Eren nodded, "I did say I would tell you about it," Eren said giving him a smile and leaning back on the couch. "Well, it went just fine," Eren said with a sigh that made Levi a little skeptical about that statement. "I'm just not sure about anything anymore," Eren mumbled.

"Why what did he do?" Levi asked scooting over and patting his lap.

Eren let out a giggle and laid his head down on Levi's lap looking up at him with his feet hanging off the side of the couch. "At first he was mean and a little standoffish, but I think that's because he was scared of what I would do to him," Eren said with a shrug. "Then," Eren paused looking up at Levi, "he apologized," Eren said.

"He apologized?" Levi asked surprised.

"Yeah, a few times actually. I ended up talking to him about the past, ya know, trying to see what he was thinking to make him do all those horrible things in the first place. After a while, I dropped the topic, it was just too depressing. So I ended up asking him what he wanted to talk about," Eren explained.

"Yeah?" Levi asked wanting Eren to continue.

"He said he wanted to talk about me, and he wanted to know what kind of man I'd become," Eren said before sitting up and slouching over looking at his hands. "Levi he was nice, and he actually regrets what he did," Eren explained. He looked up and his eyes looked into Levi's and he whispered, "I'm so confused," Eren said before dropping his eyes back down to his lap.

"About?" Levi said wanted Eren to further explain what he meant.

"Everything," Eren sighed "he made my life a living hell growing up. He was a true monster, but looking at him today," Eren paused, "he was just a sad and lonely old man," Eren said his eyes glued to his hands that rested in his lap. "He hated me growing up, but that was because I looked like my mother, today he showed he actually has changed. He showed he cared about me," Eren shook his head, "why now?" Eren asked. "After all these years why now?" He asked again this time looking up at Levi. He wasn't expecting Levi to know the answer, but he wanted something anything to make sense.

"He's dying," Levi said, "that changes people," he shrugged at his own guess.

"Yeah, you know what else he is?" Eren asked and Levi shrugged a little waiting for Eren to continue.

"He's sober," Eren mumbled, "that changes people too," Eren said dropping his eyes back down. "I don't know if that has to do with it because I've witnessed him sober before, but he never acted like this so-" Eren's voice drifted off. He changed the subject looking up at Levi. "I told him about you," he said.

"What did he say," Levi asked.

"He asked if I was happy," Eren said with a confused look on his face. "When I told him I was he smiled," Eren said still not really believing this happened.

"He smiled?" Levi asked a little shocked.

"Yeah," Eren said laughing at the look of disbelief on Levi's face. "I barely believed it myself," Eren said back and Levi smiled seeing Eren chuckle a little.

"Before I left," Eren said hesitantly, "I told him I would go see him again," Eren said not looking at Levi's face worried he might be angry.

"Okay," Levi said with a shrug and Eren's eyes shot up to look at Levi's face. "As long as he plays nice," Levi said giving Eren a smile.

Eren smiled back "yeah, I made sure to keep him in line while I was there," Eren laughed.

"Good," Levi smiled, "if you want I can go with you, but that's up to you," Levi said wanting to support Eren.

"Maybe in a week or two," Eren said, "that is if I still decide to visit him after the next time," Eren shrugged, "I just want to get used to him a little before bringing you in," Eren smiled.

"Okay," Levi nodded, "just let me know when you want me to go," Levi smiled.

"Will do," Eren said leaning his head on Levi's shoulder. "And Levi?" he said.

"Yeah," Levi asked.

"Thanks for being so supportive," Eren said letting a yawn out.

"Why don't we head to bed," Levi suggested, "it's been a long day."

"Isn't it a little early," Eren asked seeing that it was only a little after 10 pm.

"So," Levi shrugged. "You're tired. I'm tired, and tomorrow we will have to deal with Mikasa's wrath," Levi laughed pointing towards Eren's phone that was sitting on the table glowing form a string of text messages that were still being sent.

"Good point," Eren laughed. "He picked up his phone and turned it completely off, "she's a little overprotective," Eren said with a shrug.

"A little," Levi raised his eyebrow at the huge understatement.

Eren shrugged, "I've seen worse," Eren said looking at Levi with a raised eyebrow.

"I am not as bad as her," Levi said crossing his arms.

"Oh please," Eren laughed, "you can be pretty bad at times," Eren said with a giant grin.

"Name one time," Levi said standing tall.

"The time I didn't answer the two phone calls when I was home sick from college and you drove all the way back home in the middle of work because you thought I had died," Eren said raising an eyebrow.

"An honest misunderstanding," Levi said as a defense.

"I was sleeping like you told me to," Eren said crossing his arms. "Or how about the time we drove to Hanji's and I went inside to feed her dogs while she was away like she asked me too. You were waiting in the car for 5 minutes before heading in the house deciding I was taking to long and that something must be wrong," Eren said with a laugh.

"I thought she gave you the wrong key to her back door," Levi huffed.

"Okay how about the time-," Eren started again when Levi cut him off.

"Fine," Levi sighed, "I get your point," he said crossing his arms, "I guess I have my moments, but I'm doing better about that," Levi said with a shrug.

"Yeah," Eren agreed, "you only do it every once in a while," he said before heading to turn off the lights. "Let's go to bed," Eren said with another yawn.

While they were walking toward the stairs Eren turned to Levi with a grin. "What about that time-," he started again only to be cut off by Levi.

"Enough Eren you've made your point," Levi said rolling his eyes with a smile.

They quietly made their way past the kids' room. While Eren was there he stood still listening for a moment. When he was met with a peaceful silence he nodded. He continued walking and caught up to Levi who was already in their room. He closed the door behind him. They both got ready for bed. They both had thrown on sweats but passed on the shirts since it had been warmer at night. They laid down and turned off the light before cuddling up next to each other.

Eren let out another grin. "There's also that time you-," Eren started to say.

"Okay I get it," Levi laughed, "I can be really overprotective," he shook his head. "Now can we drop it and go to sleep," he said and Eren nodded against Levi's chest. Levi placed a kiss on his forehead. "Good," he said with a smile. "Goodnight Brat," he said wrapping his arms around him.

"Goodnight Levi," Eren said closing his eyes as another yawn escaped his mouth.

They drifted off to sleep. They both still had a tad of worry in the back of their mind wondering how the kids were, but when they passed their room everything seemed fine. They assumed that everything was okay.

But they were wrong.
