as he smiled and ruffled your hair. "Hey little one. Did you enjoy your breakfast?" He asked you with a small smile, his eyes full of sadness at the thought of possibly loosing you. He was too attached to you to ever think of doing his daily life without you in it.
You nodded your head with a wide smile, making Stephen's mood change into a happy one. He crouched down in front of you, looking at you face to face. "(Y/N), after the accident that happened a while ago, you haven't gone out too much. What do you say we go to New York so I can show you my home hmm?" He asked you cheerfully.
You couldn't help but nod excitedly and start jumping up and down. "Yes! Yes! Yes Mister Strange! Can we get ice cream also?" You asked him, clasping your hands together and doing the cutest puppy eyes he has ever seen.
He tried to hold his stare with yours as long as he could, his face turning red as he held his breath so he wouldn't loose concentration. He soon looked away, nodding as he covered his eyes. "Fine! Fine! We'll get ice cream! Just... don't torture me with those puppy eyes anymore." He spoke with relief, regaining his breath as he stood up and took your hand in his, walking out of the kitchen and down the hallway.
You hummed a song on your head, skipping as you jumped besides Stephen. He looked over at you and chuckled, stopping when he reached the training grounds. The day surely was beautiful. "I suggest you don't jump much or else, those lucky charms will come back out" He said half sternly, letting go of your hand as he started making a portal. You watched in amazement, even though you had already seen that process many times. You just couldn't get over how incredible it was.
When the portal was done, Stephen took your hand in his and stepped through the portal, stepping out into a spacious appartment. As you went in after him, the portal closed behind you, cutting the connection to the temple. You let go of his hand, eyes wide as you ran through the living room, looking around the appartment. Stephen flicked a switch on, the appartment coming to life as the lights iluminated around.
"This is my apartment. I used to live here before I had my accident and went to the temple in search of a cure." He told you, his eyes gazing over the awards he had in a glass case. He set his hand on it, staring at them for a moment before he turned towards you with a small smile. "Alright little one. Ready to see New York?"
"Yes Mister Strange!" You exclaimed, jumping off the couch, him catching you with ease. He let you move so you were sitting on his shoulders. You awed as you looked around the place from your new height. "Woah! So this is how being a giant is!" You exclaimed, making Stephen laugh at your understanding of an adult.
"The weather is surely nice up here" Stephen's eyes widened in shock at your statement, breaking into a laugh as he steadied you so you wouldn't fall. You watched in amusement as he clutched his stomach, trying to steady his breathing and stop laughing.
His laughs took a while to stop. He stood back up straight as he wiped away some tears from his laughter. He shook his head with a smile. You were still staring at him with a confused expression. You didn't really understand why he was laughing at what you had said. "Don't worry (Y/N). I know you are confused as to why you are laughing." He said apologetically as he closed the door to his appartment, heading down the hall as he smiled at what you had said.
He knew that you still didn't know much about humor. And it wasn't a surprise at all that you were confused for him laughing at how you basically made fun of his height. He didn't mind though. No one had ever told him that.
"What flavor do you want (Y/N)?" He asked you as soon as he snapped out of his train of thoughts. You continued playing with his hair, finding it funny how some streaks were white here and there. "I want ummm...." You hummed at the end, never thinking you were actually getting ice cream. There were just too many flavors to choose from.
"I'll have (Flavor) please" You answered after a minute or so, returning your gsze to Stephen's soft hair. He nodded in response, pushing the door of the lobby open as he exited the building, smiling as he looked around his home city once again. He had really missed a lot New York. Of course. He didn't mind living in the temple, but both places were completely different to each other.
"(Y/N), get ready because today I am taking you to my favorite places around New York. Of course, I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But I consider New York like my real home." He said with a smile as he stopped at an ice cream shop, setting you down and taking your hand in his. He walked in, watching as you skipped in happily, heading directly to see the ice cream flavors.
Stephen approached the cashier, staring at the menu for a moment as he looked at the nice lady that was in charge. "Hi um... Can I have a chocolate dipped vanilla popsicle and a (Flavor) ice cream?" He spoke up, his statement sounding more as a question. The woman received Stephen's money and smiled at the both, starting to make their orders.
As you stared at the ice cream, you unconsciously reached for Stephen's hand. You had a thoughtful face, your mind had definitely wandered off to your mind palace. (wink wink). Stephen's gaze moved towards your linked hands, a gentle smile gracing his lips as he observed you for a moment. The lady that attended you was soon back.
As she handed you each your order, she smiled at the both of you. "Your daughter is really beautiful sir" The lady commented, making Stephen cough as he tried to swallow correctly. You looked up at him with a smile, wondering what he would say. You of course knew Stephen was not your real father, but he indeed seemed like one. You thought he was your father.
Stephen's face was red as he nodded merely before answering with a genuine smile. "Thank you. She is a really good girl" He said, setting a hand on your head and ruffling your hair. "Come on (Y/N). There is so much more to see." He said, setting a hand on your back and guiding you outside into the temperate climate.
*five hours later*
"We had a lot of fun. (Y/N) is indeed a good girl" Stephen said proudly, running a hand through his hair as he took a sip of his water, setting it down as he looked towards Ancient One who was yet staring at Stephen with an intense glare. She sighed, rubbing her temples in exasperation which made Stephen rather confused. "What?" He asked cluelessly, tilting his head slightly. Ancient one set her own drink down as she spoke up. "You have failed your second test Stephen."
Stephen dropped his drink as he stood up with a start, his eyes widening as platters as he realized his mistake now. "Holy mother of the compelling Jesus Christ, Holy shi- Ahhhhh!" He let out a loud scream, panicking as he looked around, not wasting any more time as he ran out of the kitchen and towards the training grounds, practically throwing himself in a portal and out to New York.
As he stood up, he froze. His eyes wandered all around the city, knowing you could be anywhere. What if something bad happened to you? What if you were lost in New York? What if... What if you were de... No. No. You couldn't be dead! He ran off, pushing through the crowds of people in search of you. There were so many places the both of you went. You could be anywhere!
His search lasted for hours. The streets started getting empty and people were settling inside their homes. Stephen's feet ached, but he wouldn't give up until he knew that you were safe at home. He always kept this in mind as he continued searching, scratching the ice cream shop off his mental list of places.
After what seemed to be a thousand hours, only being two, he had to take a break or else his feet would give up. He stopped near a park, setting his hands on his knees as he gasped for air. In the distance he could see his red cloak searching for you, several kids tugging at it in wonder as to why there was a floating cloak.
Stephen settled down on a bench, resting his face on his hands as he tried not to scream in anger. How could he make the same mistake twice? How could he be so careless about you? He had been so selfish and ignorant. If only he-
"Mister Richard, it is nice that you feed the birds, but didn't you tell me it was your only food left? But then, you gave it to those birds." A small voice spoke up, making Stephen look up sharply as he recorgnized that voice anywhere. He stood up with a start, approaching the entrance of the park, seeing two huddled figures with a blanket, one being smaller than the man sitting next to them.
"That is quite a question girl. I am not quite sure. I guess I just consider this pals my friends. They are the only ones who seem to acknowledge me without speaking with such hate. They have been by my side ever since I lost everything." The man answered, tucking you with the blanket as the night started to get colder.
Stephen tilted his head slightly, watching the scene in front of him with curiousness. "(Y/N)?" He spoke softly, catching your attention. The man turned towards him, noticing your reaction. He smiled as you jumped up, running towards him and embracing his legs in a hug. "Mister Strange! You are back!" You exclaimed happily, watching as Stephen picked you up and hugged you tightly. "You scared me big little one" He said with relief, setting you down but holding your hand still. You giggled in response, letting Stephen start to guide you out of the park.
Before you could leave, you tugged at Stephen's sleeve. You pointed at the kind homeless man you had spent time with. "Mister Strange, can he come for dinner pretty please?" You asked, making puppy eyes as you stood confidently. His eyes looked back at him, staring at him for a moment as he decided whether he should accept or not. He let out a sigh as he smiled at you. "Of course he can, why don't you invite him to come with us?"
