Chapter 11
July 3rd, 1960
2:30 pm
"Jackie, let me take you on the Ferris wheel..." George pleaded, squeezing my hand.
We had met up with Paul, John, Stu, and Pete but had left shortly afterward when John started making what George consider to be "lewd comments that a lady shouldn't hear."
"What if we get stuck at the top?" I asked, taking some cotton candy off the wad George had bought for us to share.
"Don't think what if thoughts, they'll never get you anywhere." He smirked, taking a bite of the fluffy candy I held in my hand.
"Really? You couldn't just take it off the mass on the stick?" I laughed raising an eyebrow at him before shoving the rest of the candy that was in my hand into his mouth.
"I wanted to see yer reaction..." he tittered, swallowing the mound of fluff in his mouth.
"You're a goofball!"
"But you love me..." he smirked, before looking across the boardwalk to one of the many small food-stands that sat on the boardwalk.
"Jack! Look they make scones over there!" He yelled excitedly as he began pulling me towards the food cart.
"Georgie porgie, you got a whole container of cookies we just made."
"But we don't 'ave scones!" He shouted at me with wide eyes.
"George, I'll make you scones ok? Let's just get the Ferris wheel over with."
"You'd make me scones?"
"Of course, silly boy! I just made you a batch of cookies."
"With the jam and everything?"
"Yes, with the jam."
"I love you!" He shouted pulling me into his chest, making other people passing by stare over at us shaking their heads.
"George, calm down..." I laughed, my voice muffled by his chest as he had pressed my head into it.
"There you guys are! I've been looking fer you everywhere." We turned to follow the direction of the voice, to see Paul running towards us.
"Great..." George muttered, rolling his eyes as he snaked his arm down around my waist.
"Hi Paul!" I greeted, smiling and batting my eyelashes at him.
"Ello darling..." he smirked, and then gave a slight nod to George.
"We were just going on the Ferris wheel, we'd invite you along but unfortunately we only 'ave two tickets, so 'm afraid you won't be able to tag along." George smiled, proud of the fact he really only did have two tickets.
"Oh don't worry about me Geo, I've got a spare ticket around 'ere somewhere..." Paul assured patting his pockets down until, he reached into his back pocket to retrieve his wallet and pulled a ticket out of it.
"May I join the two of you?"
"I don't know, I think Jackie-" George started before I interrupted him, making him release a loud discontented sigh. This earned him glances from both Paul and I.
"Of course you can Paulie!"
"Gear! Let's be off then?"
"Shouldn't you be back with John?" George made one last failed attempt to get rid of Paul.
"John left with Stu to go to some club." Paul answered, making George quirk a suspecting eyebrow at him.
"I find it hard to believe that you skipped out on going to a club to look fer birds, to come track us down."
"I already 'ave my eye on a certain bird, I'd 'ave no reason to go out looking." Paul shot back, winking at me causing my cheeks to turn a rosy pink.
"Well, let's not stand here all day talking huh? The Ferris wheel is waiting!" I piped up trying to break the growing tension that seemed to lay thick in the air.
"Right, you heard the lady George!" Paul winked, reaching for my free hand as George still had his arm around me.
We began the longest, most awkward walk of my life. The closer Paul would pull me to him, the tighter George would pull me into his side, it was like a game of human tug of war.
When we reached the front of the line for the Ferris wheel George handed them two tickets for the both of us and hurriedly pushed me towards one of the little cars.
"But George, Paul is-"
"Wait a second, ma'am! Those are me friends, is there anyway I could get in with them? I've got me ticket 'ere..." Paul shouted, as the ticket lady nodded and granted him access.
"Damnit..." George muttered, narrowing his eyes at Paul, who approached us smiling like a mule eating briars.
"Will one of you please hurry up and climb in? You're holding up the system." The older gentlemen seating people in the passenger cars stated.
"Sorry sir..." George apologized climbing in, followed by Paul.
"Sit next to me?" They both asked in unison, gazing at me expectantly.
"Little miss if you'd be so kind..." the older gentleman sighed, his patience visibly growing thin.
"Sorry sir..." I replied, sliding in next to a now grinning George.
"Good choice..." he whispered quietly, winking as he wrapped his arms around me.
This earned a glare from Paul who in turn cleared his throat before gazing over at me, when the wheel lurched forward causing my anxiety to flare up and cling onto George tighter.
"It's alright, lovey...look how far we can see from up 'ere..." George comforted, kissing the side of my head as I turned my head to look.
"Jacqueline, you look absolutely gorgeous up 'ere..." Paul piped up, gently tapping my foot with his.
"You're too sweet." I blushed, nudging his foot in return.
"Love, I think you look absolutely gorgeous regardless of where yer at..." George remarked, practically pulling me up onto his lap.
"Oh..." I paused blushing at our close proximity, "thank you..."
"Of course, princess..." he whispered, lips brushing against my ear causing me to shiver, as his breath rolled down my neck.
"Are you cold darling? I just saw you shiver 'ere take me sweatshirt." Paul offered, untying the heathered grey garment from his waist.
"I'm ok Paulie, really but thank you." He nodded, tying it back around his waist.
"Jackie, would you like to go out with me again tomorrow?" Paul smiled, blushing as he looked me straight in the eyes. George instantly tightened his grip around my waist, and cleared his throat.
"What time?"
"Around lunch maybe? I'll pick you up we'll go, and then you can come to band practice with me."
"I'll ask my mom and call you ok?" He nodded satisfied with the answer.
The Ferris wheel lurched to a halt, and we all stepped out, Paul hurrying to wrap an arm around me before George. This caused George to shoot Paul a sour look.
"Hey, Jackie?"
"Yes, George?" I answered, wrapping an arm around Paul's waist.
"Do you by any chance need a snuggle buddy tonight?"
I blushed, looking down as Paul jerked his head over in George's direction and glared heavily at him.
"If you'd be so kind...I'd gladly accept your offer."
His face lit up, as he winked at me.
"I'm always available to cuddle with..." Paul interjected softly, kissing my cheek.
"Jackie said I'm like a space heater though, I highly doubted you emit the warmth I do..." George smirked, raising an eyebrow at a scowling Paul.
"Go swimming with me, darling?" Paul changed the subject, as he pointed out towards the ocean. I looked over at George who was smiling like he just won a war.
"Princess, we should get going don't want to get you home late."
I nodded, looking over to give Paul a smile. As he offered me a smirk and pulled me closer to him, leaning his forehead against mine.
"Remember about tomorrow ok?" He whispered as his lips brushed against mine, before he closed the rest of the distance between us. I closed my eyes and leaned into him, nearly melting as his plush lips danced against mine. He tasted like a combination of mint and cigarettes.
"Mm..." he sighed, as I wrapped my arms around his neck allowing my fingers to play with the hair on the nape of his neck. His hand gently slid from my neck to my lower back, as his tongue slid across my bottom lip. I granted him access, and he explored the inside of my mouth before we both pulled away gasping for air.
"Goodbye sweetheart..." he whispered, giving my ass a light pat before smirking over at a now livid George.
"Bye, Paulie..." I squeaked shyly, before George latched onto my hand and pulled me away from Paul, and toward the motorcycle.
"I can't believe him..." George muttered, squeezing my hand tightly as we quickly walked down the boardwalk.
"Georgie, could you lessen your grip on my hand please?" I frowned, as I glanced up at him and stared at his tightly clenched jaw.
"'M sorry, am I hurting you, love?" He softened his gaze, immediately loosening the death grip he had on my hand.
"Thanks..." I mumbled, watching as he gently examined my hand.
"I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Georgie, it's ok I'm not mad at you..." I whispered, winking at him as he carefully picked up my hand and brought it to his lips. I shivered as the soft skin of his lips connected with my skin, as he left a soft trail of kisses from the top of my hand to my wrist.
"George...please stop." I muttered, as fireworks began exploding simultaneously in my stomach and my cheeks tinted pink.
"Alright..." he mumbled against my skin, peering down into my eyes.
"Let's get headed home, hm?" He grinned, wrapping his arm around me and guiding me towards the motorcycle, so that we could begin the journey home.

"Can I come over tomorrow and we'll make those scones you promised me?" He smiled, chewing on one of the few snickerdoodles that remained in the box.
"I'm going out with Paul remember?"
"You just saw 'im today though, why do you need to see 'im tomorrow?" George questioned, pulling another cookie out of the box and shoving it into his mouth.
I laughed, watching him chew and swallow as he shot me a questioning glance. "What's so funny?"
"You have nearly eaten twenty two cookies today, and your worried about scones!" I laughed, leaning back against the tree in front of my neighbor's house.
"When you smile, and yer little nose is all scrunched up like it is now it's the cutest thing ever." He grinned, placing an arm above my head and leaning on it.
"You're full of it..." I snickered, lightly shoving his shoulder making his mouth pop open in mock surprise.
"Hm, you would know..." he grinned, as I reached down between us and pulled a cookie out of the box.
"Yer a little thief!"
I laughed sticking the cookie halfway into my mouth, biting down on it.
"Georgie!" I shrieked, mouth still full as he bent over and bit the other half of the cookie that stuck out of my mouth.
He laughed, setting the box of cookies down and pulling me closer to him, running a hand through my hair.
"Come snuggle with me tonight?" I asked shyly while avoiding his gaze.
"I do every night, it's my job you don't even 'ave to ask..." he whispered, pulling my chin up with a bent finger as he kissed my temple tenderly.
"I'll walk you to yer door, and then come back around nine thirty ok?"
"I'll be waiting..."
He laughed, pulling me into his side as we walked up to my porch as though we were attached at the hip.
"See you in a few hours..."
"It's a date." He whispered, grinning widely before winking and running down the steps of my porch.
I watched him run down the street, before opening the door to my house and walking in only to be greeted by my mother.
"Hey, how was your day, sweetie?" She smiled, giving me a hug as we walked into the kitchen and I rehashed my whole day.
"Oh, and Paul asked me out again..."
She smiled widely, "did you tell him you'd go?"
"I told him I had to ask you first then I'd call him."
"It's fine by me if you go with him..." she replied, chopping up what looked to be asparagus to go in the stir fry she was making for dinner.
I nodded, making my way out into the hallway to use the phone. Dialing the number I waited until a man answered.
"Hello, is Paul there?"
"Yes, I'll call 'im right down..." the man responded, bellowing Paul's name in the background.
"Hello?"
"Hi it's Jackie, I'm all cleared to go out tomorrow." I smiled anticipating the day that laid ahead.
"Oh, love I'm sorry but something came up and we 'ave to reschedule, me brother Mike 'as a play tomorrow at 'is school I 'ave to go to. I'm sorry, what does yer Tuesday look like?"
"Oh um, I'm not sure yet but it's alright George wanted to make scones tomorrow anyway so I'll just invite him over." I grinned, thinking of the fun to be had baking with George, even though baking the cookies earlier that day had been a small job.
"Yer making him scones?" Paul asked quietly, causing me to titter.
"Yeah, I made him cookies today."
"Why don't you bake anything fer me?"
"You never asked me to, we tried to make cupcakes the other day remember?"
"How do you feel about coming to the play with me?"
"Oh, Paulie I don't want to intrude on your family outing. It'll be ok we'll just do something Tuesday alright?"
"Alright, I've gotta go now love..." he paused, "by the way that kiss today at the beach, best one of my life." He whispered, causing a blush to set on my cheeks.
"I'll talk to you later ok, Paulie?" I giggled, before hanging up and going back into the kitchen to join my mother.

"He really cancelled his plans with you just because of a play?" George asked, flopping over onto his side to look at me.
"Georgie, his brother's in it I can understand why he cancelled." I stared up at him, despite the darkness that blanketed the room his eyes still shone.
"Hm..." he knit his eyebrows together before, reaching out for my hand.
"Look how little yer hand is compared to mine." He laughed, looking at my hand.
"My hand is not small, yours is just freakishly large." I shot back, looking at his hand.
"Well, you know what they say about men with big hands." He smirked, rolling back over onto his back and pulling me into him.
"Look who's making lewd comments now!" I giggled thinking about that afternoon when he had accused John of making lewd comments, trying to squirm away from him.
"Stop resisting!" He laughed, rolling on top of me.
"Georgie..." I whispered, as he paused slowly rubbing his thumb over my cheekbone.
"Yer skin is so soft and perfect, yer perfect..."
"Don't..." I whispered, blushing and turning my face away from him in an effort to hide the redness of my cheeks.
"My little china doll..." he mumbled, burying his face into the side of my neck.
"You're squishing me..." I squealed, poking his shoulder.
"Mmhm..." he mumbled sleepily, closing his eyes.
"Georgie, please...c'mon." I pleaded, pushing him off me, laughing as he nearly allowed himself to roll off the bed.
"That wasn't a very nice thing to do, especially to yer dear friend." He chuckled, climbing back over towards me.
"C'mere, you big boob." I whispered, holding my arms out to him like a two year old.
"Mm, now you want me back." He raised an eyebrow smiling, as he crawled over to me, and cradled me in his arms.
"Goodnight, darling love." He whispered, kissing my nose.
"Goodnight, Georgie." I whispered, snuggling closer to him as he pulled the blanket up around us, before I leaned over and lightly kissed his jaw making him smile.
