Chapter 36
November 20th, 1960

I sighed as I laid on my bed curled up into a ball with the teddy bear that George had won me, at the pier months ago.
I smiled thinking back to that day at the pier, causing me to miss George terribly. He hadn't called in at least two days, and I worried he had forgotten me.
It was so quiet with my parents away for dinner with friends and still George gone. I closed my eyes, wishing time would pass quicker and someone, anyone really would come back.
Rolling over onto my back I let out an aggravated sigh, as I heard a tap against my bedroom window.
"I really hope that's the wind blowing a tree branch..." I gulped nervously still refusing to open my eyes to look in case it wasn't.
The tapping continued until soon it became a loud bang, causing me to practically jump halfway across the room.
I turned around to look out the window, and immediately ran over to throw it open after I saw who it was.
"Georgie? What are you doing back so early?"
"The gits deported me, fer being too young." He smirked climbing through the window.
"Well I'm glad you're back anyway because I-" he silenced me smashing his lips down on mine, and pulling my body flush against his. I instantly threw my arms around his neck, playing with the hair on the nape of his neck.
He pulled away for a breath, leaning his forehead against mine, eyes twinkling before placing a quick kiss on my nose.
"I'm glad you're back, even if you did get deported."
"Mm..." he hummed grinning widely, leaving soft open mouth kisses, down my neck, to my collarbone.
"Oh...Georgie" I whined, as he nipped at the tender flesh, pushing him back a bit.
"Tomorrow, we can talk to yer dad..." he paused, hand tangling itself in my hair.
"Do we have to?"
"Yes, 'm tired of sneaking around."
Nodding, I pecked his cheek one last time before moving to lay back down on the bed, patting the spot next to me, "cuddle?"
"Always..." kicking off his shoes, he laid next to me, the feeling of everything finally being back to normal soothing.
I giggled causing him to look over at me, "what's so funny?" He smirked,
"You're cute that's all..."
"Mm, not as nearly as cute as you, love..." he whispered kissing my cheek, pulling me closer to him.
"I love you Jackie..." he fluttered his eyes shut wrapping a protective arm around my waist.
"I love you too George" I whispered, laying my head on his chest and listening to his slow breaths, allowing them to lull me to sleep.

"Jacqueline, could you get the door please?"
Nodding, I stood up off the sofa and went to let George in. My mother had somehow convinced my father to sit down and have a talk with George.
"Hi, Georgie."
"Hello, Princess..." he smirked, his eyes glinting in the light as he stepped into the house and shrugged his jacket off.
"Did you miss me?"
"Depends..."
"What do you mean?" He chuckled, pulling me into a hug and lightly pecking the side of my head.
"Did you miss me?"
"You know I did..." he mumbled, rubbing his nose against mine and chuckling when I blushed.
"Mm." I hummed, pecking his lips lightly before we joined hands and walked into the living room where my parents sat.
"Mrs. Matthews, Mr. Matthews..." George spoke quietly, his voice shaking as he gripped my hand tightly.
"Sit." My father instructed, motioning to the chair across from the couch.
"I...um, I want to ask you if it's ok if Jackie and I see each other..." he paused, scooting back into the plushy cushions of the chair, "I know we snuck around about it last time and you weren't very happy about it, and I know I've made mistakes in the past but I promise you I'll always treat yer daughter with the utmost respect."
I moved to sit next to my mother, smiling shyly over at George in the hopes it would sooth his nerves. Looking from him down to my father whose stoney gaze landed directly on George, I became nervous.
"I appreciate you coming to me this time, you should've come to me the first time to ask."
"Yes, sir."
"Jackie, do you like truly like this boy?"
"Yes, dad, I really do." I grinned, my eyes fidgeting between him and George nervously.
"Michael, he really is a fine boy." My mom added, nudging my fathers leg with her own.
"Well..." he paused, his lips drawn into a thin line as his steady gaze remained on George.
"Please, dad..." I pleaded, the thought of him keeping George and I apart again almost driving me nuts.
"I give you my blessing."
"Really?" George beamed, his brown orbs growing wide with delight as he sat forward excitedly in the chair.
"Really, just treat her good."
"Thank you sir." George grinned, extending his hand to shake my father's.
"Nice firm handshake, you'll go far with a grip like that."
"I hope to."
"Have you had dinner yet?"
"No, sir."
"Why don't you stick around, and after dinner we'll get to know each other a little better."
"If it's alright with you and Mrs. Matthews I'd love too."
"Of course it's alright." My mother nodded, standing up and patting George's shoulder on the way by. I smiled contentedly, after so much had gone down hill, and then smoothed out again, it really started to look like everything was going to be just perfect. Leaning back on the couch I listened to my father and George chitchat back and forth, my eyes never leaving George's smiling face for even a second.
