Two . Shattered Glass
"They'll be here in one year's time…and they're both stronger than me, they'll kill you easily..!"
On a far off planet sat two saiyans. Both listening to the sounds played back to them over their scouters, one paying full attention as the scene progressed and the other seeming to not care.
They heard as someone explained a mystical object that could make any wish fathomable become a reality, granted all seven of the orbs were collected and brought together. They heard as a familiar voice huffed out it's final threat before it faded to silence, the scouter connection cutting out.
Then, the two were left to sit quietly. Letting the events settle in their minds.
Nappa spoke suddenly, “You hear that, Vegeta?”
Vegeta glanced over to him, seemingly unbothered. “Over the scouter? Yes, I heard. Seems they managed to defeat that weakling, Raditz.”
“Mhm…” Nappa hummed shallowly.
“As is expected, he was quite weak, after all.” Vegeta stated, giving a half shrug at the thought.
“Yeah.” Nappa mumbled, quickly changing the topic. “You hear what they said about those wish balls?”
Vegeta nodded and rolled his eyes slightly, “The magic wish orbs that can grant any wish desired? I heard, yes. We’re going to take a trip to Earth.”
Nappa asked, “For the dragonballs?”
“Yes, of course.” Vegeta clarified.
“What’re we gonna wish for?”
“Take a guess.”
“Wish Raditz back?” Nappa suggested.
“No, that would be pointless. There’s no need to wish someone as weak as him back.” Vegetea scoffed, glaring back at his comrade. When he spoke again his tone had changed, it was somewhat friendly now, “But, how does being immortal sound to you, Nappa?”
“Hm,” Nappa paused, thinking on the question. “sounds pretty damn good to me.”
Vegeta nodded, “Then it’s settled: we’ll defeat the ones who killed Raditz and get our wish granted, then we’ll make the universe cower at our feet!”
With that, they made their way back to their space-pods and soon set off to Earth. It would take a year to get there, which left time for the people of Earth to prepare. Not that it would matter much: even if the fighters on the far away planet trained everyday for a year straight, they would still be no match for the two saiyans. At least, that’s what they thought. Or, more so, hoped.
Having heard Raditz die over the scouter was concerning- well, to Nappa it was. It wasn’t exactly concerning as it was, in some way, sickening. That in itself didn’t quite make sense to him; he had watched countless people die and even killed some of them himself, but he had never felt like this because of any of them. After all these deaths he had just moved on as if nothing had happened, they weren’t important, but with this one he couldn’t stop thinking about it. It made him think back to anytime they had spent together; how long they had known each other and how long they had cared. After all that time, they never got to say goodbye.
There was one memory that stood out from the rest though, one that had happened only five years ago. A promise that they had made to each other to run away together. To die together. They never got to do that either.
A shattered promise, like glass.
