Flowers
Levi was reading as he kept a close eye on TJ to make sure his mood didn't change. He knew TJ and Eren were pretty similar in the sense of how they acted when depression hit. So he knew what signs he needed to look out for to make sure that TJ was still doing okay. He knew that with everything that had happened that TJ would be putting up an act to try and make it seem that he was okay. He knew that okay was the last thing that boy was. He wished that he knew how to connect with him better, but mostly he left that to Eren since he knew that Eren could practically read what he was feeling just by glancing at him.
Eren had come down the stairs for a moment, but he hadn't cleaned up yet so he still had wet paint that was on his old clothes that were riddled with paint stains.
TJ's eye flicked up to Eren with questioning eyes. He looked a little confused about the paint filled clothes but he remained quiet.
"Hey hun," Levi said looking up at Eren. "What's up?" He asked seeing Eren still in his messy clothes.
"I just came down to say I love you," Eren said kissing Levi on the forehead.
Levi let out a slight giggle and pulled Eren in for a kiss.
TJ saw it and stopped himself from laughing but he watched on knowing, 'oh god this isn't going to end well.'
Eren brought his hands up to Levi's cheeks pulling him deeper into the kiss. Levi felt it and instantly pulled away.
"You asshole," Levi said shaking his head with a sarcastic smile before standing up.
Eren gave a cheeky smile before saying, "bye," and running back up the stairs.
Levi, who now had two bright purple handprints of paint across each cheek headed towards the bathroom to wash it off. He paused in the hallway when he heard TJ laugh slightly. He turned around and TJ threw his hands over his mouth.
"You could have at least warned me," Levi said teasingly with a smile before heading into the bathroom.
"But that would have spoiled the fun," Eren yelled from the top of the stairs half expecting Levi to have chased him up them.
"Whatever," Levi yelled back before closing the bathroom door.
TJ had noticed Alex moved so that she was mostly lying on the couch only. He took the opportunity to slip out from under her. He was curious why Eren had a bunch of paint on him and he couldn't help but adventure a little bit. TJ walked up the stairs and realized Eren was nowhere in sight.
"Eren?" He asked quietly thinking about just heading back down the stairs.
"In here," Eren said from a room that TJ had never been in before.
He was hesitant to enter so he walked up to the doorway and stopped there. Eren was standing in the middle of a room in front of an easel holding a paintbrush, and when he looked at the walls he saw art everywhere.
"I didn't know you could paint," He said impressed. "It's beautiful," TJ gasped.
"Thanks," Eren smiled. "I was going to wait to show you guys later after it dried, but do you want to see what I've been working on now?" Eren asked.
TJ nodded and walked forward as Eren had gestured him too. He saw a relatively small canvas in front of him. It looked no bigger than the top of one of those small collapsible tables you used while sitting on the couch. Eren moved aside so TJ could see what was on it. He saw two bouquets of flowers, each had three. One leaning towards the middle to the right and one leaning towards the middle to the left. The first one he looked at was the one on the left leaning to the right. He saw a few different flowers the first one he noticed was a bright purple one. Next to it was a white one that he recognized as a daisy, and next to that was a pink one he had never seen before. The other bouquet of flowers on the right side had a yellow flower, a white flower, and a blue one, and he didn't recognize any of these. The background looked like a garden and you could see the sky and some other plants in the background. The flowers were all very detailed, and if the paint wasn't still slightly wet he would have sworn he was looking at an actual garden.
"They're gorgeous," TJ said. He knew that there was some hidden meaning in the painting, right? There's always a hidden meaning. "What's the meaning of the painting?" TJ asked hoping that there is one.
Eren smiled widely. "Each of these six flowers mean something," Eren started before looking back at the painting. "They represent you and your sister based on the flowers meaning," Eren said and TJ took another look at the painting.
"What do they mean?" He asked curiously.
"I'll tell you what they mean and you tell me which bouquet is your's and which is your sister's," Eren said and TJ nodded. Eren pointed at the three on the left side of the canvas. "This one," he said pointing at the purple one, "is a Purple Crocus, it means cheerfulness. This one," he said pointing at the Daisy, "you might have recognized, it means innocence. This last one," he said pointing to the pink one, "is a Bouvardia Double, it means a zest for life or enthusiasm," Eren said before looking at TJ. "Do you know whose these are?" Eren asked.
"They're my sisters," he said undoubtedly.
Eren nodded and moved on to the next ones. "So these are yours," he said pointing at them before singling out the first one. "This one," he said pointing at the yellow one, "is a Gladiolus, it means strength of character and cheerfulness. This one," Eren said pointing at the white one, "is a Chrysanthemum they mean loyalty and honesty. This last one," Eren said pointing at a bright blue one, "is an Iris, and it means daydreaming and imagination," Eren said looking at TJ. "Do you think they are fitting?" Eren asked trying to see what he thought, and more importantly to show him that he had more to him that he thought.
"I don't know," TJ said thinking it over. "I guess," he said shyly with a shrug and a small smile.
"Good," Eren smiled.
"Did you paint all of those?" TJ asked pointing at a stack of canvases over in the corner.
"Yup," Eren smiled proudly, "you can look at them if you want," he said before heading to clean off his brushes.
TJ looked through the paintings and each of them was gorgeous and had so much detail. He could tell that most of these paintings had hidden meanings behind them or a story.
One of the biggest ones had a fair setting that had the Ferris wheel in the background. The whole painting was detailed and looked like an actual picture. Off to the side was the ocean and the sandy beach, but it was darker, it looked as if all the light next to it had completely vanished, and above it, the sky had bright stars that shimmered in the ocean. It looked as if things were actually moving. TJ had felt like he was there with the water crashing on the shore, the lights of the pier twinkling, he could almost hear the noises of people laughing. He noticed a booth towards the front of the painting with two panda bears on the counter.
He moved on looking at another painting. This one seemed a lot darker than the others. It also seemed to be quiet new. There was this beautiful angel, but instead of the angel being bright and radiant the light seemed dim, almost as if it was flickering threatening to go out. The angel's face had the mouth open as if it was screaming, tears streaming down the cheeks and the eyes red and puffy. The angel's arm reached towards TJ almost as if it was coming off the canvas. A desperate cry for help that seemed to be silenced by the fabric of the canvas. Around the angel instead of there being a nice heavenly view, there was hellish fire almost as if it was threatening to engulf the angel. Around the angel's wrists and ankles, there were tight shackles that had cut off the blood flow from the angel's arms, and they were so tight that they seemed to have rubbed the skin raw to the point blood was visible. The chains disappeared into the background where demons were tugging on them. They looked like they were trying to drag the crying angel back into the flames.
TJ had understood the message of this picture, at least he was pretty sure he did. "Depression," TJ mumbled.
"Yeah," Eren sighed. TJ nearly jumped not realizing that Eren had come back into the room. "I was going through a rough time," Eren said before going to kneel down next to TJ.
"Sorry," TJ said, "these are probably personal."
"Yeah, but I don't mind sharing them," Eren smiled. "I mean I've sold quite a few of them," Eren said, "these are just the ones that I kept for myself or haven't yet sold," he said with a shrug.
"I see," TJ said. "Are you going to sell that one?" He asked gesturing towards the angel one.
"Yeah," Eren said, "it's best to keep the positive ones," Eren shrugged.
"What about this one?" TJ said gesturing to the one with the Ferris wheel.
"Nope," Eren said with a smile, "that was me and Levi's first real date," Eren said with a smile, "I wouldn't give that up for all the money in the world," he said touching the ring on his finger.
TJ had flipped through a few more paintings and he stumbled across a small one that also seemed to be new and he got a little confused. This was the darkest painting he had seen yet.
There was a realistic heart in protecting hands, most-likely the owners, and there were other hands that were desperately pulling at the heart ripping it as they did. There was so much blood and TJ felt like his chest hurt just looking at this picture. The pain in this painting was obvious. The meaning of This painting was more out in the open than some of the other ones. "What's this one," TJ asked looking up at Eren.
"That one was a misunderstanding," Eren shrugged.
"Did Levi cheat on you?" TJ asked before shaking his head. "Sorry, it's none of my business," he said.
"No he didn't," Eren answered, "it was a misunderstanding he was acting secretive and he had lipstick on his cheek and I jumped to a conclusion," Eren answered.
"Lipstick?" TJ asked wondering how that was a misunderstanding.
"He was hanging out with my sister, and her girlfriend had done her makeup," Eren shrugged. "My sister and Levi are like family too so she always kisses him on the cheek and well, you can figure it out from there," Eren said with a slight chuckle.
"Oh," TJ laughed, "I see. Are you selling it," he asked.
"Yup," Eren said, "that's one mistake I'd like to forget," Eren said with a nervous chuckle.
TJ smiled and nodded, "makes sense." He looked through a few more and most of them had happy tones to them. 'Eren was right when he keeps some he really does only keep the happy ones.'
"A lot of these are being sold," Eren spoke up, "I think there is like five that I have that I actually keep," Eren shrugged.
"Are you going to sell that one?" TJ asked pointing to the newest one.
"I don't know," Eren smiled. "It's up to you guys what happens to that painting," Eren shrugged, "I mean it's yours after all."
Author's Note~ If the flower meanings are wrong I'm sorry. I did as much research as I could to make sure they were correct, but I might have messed up. Anyways please enjoy the chapter. ^.^ ~ Lawliet TJ
