I Hate That I Love You

She was a small woman with shoulder-length black hair. Her cold blue eyes always seemed to hold hate and when she looked at you with them you would feel as if you were being interrogated with their judgment. Her smile was non-existent, even when she tried to fake one it still seemed lifeless.

She was wearing normal blue jean capris with a white shirt. Over her shirt was a light pink cardigan. Her shoes were black flats. Around her neck hung a cross necklace. With the hate she held in her eyes Levi thought that the cross would have fit her more if it was inverted.

"Yes this is our first class," TJ answered her as he slightly scooting over in his chair so he wasn't sitting as close to Thomas. He was used to getting yelled at for ridiculous things, he didn't want Thomas dragged into it.

"Who's your friends?" She asked looking at the group in the middle of the class with her piercing gaze.

"This is my friend Thomas, and this is his sister," he said trying not to stutter or show any hesitation. He knew if she heard even a seconds worth of hesitation she'd press until she got the truth, or what she thought was the truth.

"Oh, how lovely," she said with a plain smile as she walked up to Ash and Thomas. "Nice to meet you I'm Tates and Alexandra's mother, Evelyn," she said with her hand outstretched as she introduced herself.

Ash stood up and shook her hand, "My name's Ash. Nice to meet you," she said with a warm smile.

TJ was practically shaking with fear and Alex she just looked angry almost as if she was going to start yelling. Thomas stood quietly behind his sister just hoping the woman didn't notice him, but of course, she did.

"You," she said looking over at Thomas, "I've seen you come around my house a few times. You always waited outside for Tate, why is that," she asked and Ash subconsciously moved over slightly blocking a bit of her view from her little brother.

"I was worried that he was walking to school alone and I live in the area so I offered to walk with him," Thomas said quietly before Eren came to the rescue stopping her from pressing any further.

"Hello madame," Eren said walking up to her putting a stop to the conversation that he knew would lead to trouble. "I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you yet," he said changing the topic.

He walked up to her shaking her hand and introducing himself. "I'm Eren Jaeger," he said. "I help all the teachers so that they know how to teach students and accommodate for some of their needs. I also just help the other teachers and students in general," Eren said explaining his job in the simplest way he could.

"I'm not sure I follow," she said raising an eyebrow before narrowing her eyes looking him up and down. "Anyways it's good to know such a nice young man is helping my children," she said with sinister sounding voice. "I notice the ring on your hand," she said pointing at it. "Who's the lucky lady?" She asked.

Eren held his hand back up looking at the ring, "she's an amazing woman," Eren smiled and Levi had to stop himself from rolling his eyes.

"Eren," Levi said walking up to them. Eren hadn't realized that he was clenching his other hand so tight it was turning white, but Levi did and he knew it wouldn't be long until she noticed it too. "Hanji texted and she said Erwin wants to talk to you for a minute about tonight," Levi said getting Eren away from her. He knew his fiance was bad at lying and it wouldn't take him long until it was noticeable to everyone in the group.

"Oh, alright," Eren said before turning back to the woman, "sorry looks like I have to excuse myself," he said before walking to the door he gave Levi a nod as a thank you and headed to Hanji who Levi had probably texted saying Eren was coming.

"Sorry about that, everyone's still trying to get ready for tonight, " Levi said walking up to her.

"Quite alright," she answered looking Levi up and down, but her judgmental gaze didn't faze Levi even in the slightest. Which seemed to bother her more than it did Levi. "Now who might you be?" She asked looking him up and down once more looking for anything she could bring up to question him on.

"I'm Mr. Rivaille, your children's English teacher. I'm the one who wrote you the note," he added.

"I see," she said, "what happened to your hand?" She asked pointing at his cast.

"I fell down the stairs," he said with a straight face look that no one could see through. Unlike Eren, he was a master at lying.

"How unfortunate," she said putting her hands on her hips. "Another married man I see," she noted. "How did your wife feel about our broken hand?" She asked as if this was some sort of test.

"She worried to death, and wouldn't leave me alone until I went to get my hand checked out," he said with a shrug, "now she's babying me with everything." He answered and she seemed to like his answer almost as if he had passed her deranged test.

"How sweet of her," she said unconvincingly. "Anyways how are my kids doing in school are they as much as a handful here as they are at home?" She asked sounding like her children were a major disappointment to her. She sighed almost expecting bad news.

"Actually," Levi said walking over to the group of students. "They are the most well-behaved students I have. Your children are angels in class and have tried harder than all of the other students combined. They stay after school and ask questions about the homework instead of leaving them blank. These kids are some of the best students I've had in all my years of teaching here," he said silencing the rude and ungrateful mother for a moment before his phone rang saving the day. He walked over to it and looked at the caller ID. It was Eren. He picked it up and answered it.

"Hello?" He said and instantly Eren replied.

"Pretend I'm Erwin," he said.

"Yes Mr. Smith," he said before covering the phone and looking over at the woman, "sorry it's my boss I have to go," he said before exiting the room with the phone up to his ear. He headed over to Hanji's room where everyone was. He almost felt guilty for leaving the children in there with that horrid woman.

He walked in the room to where Eren and Hanji were. He looked up at them and was about to ask something, but Hanji cut him off and answered the question for him.

"I already called Erwin he's heading in there right now," she said and Levi nodded.

Erwin headed into the classroom that was eerily quiet. He could instantly tell who they wanted him to talk to. "Hello," he said greeting both Ash and Evelyn, "I am Erwin Smith, the principal," he introduced himself and when he distracted Evelyn he magically got her to follow him as he gave her a tour of the school to get her away from the class until it was time for all of the parents to come in.

When she was gone everyone headed back into the room seeing the kids and Ash sitting there with relief over their faces. Ash and Thoms were talking already when they walked in. Ash was just checking on her brother to make sure that witch didn't steal his soul or anything.

"I hate her," Alex muttered to Levi as he walked up to check on them.

"She is pretty terrible," he said, and he patted her head, "Erwin's going to keep her distracted for a bit." He said which Alex nodded to.

"I need to go to the bathroom," TJ said abruptly getting up and leaving the room not looking anyone in the eyes.

Thomas went to walk after him but stopped in his tracks knowing he didn't know how to help him. Eren nodded to Thomas and left the room following TJ. When Eren caught up to TJ he was in the bathroom leaning up against the wall with his hair in his face.

"You okay?" He asked startling him.

TJ turned his head away wiping his eyes. "I'm fine," he sniffled.

Eren walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Wanna talk about it?" He asked.

TJ just shrugged at first. After a few minutes of silence, he began to speak. "As much as I want to hate that woman I can't. All she does is make my life a living hell, makes it so that I can't be myself, makes me hate myself for just being who I am, makes me afraid of everything, hurts me in more ways than one, makes everyone I care about hate me eventually, takes away the things I care about most, despite all of this I can't bring myself to hate her and it's driving me fucking insane," TJ said with a fast and shaky raised voice before running his fingers through his hair and crouching down keeping his head tucked low.

This was one of the first times Eren's heard TJ voice go this loud, let alone him curse in such a way. He knew this must be really eating at him. He crouched down next to him and pulled him into a hug. At first, TJ didn't respond to it he just kept crying and shaking until finally he released his tight hole of his hair and wrapped his arms around Eren and gripping his jacket tightly burying his face into his chest as he just sat there and cried. Eren held him and ran his fingers through his hair petting his head trying to calm him down.

After he did calm down a bit Eren suggested that they go somewhere to talk beside the bathroom where anyone could walk in at any moment. "Why don't we go to Hanji's class," Eren suggested. "I have a spare key," he said showing it to him and TJ nodded.
