The Finished Room
Author's note~ Extra long chapter yay ^.^ Also I am very proud because I wrote this whole thing literally in an hour... that's around 7 pages almost single-spaced. (Finals are killing me and I thought this chapter was going to take a lot longer to write.)
Eren was in his own little world for hours on end. Levi and Mikasa swore that his neck must have been killing him, but Eren hadn't even noticed the growing kink in his neck that he would surely pay for later.
Mikasa, Levi, and the kids had finished the walls, both layers of paint and the whiteboard walls. They were waiting for the walls to finish drying completely so they could hang stuff on the walls like the shelves and the painting and pictures. Eren was still making his way across the room moving the ladder ever so slowly painting each section with the most detail as possible. The ceiling was over halfway done, and he was working towards the last corner. Levi and Mikasa hadn't really looked up at the ceiling to see what he was doing, following the kids lead of wanting to be surprised.
They started working on rearranging the furniture steering clear of the corner where Eren was working. After they finished arranging the kids needed another break and Levi and Mikasa agreed. They headed downstairs and decided to watch a movie while they waited for the room to dry. They had placed a few fans in there as Eren suggested so that they would dry the walls quicker. They had started a movie while they waited and Eren proceeded to work with no break as he got lost in the strokes of his brushes.
Eventually he hit the corner and finished up the last section before stepping down off the ladder and taking a look at the full ceiling. He went back over and fixed all the little details he may have missed and added more shading to sections where he thought it wasn't as great as it could be. After going through and fixing all the little details he pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of it before heading downstairs.
He heard as the movie they had been watching was just finishing up and he stood at the bottom of the stairs rubbing his neck that he just realized was a tad sore. 'I'm going to feel that in the morning,' He thought regretting not giving his neck any breaks.
Levi had noticed him and gave him a smile, "you live," he said causing everyone else to focus their eyes on Eren.
"Barely," Eren replied rolling his neck a little trying to stretch out the kinks. Eren walked over to where the kids were and talked to them for a minute before nodding and standing up. "Mikasa, Levi, you're with me," he said gesturing for them to follow him back upstairs.
"What did you say to them?" Mikasa asked as they approached the room.
"I asked them if they wanted the full room to be a surprise and I told them if so that we would finish arranging everything," Eren said.
"Okay, then let's get to it," Levi said opening the door and pausing at the ceiling that had caught his eyes. Mikasa who had walked up behind him stopped too and looked on with wide eyes.
"Do you like it?" Eren asked a little nervous about their critique.
The kids had put on another movie and had helped themselves to some of the snacks that Hanji had brought them the other day. They had almost finished this movie too when Levi appeared at the bottom of the stares. They paused the show and looked up at him.
"You ready?" He asked with a smile.
They quickly jumped up ignoring their tired feet and practically ran up the stairs after Levi who lead them down the hall. Levi stood at the door that was closed and proceeded to knock on it as if to make sure they were allowed in. "May we come in?" he asked more asking if Mikasa and Eren had finished putting everything together.
"Yup," they heard Eren say from the other side of the door. The kids walked in and immediately felt as their normal expressions were replaced by one of such astonishment. They looked around the room. They first saw the bed which had a new covering over the top of it and the kids wondered when Eren and Levi had picked that up, there was a lot of stuff that they had never seen them pick up added to the design of the room, and rather than the normal reaction of embarrassment of people spending money on them they were impressed that they had managed to get that much stuff past them without their knowledge.
The bed was still the same king bed, but the pillows were now in pillow cases that matched the new comforter. The comforter was very bright and radiant. It was purple green and blue, and each color faded into the other, but the colors popped brightly drawing their eyes to that in the center of the far wall. There were five pillows on the bed. Two of them were purple, two of them were blue, and one of them was green. The wall behind the bed was purple, and the one across from it shared its color, but other two walls standing adjacent to the purple walls were a greenish blue teal color. The colors almost matched the bed, but were lighter and weren't as bright and eye-catching so the bed could stand out more. (My idea of the bed)
The bed was centered on the back wall and on each side of it there was a decent size square that was sectioned off to be a whiteboard wall on either side. Over enough, so they weren't on top of the nightstands which were next to the bed. The nightstands were each in front of a window since there was already two symmetric windows in the room on that side. The other purple wall that was opposite to the bed had the same whiteboard square layout. They were perfectly aligned with the ones directly across from them.
The painting Eren had done for them hung dead center over the bed. On the green walls, there were shelves that were aligned with the opposites side just like the whiteboard walls. The kids wondering if they made the room mostly symmetric on purpose. There were five shelves on each wall. Two higher than three with the corners touching almost making a block wave shape pattern.
The TV was on the wall opposite to the bed, but it was slightly off center because of the door being in the way, the door opened the opposite way, so the tv wouldn't get damaged by the door being opened. On each nightstand were lamps that looked like jellyfish and attached to reached was an alarm clock made to look like seaweed flowing in the ocean. The floor was a rug that looked like it had a water looking pattern to it and made it seem like they were really standing on the ocean's surface. On the walls, Eren had gone over some parts of them and added texture so that the greenish blue-teal, that sort of reminded them of below the ocean waves, looked as if you were looking up and seeing the sun shining creating that unique color. The purple walls had some blue and texture added to make it seem as if it was the deep ocean abyss.
The main door and the closet door were both painted a light blue. Around the room there were little illustrations that Eren had done while everyone else moved the furniture. The bottom of the walls had seaweed painted there at some sections. There were different sea creatures around the room such as a little octopus that was sitting in the corner of the room, and an angelfish that seemed to be inspecting one of the shelves. There were a couple more creatures spread out across the room, nothing too big, but yet still amazing to the eye.
They were trying to spot them all when they had looked up and totally forgot about the rest of the room. The ceiling was absolutely gorgeous to the eye and the details that went into it were unbelievable. The divider going horizontally down the middle separated the contrasting sides.
The first side of the divider was a bunch of scattered pieces of paper with words on them that if you tried hard enough could actually read, they were the musicals song lyrics. On that side was clearly the (OBC) Dear Evan Hansen cast drawn in character. Connor Murphy and Evan Hansen were drawn in the middle front and center being the biggest characters showing clearly by the shadows that they were closest to the foreground. Connor's head is tilted slightly down as he is reading a note while Evan's head is farther down looking at his hands which looked as if they were fiddling with each other. The cast looked uncomfortable and the huge letters of Connors name shown clearly along with the texture of the cast. His face seemed to be riddled with anxiety. Behind and a little bit away from Connor was Zoey Murphy, and she was holding an empty gallon of milk with an annoyed look on her face staring at Connor. Her other hand on her hip further displaying her annoyance. Behind her in the background was Cynthia and Larry Murphy who were sitting at the dinner table. Larry had a newspaper up blocking the rest of the table as he ignored his surroundings, while Cynthia, on the other hand, was looking at his newspaper as if she was talking, and he wasn't listening.
On the other side behind Evan were Jared and Alana. Jared was sitting in a computer chair with a laptop in his lap as he looked to be laughing. Alana was sitting at a school desk while she seemed to be doing homework, her nose in a school textbook. Farther back, but still behind Evan was Heidi Hansen and she was sitting on a couch with a small sad smile on her face with her arms slightly out almost as if she was waiting for Evan to turn around and join her on the couch embarrassing her in a hug while doing so.
In the background were a light blue sky and a tree off in the distance with a broken branch from where Evan had "fallen" from.
The other side of the divider was this bright and sharp lightning streak that you could almost see flash before your eyes. None other than Thor had caused it with his hammer outstretched. He was in the corner shooting the lightning bolt down the middle of the room. Next to him, his brother Loki who was holding his scepter with an angry look that held a sort of mischief to it. Next to Loki was Hawkeye who had his bow out and aimed at some unseen target with three arrows locked on ready to fire. Next to him, practically back to back was Black Widow who was firing her pistols. The were midfire, and you could still see the slight flash of the gunpowder igniting. Next to her more towards the middle was Captain America who was in the middle of throwing his shield. Right next to him also in the middle, hovering a bit was Iron Man who was in the middle of firing a blast from his hand. Next to him, was Bruce Banner who is standing normal, but directly behind him is the Hulk, almost as if the drawing was fast-forwarded by a minutes difference showing both before and after the change. Next to him was The Winter Soldier who was firing a gun with his metal arm showcasing the red star and the metal that shined despite the chaos around them. Behind them in the background is falcon and vision flying above the rest vision is shooting from the infinity stone located on his head. In the far corner opposite to Thor sits Deadpool in a lawn chair as he has his mask rolled up slightly showcasing his mouth and messed up face as he sits eating a bowl of popcorn watching as everyone else is fighting. The last character is just swinging into action from the background. Spiderman looks as if he is just arriving to join the fight, one had slung a web to draw him into the fight, while the other web is shooting over to Deadpool as he steals some of the popcorn from his bucket of it.
The background behind them was more of a darker blue with some debris in the background and ash in the air.
The kids couldn't pull their eyes away from this fandom masterpiece. They stood there wide-eyed amazed at what Eren did in such a short period of time. 'That's not humanly possible,' Alex thought looking at the insane amount of detail that Eren had put into this.
"So do you guys like it?" Eren asked with a nervous smile, "I mean I know you guys are teenagers, and the ocean room might have come off as childish but,-" he was cut off before he could even finish by the kids running up and hugging him.
"It's amazing," They said together, "I love it," their voices remained synced for the second time.
They released Eren from the hug and went over and hugged Levi before also hugging Mikasa as well. They thanked them and remained staring at the ceiling seeing why Eren didn't want to look away from it when he was painting it.
