Chapter 17

July 20th, 1960

2:45 p.m.

"George, walk Jacqueline to her house and help her pack an overnight bag." Mrs. Harrison yelled from the kitchen, as George and I sat on the couch watching the afternoon cartoons.

"Ok Mum! Right after this episode of Tom and Jerry."

I chuckled as he glanced over at me, I sat across the sofa from him with my legs outstretched.

"C'mere..." he ordered, grabbing my foot and pulling.

"Excuse me sir..."

"What?"

"I'm trying to watch this show." I joked, looking over at the tv.

"Yer full of beans Jacqueline Marie..." he teased, scooting down the sofa and lifting my legs up onto his lap.

"At least I'm not a Nancy boy..." I shot back playfully, nudging his leg with my heel.

His mouth popped open in mock shock as he eyed me from the corner of one of his eyes.

"Don't push me buttons little miss..." he warned, gently rubbing my shin with his palm.

"What're you gonna do about it, Harrison?"

"Keep it up and yer bound to find out." He smirked raising an eyebrow.

"You're too scared..." I teased sticking my tongue out at him.

"I'd stop it if I were you...." He smiled, running his hand further up my leg he leaned towards me, causing my cheeks to turn a rosy color.

"But I'm having so much fun..."

"Time of yer life, hm?" He whispered, leaning close enough to rest his forehead against mine.

"A-absolutely..." my breath hitched as he stared directly into my eyes.

"Mm, maybe you'd 'ave an even better time if..." he paused smirking, the breath he exhaled from his nose fanning against my cheeks, causing a shiver to course through my body.

"I-if w-what?" I gulped nervously, as he quickly glanced down to my lips blushing.

"If I tickled you!" He shouted quickly sliding his hands up my legs to my sides, beginning his merciless assault.

"George!" I squealed, bringing my knee up between us in an effort to push him away from me.

"I told you not to push me buttons!" He joked, gently slapping my leg down with one of his hands before continuing to tickle me.

"P-please Georgie! I can't-" I yelled weakly as tears threatened to slip out of my eyes from laughing.

"George Harrison!"

He ceased his tickling and looked down at me with wide eyes, watching as I peeked over his shoulder slightly.

I giggled quietly when I caught a glimpse of Mrs. Harrison, sleeves rolled up to her elbows and hands covered with flour resting on her hips.

"Yes, Mum?" He answered somewhat quietly, turning his body slightly in order to look at his mom.

"What are you doing? Get off that poor girl, she is our guest!"

He blushed sitting up, shooting me an apologetic glance before looking back over at his mom.

"Now do what I told you to do earlier, and walk the lady to her house to get her things."

"Yes Mum..." he nodded looking down at his feet.

"Ready to go?"

"Sure..." I giggled looking at him, he was so cute when he was flustered.

He stood up offering me his hand to pull me up.

"Don't be afraid to put him in his place if need be, Jackie..." Mrs. Harrison joked before winking and heading back into the kitchen.

I laughed giving her a nod and looking over at George who stood in front of the door shaking his head.

"So, I've been thinking..." he started as he shut the door behind him and we started walking towards my house.

"That's never a good thing..." I smirked, causing him to chuckle and squeeze my hand.

"Shut up...anyway I was thinking maybe before I leave fer Hamburg, we could go to Paris."

"What?"

"Y'know just you and me, I want to take you to Paris...we can ride with John and Paul they're going 'm sure they'd let us hitch a ride. We would get our own room and split up and not even 'ave to see them until we go home."

"George I don't have enough money, and my parents-"

"Jacqueline, please?" He stopped walking and turned his body so that he stood in front of me, looking me directly in the eyes.

"But, George..." I glanced up at him and he shook his head, running his thumb over the top of my hand.

"I'll pay, I've got enough money...I'll even talk to yer mum fer you, hell all you'll 'ave to do is just pack a bag and load yer little ass in the car, ok?"

I laughed, "Alright..."

"You'll go?" He smiled widely as I nodded up at him.

"Thank you, Jacqueline!" He whispered excitedly kissing my nose.

"When do we leave?" I asked, looking over at him as we continued our jaunt to my house.

"Thirty first of July, and we'll stay for about a week."

"George that sounds expens-"

"I want to take you, so stop worrying about money, and don't feel guilty about it because I like to spend time with you."

I nodded, smiling shyly when he wrapped his arm around my waist.

"I'll sleep on the couch tonight instead of you if you want me to ok?"

"Absolutely not! Pretty girls always take the bed, besides Mum would kill me." He chuckled pulling me closer to him.

"You'd probably deserve it..." I teased tugging his arm.

"You wouldn't even try to protect me!" He laughed tugging my hair.

"Of course I would!" I exclaimed, pulling my key out to unlock the door.

"Right..."

"Believe what you want, Georgie Porgie Pudding and Pie."

He hummed stepping into the house behind me and following me up the stairs.

"Ok..." I mumbled opening the bottom drawer of my dresser and pulling out a duffle bag.

"I need my makeup and hair stuff..." I mentally checked those items off in my mind, going into my bathroom to get them.

I paused in the doorway of the bathroom, and observed George looking through the top drawer of my dresser.

I laughed quietly, watching him pull a black and blue lace teddy my mom had given me on my birthday as a gift to embarrass me.

He looked at it with wide eyes, as he felt the intricate lace pattern with his fingers.

"What'd you think you're doing mister?" I broke the silence startling him as he threw the lacy piece of sleepwear back into the drawer and slammed it shut.

"N-nothing, nothing at all 'm just waiting fer you..." He replied coolly, leaning back against the dresser.

"You sure?" I giggled as I sat my stuff down beside the bag and walked over to the dresser opening the top drawer to get pajamas.

"Absolutely..." he blushed scooting away from me, watching me pick pajamas out before picking up the lacy garment he had carelessly thrown back into the drawer, folding it and putting it back in its original spot.

He cleared his throat, walking over to sit on the bed.

"Let me get a change of clothes for tomorrow, then I'll throw everything in the bag and we'll be off ok?"

He nodded folding his hands in his lap as he avoided eye contact with me. Chuckling to myself, I turned and heading towards my closet.

"Um, Jackie do you ever wear..." He began blushing when my head turned to look at him as he shook his head quickly, looking back down his cheeks tinted red.

"Do I wear what?" I smirked pulling a shirt and shorts out of my closet.

"That um...never mind, princess." He offered me a shy smile, watching me shove everything into the small duffle bag.

"Ready to go?"

"Yep!" I replied picking up the bag only to have him take it out of my hand.

"George, I can carry it."

"No, me girl isn't going to carry 'er own bags..." he whispered gently placing a kiss on my eyebrow. I blushed, following him down the stairs and out the door.

9:45 p.m.

"This is the latest I've stayed up for a long time..." Mrs. Harrison yawned, we all sat around the table playing a game of war.

"This is probably nothing for you two though..." she added, as George and I exchanged sideways glances.

"Why don't we all go to bed then, Mum?" George asked rubbing his eyes with the palm of his hand.

"If you guys want to I'd be more than happy to." She giggled standing up from the table and stretching.

"Fine by me..." I nodded standing up to give her and George a goodnight hug, before following her up the stairs into George's room.

"Goodnight, dear..." she whispered gently smiling as she shut the door behind me and I crawled up onto the bed.

Twisting around crawling under the covers, I listened to the creaking of the old bed springs. I huffed pushing the hair that hung down in my face out of my eyes, in order to look out the window across from the bed.

"This is gonna be a long night..." I murmured to myself, flipping over onto my side. Fluttering my eyes shut in an attempt to force myself to fall asleep, but it was to no avail.

I groaned after what seemed like an eternity of tossing and Turning. Flipping over to glance at the clock on the wall, "it's only been about an hour...." I whined quietly, contemplating getting up and going down to George.

Shrugging after sitting on the bed for about twenty minutes wondering if George would even be awake, before getting up and slowly making my way to the door.

I paused in place about two steps away from the door, listening to the floor on the other side of the door creak.

Slowly stepping back away from the door when the door knob started to turn, I looked up only to be met by a beaming George.

"What are you doing up, princess?" He whispered, looking back over his shoulder for a second before tiptoeing into the room.

I giggled, "I could ask you the same thing Georgie..."

He smirked walking closer to me and snaking his arms loosely around my waist.

"I couldn't sleep without you next to me, now what's yer excuse?" He whispered, rubbing his nose against mine.

"I missed you..." I admitted shyly my voice barely above a whisper, blushing as his eyes stared down into mine.

He smirked, "What was that, love? I didn't quite hear you..."

"You know what I said..." I giggled hiding my face in the side of his neck.

"I know but I want to hear it louder because the other day you said you don't ever miss me...." He replied running a hand slowly through my hair.

"I never said that!"

"Mh, I know you miss me, love...I miss you too when yer gone."

He squeezed me tightly, "Let's cuddle, yeah?"

"You're not supposed to be in here..." I chuckled, as he pulled me along behind him to the bed.

"I'll leave before Mum and Dad get up..." he flipped the covers back motioning for me to get on the bed.

"Maybe after tonight we should try and go back to sleeping without each other..."

He snorted climbing into the bed behind me and pulling the covers up before throwing an arm over me, pulling me into his chest.

"Why?"

"Because in about twenty nine days you're leaving for Hamburg and we won't be together."

"Jackie, don't keep reminding me..." he sighed, kissing my ear.

I nodded nuzzling closer to him as I breathed in his warm scent.

"If you want to try it I can go back down on the sofa..." he muttered, pulling away from me slightly.

"No, you ventured all the way up here...and besides that, who's gonna keep me warm?" I whispered kissing his cheek as he winked down at me.

"Goodnight, kitten..." he whispered, trailing kisses from my temple to my jaw.

"Goodnight, Georgie."

July 21th, 1960

11:35 a.m.

"Now remember let me talk to yer Mum..."

I nodded unlocking the front door, and going in being followed closely by George as we headed up the stairs to my room.

"What if she says no, George?" I asked, watching George throw the bag on the bed and I scurried over to unpack it.

"I'll steal you away then..." he murmured, brushing my hair off my neck and planting a gentle kiss on the tender skin.

"Georgie, don't..." I shuttered, pulling my dirty clothes out of the bag and throwing them over into the dirty laundry basket.

"Mm..." he hummed, nodding as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Do you mind I'm trying to pick up?" I giggled, squirming away from him and taking my other stuff to put it away in the bathroom.

We looked at each other when we heard the door downstairs open and the sound of my mother and father walk in.

"Jacqueline! We're home!" My mom yelled as I heard my father go back outside.

"Jacqueline?"

"I'm in my room..." I yelled back sitting on the bed next to George.

"Hi-oh hello, George..." she nodded winking at me before entering the room and closing the door.

"Jackie, I told you not to have George here when your father is around." She whispered walking over towards us.

"Mrs. Matthews, may I ask you something?" George spoke causing us to both look over at him as he smiled shyly.

"Of course..." she nodded, before shooting me a quick look.

"Well I don't know if Jacqueline's told you yet or not but in August I'll be leaving to go play in Hamburg with me band."

She narrowed her eyes looking at him thoughtfully as she waited for him to continue.

"And I just thought maybe before I left, I could take 'er to Paris fer a week. I promise I'll take care of 'er, I'll feed 'er, give 'er a place to sleep and all that. We wouldn't leave until the thirty first of this month." He explained, glancing down at my mother who now sat cross legged in front of us.

"Um, Jacqueline would you like to go?" She asked, glancing up at me as George turned his gaze to me.

I blushed slightly looking back and forth between my Mother's and George's expectant eyes.

"If it's ok..." I spoke quietly as she nodded at me.

"It's fine with me if you go, I've just got to come up with something to tell your father as to why you'll be gone."

"How are you getting there and back?"

"A couple lads of mine are driving there so we'll hitch a ride with 'em."

"Ok..." she nodded rubbing her hands together.

"So she can go?" George asked bouncing excitedly on the edge of the bed.

"Of course she can, I'd never keep her from what she wants to do."

"Can she also go to Hamberg with me?" George blurted quickly, as I looked over at him with wide eyes and gently smacked his shoulder.

"When are you going?"

"We leave August seventeenth..."

"And you'll be gone for forty eight days?"

He nodded as he watched her thinking, almost as if he could see the wheels turning in her head.

"What about if I sent her to you around September 2nd? That way you should be all settled in and stuff, she could go for about two or three weeks if she wanted."

He grinned widely, nodding as he wrapped his arm around me.

"Perfect!" He exclaimed jumping up from his spot on the bed making both me and my mom laugh.

"Kathleen? Where'd you go?" My father bellowed from the bottom of the stairs.

"I'd better get, Jackie..." George spoke leaning over and kissing my cheek before looking at my mom.

"Thank You, Mrs. Matthews fer allowing me to borrow yer daughter."

"Anytime..." she winked, as we both watched him climb through the window and quickly slide down the trellis.

"What are you two looking at?" My father asked walking into the room to see both of us staring out the window.

"Nothing dear, nothing at all..." my mom answered sending me a wink as she got up and walked my dad out of the room.
