Shopping List

Author's Note~ Sorry that the update is so late like shit it's a whole day late... Sorry I got so busy with school that the update totally slipped my mind and my alarm hasn't been working. I really need to get that fixed. I'll try not to let it happen again sorry guys. Anyways the positive side of this is that you will only have to wait two days instead of three for the next update because I screwed this one up. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the chapter.

After a little while later Levi had whispered something to Eren. Eren lifted his head off of Levi's chest and let him get up. Levi got up and walked towards the kitchen. TJ and Alex watched as he disappeared and shrugged it off and continued watching tv. Eren eventually had got up and disappeared into the kitchen probably to help Levi with whatever he was doing.

A little while had gone by and the kids smelled something sweet and Alex turned her head trying to peek over her shoulder towards where Levi and Eren were, but she couldn't see much. She nudged her brother and he nodded as if to say yeah I smell it too.

Moments later Eren entered back into the room with a smile. "Dessert anyone?" He asked and both the kids nodded. "Well come on," Eren said gesturing for them to follow.

They jumped up and followed Eren into the kitchen and saw Levi had placed a plate of fresh baked cookies and watched at the kids' faces light up. "Grab a few," he suggested and watched as the kids walked over. "Be careful they're hot," he added before turning to get something to drink.

They each grabbed a cookie and tried it. Their taste buds agreed with their sense of smell the cookies were delicious.

Levi had just finished getting some water, after taking a sip he set it down on the counter. He began cleaning up the pans and moving everything to the sink where he could wash the dishes. While moving some of the items his arm bumped the glass knocking it to the floor. "Shit," he cursed. He was in nothing but socks and he was now surrounded by broken shards of glass. "Eren," he whined. "Aidez moi," (help me) he begged.

Eren laughed a little before telling the kids to go to the front room since they were barefoot. He then disappeared to go find a broom from the supply closet from the other room he called, "ever since you broke your arm you've been such a klutz," he said before the supply door closed and he headed back with a broom and dustpan in hand.

"I know," Levi pouted a little, "I don't know what it is either," he sighed, "I mean I was never this klutzy before."

After Eren and Levi got the kitchen cleaned up from the water and glass they did the dishes and met the kids in the front room. "You guys are going to need to go shopping, I mean you guys didn't get to grab anything, and I'm sure your dad probably missed a few things, right?" Levi asked talking to the kids.

"I mean we can probably make due with what we have," TJ said not wanting them to waste their money on them.

Levi raised an eyebrow, "do you even have a toothbrush?" he asked making a point.

TJ stayed quiet for a minute before whispering, "no."

"Tomorrow we'll go shopping," Levi said, "and we will get anything you guys need," he smiled.

"We should probably make a list of all the places we are going to need to stop," Eren suggested.

"Sure," Levi said, "good idea," he said and Eren pulled up notes on his phone.

The kids were hesitant at first, but Levi and Eren eventually got a list of all the things the kids would need and Eren wrote down what stores to go to. They even secretly added a few things to the list that they knew they would want or need them, also hoping to make them a little more comfortable while at the house.

They added things like extra pillows, since the room they were in only had two little ones, hair ties because TJ didn't own any and Alex didn't seem to have any since this is one of the only times they haven't seen one in her hair or on her wrist. They also planned on getting them phones which they knew would be a task since they knew the kids would be very hesitant or might resist that one since they would probably think it to be too big of a burden. Levi didn't care though because he knew that they would be safer with phones, and he had the money so it really wasn't an issue.

"Alright," Eren said with a chipper smile, "sounds like we have a busy day tomorrow," he said saving the list to his phone before setting it aside.

There was a knock at the door before anything else could be said. Eren and Levi looked at each other a little confused, but Levi shrugged and got up to answer the door. They are used to getting people who drop by without notice, Erwin, Hanji, Jean, even Mikasa, they all have just dropped in unannounced on more than one occasion. The kids had tensed up and stayed close to each other not sure what to expect.

Levi opened the door and Eren could tell who it was by the sound of Levi groaning. "Where are they," she asked walking past Levi into the living room and stopped and looked at the kids with a smile.

"Hey Hanji," Eren smiled with a little wave as Levi walked back in with a less than impressed face.

"Hey Eren," she said waving back at him before walking over to the kids and plopping down on the coffee table in front of them, "hey, guys, so how's it going?" she asked sitting a little too close to them.

Levi was mumbling to Eren about how her ass was on his coffee table.

"It's all good," Alex said smiling at Hanji, "Eren and Levi are really nice," she said and Hanji smiled.

"I'm glad to hear that," Hanji said cheerfully.

"Yeah," TJ said with a small smile, "they are too good to us," he said with a little nod.

"Nonsense," Hanji said shaking her head. "You guys deserve the best," she smiled. "And if they are ever mean to you, and by they I mean Levi, then you just tell mama Hanji and I'll fix it," she said whispering, but not very well.

"As if," Levi chuckled, "you have no say in what I do, but I would never do anything bad to them. You, on the other hand, I have no problem kicking your face in," Levi said with an evil smirk.

Hanji let out a little nervous chuckle, "anyways I just stopped by to bring these," Hanji said pulling some snacks out of her bag for the kids. They happily thanked her for the junk food. While the kids were occupied she pulled Eren and Levi over to the side for the real reason she had come.

"We made cookies would you like one?" he asked so that they could talk in the kitchen more privately.

"I'd love one," she smiled as they walked into the kitchen.

The second they were out of the kids' sight Hanji asked, "Are they okay?" in a more serious voice.

"They are doing better than when they first got here," Eren said looking back over at the kids who were watching TV.

"Yeah," Levi started, "they aren't as afraid to do things anymore, like sit on the couch and turn the channels on the TV," he said.

"They still have trouble with turning on the TV and sitting in places they haven't already sat, and other things like that," Eren added.

"They are still very awkward about things," Levi said, "any advice of how to help them be more comfortable?" he asked.

"Try adding more their age-friendly things around the house," Hanji said. "They are 13, so what do teenagers like?" Hanji asked trying to get them to come up with ideas.

"I don't know," Levi said with a shrug.

"Come one, Eren you should know you were like 13 like what 2 years ago," Hanji laughed.

"Very funny," Eren rolled his eyes. "More like eight years ago," Eren said with such confidence and then his eyes got really wide before he whispered, 'oh my god I'm getting old." He turned to Levi and looked at him, "you must be a dinosaur by now," he said before laughing. Hanji had got a kick out of the teasing and she was trying to hold in her laughter, but she was failing horribly.

"Shut up brat," Levi rolled his eyes, "just answer the question," he said a little annoyed at being called old when he was only seven years older than him.

"Fine," Eren laughed. "Well, I used to have a lot of posters when I was a teenager," Eren suggested, "and I had books that were more my age around," Eren suggested right off the bat. "Also my room was decorated the way I wanted it to be decorated, but that might be hard since they are sharing a room. Eren said with a shrug.

"That's a good start," Hanji said. "Let them decorate the room tomorrow and see if they start adjusting better," She said before grabbing a cookie and starting to walk away. "Oh, also, don't expect anything to be immediate," she said, "it takes time to adjust to all new surroundings." She said before taking a bite out of the cookie and heading back into the living room.

"Alright guys," Hanji said talking to the kids, "well I'm going to get going, I have to go feed my dogs," she said before walking over and hugging both of them wishing them luck.

They all walked her out and Eren and Levi thanked her for the advice before she got in the car and drove off.

They all headed back into the house and Eren had gone up the stairs and disappeared into his art studio. He had another idea for a painting and he had to get down at least the outline before he forgot it. Levi headed into the front room and picked his book back up. He only had two hundred and thirty  three pages left and he wanted to finish it so he could start a new one.

The kids had sat back down in front of the TV not sure what else to do. Alex leaned up against TJ as she felt her head get heavy. She ended up falling asleep within minutes of leaning up against him. He just sat there with a small smile. 'I'm glad she's happy here,' TJ thought seeing his sister look at peace as she slept which is more than he could say about their old house. 'Am I happy here?' TJ asked himself. 'I mean I am, but I do miss- no, no, no, I don't miss her. What am I thinking.' TJ shook his head a little frustrated with himself catching Levi's eye.

Levi looked up and was about to ask him if he was okay, but decided against it.
