The Doctor Will See You Now

Jean and Eren were lead into one of the few room that was around the corner and through a door. The nurse left and told them a doctor was on their way. Jean and Eren took a seat in the room they only waited for no longer than five minutes before the doctor was already walking through the door.

"What have we here?" She asked walking in and picking up Jean's paperwork that the nurse had left on a clipboard for her. "Broken hand, hmm, let's take a look shall we?" She said with a kind smiled as she slid on some plastic gloves since it was mandatory that all the doctors wear them.

Jean put his hand up so that she could see it.

"That looks painful, we'll have to do some scans to see how we should go about treating it. Is that alright?" She asked the men.

They both just nodded.

She left the room and proceeded to ask the nurse to prep the machine before returning back in the room shortly to grab them. She lead them to a machine that would scan Jean's hand to see the severity of his injury.

"Sit still okay?" She said. Jean nodded and stayed as still as he could as the odd machine scanned his arm. Eren was with the doctor away from the machine. After a few moments, the machine stopped and the doctor said, "All done," with a chipper smile.

She lead them back to the room and told them it would be a few minutes for them to look over the scans. She left the room to go look at the new scans.

"Wow, I didn't expect this to go this fast," Jean said half expecting for them to still be waiting for the doctor to appear in the room for the first time.

"Yeah," Eren said with a smiled. "Anyways, how do you think Levi is doing right now," Eren asked a little concerned.

"He's probably reading his book with one hand while the doctor scans his other," Jean laughed.

Eren laughed too, "you're probably right," Eren said envisioning it.

They joked for a little while of what they thought Levi was doing at the moment until the door opened slowly to the laughter. "You guys seem to be having a blast in here," the doctor said with a smile as she walked in. "Your scans are back," she said holding up the black paper with the x ray scan of Jean's arm.

"Well ready to see what your hand looks like?" She asked walking over to Jean and Eren.

They both nodded as she set up the scan on the board on the wall made specifically for that purpose.

"Okay there's some good news and some bad news," she said clearing her throat, "your hand has a few fractures," she said pointing to the bones in Jean's hand that didn't look quite right. "Two of your knuckles are broken, and there is a fracture just behind your knuckle. The good news is that none of the breaks are too serious. All of them are stable fractures and don't require a surgery or any pins to be placed," she said giving the boys a smile. "It should take about three to four weeks for your hand to heal, but you will have to wear a splint to ensure when your hand heals it heals properly."

"Makes sense," Jean said just glad he didn't have to get surgery.

The doctor put on a splint and gave Jean a sling so that he could keep his arm out of harm's way when needed. After a little while longer they made their way to the waiting room to wait for Levi, but when they made it back into the waiting room Levi was still sitting there reading his book.

"Levi?" Eren asked walking up to him.

Levi looked up and set his book to the side. "Done already?" He asked seeing the two reappear.

"It's been almost an hour why are you still sitting here?" Eren asked before a nurse walked out and called a name.

"Levi," he called looking at the clipboard.

"Looks like not anymore," Levi said standing up grabbing his book and starting to walk over to the nurse.

"We're coming too," Eren said following Jean.

"We are?" Jean asked before Eren grabbed his good arm and dragged him behind him. "Guess we are," Jean mumbled to himself as he was forced to follow the two.

Levi was lead into one of the other rooms and they all walked in. The man told them that the doctor would be in shortly.

A few minutes later the same doctor that had treated Jean had entered the room. "Oh, back so soon?" She asked playfully with a confused look.

Jean gave an awkward laugh and shrugged. He half expected a different doctor to walk through the doors.

"Alright," she said before looking down at the clipboard, "Levi. You have a broken hand as well," she said looking up and glancing over at Jean and back to Levi. Levi also had a new bruise on his cheek just below his eye. "Did you two get in a fight?" She asked not really expecting an answer before walking over to Levi putting on a new pair of gloves.

"Anyways, let's take a look," she said examining Levi's hand.

They went through almost the exact same process as when Jean was doing it. They were just waiting for the results now. Levi's were taking longer for some reason. Eren seemed to be worrying more than Levi at this point. He was pacing back and forth as time ticked on he seemed to pace more and more.

"Eren, you're making me exhausted by just looking at you," Jean said watching Eren pace back and forth for the hundredth time now.

"What if something's wrong?" Eren asked starting to really worry, "yours didn't take this long."

"Well, there's no use worrying about it until we actually know what it is," Levi said setting his book to the side. "That is if there is even anything to worry about in the first place," he added with a shrug.

"Of course there's something to worry about. I mean in the very least we know your hand is broken which is bad enough as is," Eren said pausing his pacing momentarily before starting back up again.

"So what," this wouldn't be the first time I broke something," Levi shrugged it off as if it was nothing.

"Don't say it like it's so natural, I don't want this to happen again," Eren said and that was when Levi started to realize that Eren was feeling a little guilty.

"Eren," Levi sighed, "Don't go blaming yourself for this," Levi said raising his hand showing it to Eren. "It was my dumbass who decided to punch the wall and it was my dumbass who decided to punch it hard enough to break something. Okay? You had nothing to do with my hand getting broken," Levi said trying to reassure Eren now that he figured out why he was so worried.

"Yeah, but you punch the wall because of something that happened to me," Eren said bringing his hand up to the back of his head and letting his fingers feel the now closed gash.

"Still isn't your fault," Levi said standing up and grabbing Eren's hand leading it away from his wound and instead of holding it in his good hand. "I mean let's face it this isn't the first time I've punched a wall, and it probably won't be the last." Levi said with an honest smile, "But I was so stressed at that point that literally anything would have made me snap," Levi said. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't exactly the truth. Levi was really stressed out and about to snap at anything, but he wouldn't have punched a wall, might have just thrown something instead, but he got so mad when he heard that Eren was hurt by one of those bastards that ruined his life that he lost all sense of rational thought.

"No more punching walls," Eren pouted when he heard Levi say that this might not be the last time.

"No promises," Levi laughed and kissed Eren.

Jean pretended to gag over in the corner at the cutesy moment that was happening in front of him. "Get a room you too," he said only to be met with a middle finger from Levi.

The doctor came back in and Eren and Levi jumped back away from each other. She stopped dead in her tracks in the doorway. "Awe, sorry was I ruining a moment?" She asked genuinely worried.

"No, sorry," Eren let out a giggle before moving out of her way.

"My savior," Jean whispered causing the doctor to chuckle.

"Well," she said hesitantly putting the scans up on the board for them to see.

"That looks really bad," Eren mumbled looking at the scan of his fiance's hand.

"Well," the doctor said, "yes, but not as bad as it could have been," she added trying to lighten the mood with a hint of positivity. "Your hand has a couple fractures in it," she said putting it lightly.

"How many exactly is a couple?" Eren asked looking at the picture.

"Seven," the doctor said after some hesitation she couldn't find a way to sugarcoat that.

Seven?" Eren said looking at Levi and back at the doctor. "How hard did you punch the damn thing?" Eren asked looking back at Levi.

"Not as hard as I could have," Levi shrugged he did hold back on that punch, but now he was wondering what would have happened if he didn't.

Eren brought his hand up and rubbed at his eyes. "Seven fractures and all you said is not as hard as you could have," Eren repeated rolling his eyes. "Jesus Levi," he sighed walking over to sit down in the chair to take a breath and clear his mind for a moment before he smacked his fiance upside the head.

Levi shrugged wondering what Eren was so upset about. He thought his answer was a good enough one.

The doctor waited calmly as the two bickered before explaining the next part. "Three of your knuckles are broken and behind your knuckles, there are two fractures. And two of the joints in your fingers are severely fractured," She said pausing for a minute and showing where everything was. "Most if not all of them are unstable fractures," she said sounding a little worried.

"What does that mean for him?" Eren asked getting back up and joining them back by the scans now that his head was clearer.

"Well, we would have to place some pins and wires into his hand to help the healing process and to hold the bones in place as they heal. The good part is this is done without surgery," she said with a lighter tone. We are able to do this today since we aren't that busy, but it may take a while to get the pins into place," she said as a warning. "Also when that's done you'll have to wear a cast to make sure the bones and pins stay in place, but after that, it should take around five to six weeks for everything to heal."

Eren at this point was flipping out and he looked up at Levi to see what he was feeling, I mean he was probably freaking out worse than Eren right? Nope, Levi looked as calm as he could be.

"Sure that sounds fine," Levi said with a shrug.

Author's note~ sorry if any of this isn't 100% accurate. I tried my best to get it as accurate as I could with research and personal experience. My personal experiences weren't very helpful either. From breaking my knee riding a motorcycle several years back to breaking my knuckle by punching a wall neither of them very helpful... but then again I never went to to get my broken knuckle fixed lol oops anyways hope you enjoyed this chapter. ~ Lawliet TJ
