Chapter 21

August 1st, 1960

7:00 a.m.

I sighed contentedly as I rolled over to look out the window, struggling to do so as I was wrapped in the sheets and George's vise like grip.

I snickered finally giving up on turning over, settling on closing my eyes and snuggling down closer to George who started to stir.

"Mm...good morning my beautiful little princess." He whispered, his voice husky from sleeping causing a chill to run down my spin.

"Morning, Georgie..."

He smiled propping himself onto his elbow lowering his lips to mine.

"Not right now..." I objected, feeling a bit self conscious due to having not brushed my teeth yet.

"Why?"

"I have morning breath, at least let me get up and brush my teeth."

He laughed following me off the bed and into the bathroom, where we proceeded to brush, floss, and gargle listerine together.

"Now I'll be taking that kiss..." he mumbled placing his hands on my hips and backing me up until I was pinned to the wall.

I giggled against his lips, running a hand through his messy hair as his larger hand made its way up and down my side in soothing strokes.

The minty taste of his lips combined with his warm soft touch eliciting a moan to slip from my lips. He smirked, rubbing his nose against mine, before trailing gentle kisses up my cheek to my brow bone.

"Better?" I breathed heavily, somewhat flustered due to our close proximity.

"Much..." His breath fanning across my face, nearly sending me into convulsions. He chuckled rubbing a soothing hand acrossed my back, resting his chin on the top of my head.

Our peaceful moment didn't last very long though as the phone started ringing, interrupting the comfortable silence we stood holding each other in.

"I'll get it..." I spoke, pulling away from George and padding over to the phone beside the bed.

"Hello?" I spoke into the receiver quietly as my eyes glanced over to George.

"Good morning, Jacqueline from America!"

I laughed as George shot me a confused look.

"Good morning, John from Liverpool..."

"What's good about it?" He teased cheekily, as I looked down at the small rose gold bangle George had given me last night, making me feel giddy all over again.

"Everything." I sighed happily, glancing over at George who had now moved to sit next to me on the bed.

"Uh-oh! You didn't let scrawny little George batter dip 'is corn dog did you?"

I blushed furiously, giggling as I could practically envision his cheeky smirk.

"N-no there's been none of that..."

He laughed, "I'll be the judge of that when I look at the whites of yer eyes, you can always tell by looking at the whites of the eyes."

"I don't know about that, Johnny..." I laughed, looking shyly at George who shot me a confused look.

"Alright little miss! Tell Harrison we'll be over at ten."

"Will do John, see you then." I giggled placing the phone back down onto its cradle.

"What was all that about?" George smirked leaning closer to me.

"He just wanted me to tell you that Paul and him will be over at ten."

"What was so funny?" He smirked blinking at me, as I giggled.

"You know John, always joking around..."

"You want to take a shower and stuff first?" He asked, looking at me intently as I combed through my messy hair with my fingers.

"You can go first if you want to, I should probably call home today seeing as I didn't call yesterday like I was supposed to."

He nodded licking his lips before pressing them to mine in a fluid motion. I felt warmth start to course through my veins, my heart felt as though it was beating so hard my rib cage would shatter at any moment. I clung onto him, gripping the baggy shirt he wore tightly in my fists as his insistent lips moved in sync with mine making the world seem like it was spinning.

He smiled sweetly pulling away from me, sitting up as I still gripped his shirt. "Tell yer Mum I said hi..." he winked standing up and making his way into the bathroom.

I giggled as I reached up to touch my now swollen lips, I dialed the number to my home with my other hand.

I hummed laying down as I listened to the phones persistent ringing.

"Hello?"

"Mom it's me, sorry I didn't call yesterday but a lot happened and it was kinda busy." I blushed thinking back to the events that happened at the Eiffel Tower.

"Busy how? Is everything alright?" She asked a hint of worry lacing through her voice.

"Yes, everything is perfect..." I replied pausing until I heard the water in the shower start to flow before continuing.

"Well are you gonna tell me what happened?" She pushed, as I laughed wrapping the phone cord around my finger.

"George is my boyfriend now..." I announced shakily, butterflies exploding in my stomach as the words fell from my lips.

"Really? Oh sweetie that's great! Have you kissed yet? How does it feel?"

I laughed at her rapid fire questions, "Yes, it makes my head feel like it's spinning."

"That's a good thing, I hate to have to hang up but I've got to leave for work."

"Alright, I'll try and call you later ok?"

"Good, I love you! Have a good day ok? Don't get to awfully carried away and if you do remember the embarrassing little things I made you pack."

"A-alright, I'll talk to you later." I stuttered blushing, as I hung up quickly.

I glanced out the window and decided to burrow back down underneath the covers. I rolled over onto George's side of the bed laying my head on his pillow, inhaling his scent sending a shiver down my spine. I yawned stretching as I closed my eyes, listening for the shower to stop running.

"Darling?" George peeked around the door, his hair wet from the shower he'd taken.

"Hm?" I giggled peering over the blankets at him.

"Are you sleepy?" He smiled opening the door wider, leaning against the door stumbling a bit, his cheeks tinting from embarrassment.

"No, I'm just resting..."

"Can you bring me the pomade out of my suitcase?"

I nodded getting up and moving over to his suitcase, digging around for the red tin filled with the waxy substance.

"Should be in the top right corner, kitten..."

I nodded grabbing the small tin, watching as he rubbed the towel on his head to slightly dry his hair.

"Here, George..." I mumbled holding the tin out to him.

"Thanks, baby..." He winked pecking my cheek and taking the tin from my hands, twisting the lid off and dipping his fingers in the wax, rubbing his hands together.

"Want some?" He joked, offering me the tin.

"No..." I giggled, watching as he set the tin on the counter and began running his hands through his hair to evenly distribute the wax, playing with his silky locks until he got the hair all going in his desired shape.

"I need the comb..." he muttered reaching for the black toothed item and using it to shape his hair even more.

I giggled watching as he concentrated on perfecting his quiff.

"What?" He smirked, spraying his hair with the can of hairspray that happened to be mine.

"You're just cute..."

"Cute? That's not very manly..." he complained, smirking as he snaked his arms around me.

"Fine..." I paused, looking at him trying to think of another word,

"Handsome..."

"Mm, that's better." He whispered, leaning closer to me and brushing his lips against mine gently.

"George..." I whined making him grin but not lean towards me anymore, "You're such a tease."

He chuckled as I stood up on my toes and pecked his lips lightly.

"Yer one to talk..."

"I've never teased you!" I laughed knowing I had just lied.

His mouth popped open as he pointed an accusing finger at me, "That's a bloody lie and you know it!"

"Get out so that I can take a shower."

"Fine..." He scanned my face, eyes gleaming with love as they wandered back down to my lips lingering there.

"One more kiss..." he whispered, cupping the side of my face with his hand and rubbing his thumb delicately across my cheek bone.

"But-" he silenced me bringing his lips down onto mine again, as my hand gripped his shoulder. He smirked pulling back, licking his pink lips.

"Why so many kisses?" I asked softly, looking at him as my hand slipped down his shoulder and rested on his chest.

"'M making up fer lost time..." he winked, pulling his arms from around my waist.

I giggled closing the door to get into the shower so I could clean up.

Once I was done with my makeup and hair I opened the bathroom door and looked around for George.

"Georgie?"

No reply, shrugging I walked out of the bathroom still wrapped in my towel to pick out some clothes.

I settled on a pair of black high waisted sailor shorts and a red T-shirt, hurriedly putting them on and hanging the towel back over the rack to dry.

"'M back, princess! I got you a cinnamon roll."

I looked around the wall at him smiling as we caught each others eye.

"You look beautiful..." he murmured, handing me the plate with the cinnamon roll on it.

"You're too sweet." I blushed, looking away from his eyes down to the cinnamon roll on the plate.

He smirked picking the sweet item off the plate in my hands, and held it up to my lips.

"Eat..."

I laughed licking the frosting off my lips, gazing up at him as I took a small bite. He watched intently as I chewed, before motioning for him to have some.

"I got it fer you though."

"I want to share..."

He grinned moving the sweet roll to his mouth taking a generous size bite, before holding it back up to my mouth. We continued this until we had gotten through the whole thing.

"Thanks for breakfast."

"No problem, angel..." he cooed, licking frosting off his fingers as his other hand reached out to stroke my hair.

I blushed shuffling closer to him, wrapping my arms around his middle.

"Mm..." he hummed softly enveloping me into the warmth of his arms, swaying us gently.

"Sing me something..."

He chuckled pausing his swaying motions for a second, looking down into my eyes.

"I don't know if I should, I don't wanna get you all hot and bothered before we go out..." he smirked wiggling his eyebrows, referring back to the night we spent together in the park.

"Please, I promise I'll control myself..." I giggled, pouting up at him.

"Are you positive? I don't want to 'ave to beat you off me with a stick..." he joked, smiling at me as I laughed at him.

"Very positive..."

He snickered, beginning to slowly sway again as I rested my head on his shoulder.

"It's just like heaven,

Being here with you.

You're like an angel,

Too good to be true..."

He crooned out pausing for a moment to place a kiss on my temple, making me blush.

"But after all,

I love you, I do.

Angel baby,

My Angel baby..."

I glanced up at him smiling shyly, as he began rubbing soothing circles on my back.

"I like that song..."

"I know, that's why I chose it..." he winked smirking as he captured my lips in a slow kiss. His hand moved up to rest below my ear as he soothingly rubbed my cheek with his thumb, while his other hand drifted down to my hip.

Pulling away with half lidded eyes to catch his breathe, I batted my eyes open and moved my hand up to his chest only to feel his heart pounding.

"Thank you..." He whispered quietly leaning his forehead against mine.

"For what?"

"Choosing me." He reached down and took my hand into his large warm one, bringing it up to his now puffy lips.

I chuckled lightly opening my mouth to speak, before being interrupted by a rapid pounding on the door.

I laughed knowing it was John, and pulled away from George to go answer the door.

"Make 'em wait fer a minute, huh?" He whispered, gently grabbing my wrist. I smiled deciding to play along, snuggling into George who was now leaning against the wall.

"Harrison!" John shouted, continuing his obnoxious rapping on the door.

We laughed quietly, exchanging glances as John continued knocking.

"Come on! Me hand's getting tired, and Paul's waiting in the car!"

George winked biting down on his lip.

"Harrison! Open the bloody door, I know yer in there!" John yelled, his voice now laced with the slightest bit of irritation as it sounded like he threw his shoulder against the door.

"George-" I started only to have him shake his head quickly, and cup his hand over my mouth.

"George! Open the damned door or I'm kicking it down!"

I giggled, as a large thud sounded on the other side of the door.

"What in the hell is going on in there?" He shouted obviously annoyed at this point as he started jiggling the door handle.

I held onto George as I nearly doubled over watching the door handle rapidly twist.

"Fer fucks sake! Jackie are you in there?" He yelled pounding on the door again. He laughed impatiently, as we heard him thrash against the door and slide down it.

It was quiet for a minute, as George tiptoed over to look out to peephole. He laughed turning to give me a thumbs up, backing away from the door.

"Hey..." John knocked again weakly, chuckling.

"Harrison! Stop dipping yer stinger in the honey and get yer asses out 'ere!"

We laughed as George pulled me closer to him, walking over to the door and waiting to open it until John knocked again.

"That's it! I'm coming in there!" He yelled twisting the handle, making us laugh as George unlocked the door and quickly stepped back as John flew into the room.

We laughed looking at a disgruntled John.

"What in the hell?" He screeched, looking both of us over.

"You weren't even dancing the goats jig, you were just standing 'round in 'ere!" He yelled pointing at us irately.

I giggled as I clung onto George's arm, who looked down at me smirking.

"Neither if you 'as anything to say?" John carried on exasperatedly raising his eyebrows.

We all stood in a circle examining each other in silence for a short moment, before we all burst out laughing.

"Yer both arses!" John laughed, as we followed him out the door.

"John?" George spoke softly, as we reached the lift and all the laughter had died down.

"Yeah?" John replied shooting me a cheeky grin, as he rapidly pressed the button for the elevator.

"'Ave you met my girlfriend, Jackie?"

John smiled widely glancing from me to George.

"You finally asked 'er?"

George nodded excitedly, as John slapped him lovingly on the back.

"Congratulations!" He winked, as we all stepped into the lift.

"Thanks." George exclaimed smiling widely leaning down to softly kiss my lips, earning a long drawn out, "awe!" from John. I laughed wrapping my arm around George's waist.

"When do you plan on telling Paulie?" John piped up as we all walked through the lobby.

"I dunno..."

"You better do it quickly because Y'know he was gonna do that thingy..."

My eyebrows knit together at the mention of plans that Paul had. George nodded, clearing his throat and pulling me tighter into his side as we neared the car.

"Ello, darling!" Paul yelled sticking his arm out the window to wave, before stepping out of the car.

George scowled slightly, as if Paul speaking to me annoyed him.

"Hi, Paul." I greeted quietly, instantly feeling uncomfortable as the two boys appeared to size the other up.

"You look gorgeous, not that you don't always..." Paul spoke breaking the eye contact he held with George and stepped forward slightly.

"Thanks..." George replied for me gruffly, stretching his arm out and shoving Paul back slightly.

"What the hell?" Paul muttered narrowing his eyes at George.

"Hey! Jacqueline from America, let's go find some food, huh? I 'aven't eaten today and 'm quite famished! 'M sure it won't take very long...." John explained winking, before shooting the other two boys a look.

"C'mon then." He motioned, bobbing his head in the direction of the cafe across the street. I looked up at George, who nodded before I scampered off with John.

"John, they're not going to have fisticuffs in the parking lot are they?" I asked as he shook his head laughing.

"I can't say I really know but if they do it's fer the best, sort of thing clears out the bad blood." He explained, pulling the door open and motioning me to step in.

"You want something? Ice cream? Jello? Poke in the eye with a sharp stick?"

Laughing I shook my head, "no I'm ok, thank you though."

He winked, approaching the counter to order something as my eyes wandered out the window, making their way over to the bickering boys in the parking lot.
