Filling Them In

Eren, despite everything that happened, was happy, he couldn't help but smile. Two of the four people who had destroyed his childhood were now in prison. The third was going to be questioned by the police and possibly arrested, the fourth, his father, has stayed out of his life since he left. Not to mention that he got to finally get some revenge by breaking probably several of his ribs in that final blow to his chest.

The car ride home was silent. Levi kept his face forward, but his eyes occasionally would drift over just to check on Eren. He knew that Eren was fine in the moment, but he knew that that would change, and when it did he wanted to make sure that he was there for him. The kids stayed quiet in the back seat looking out the window trying to process what had happened in the store. They still weren't even really sure what was happening or who that guy was.

When they pulled up to the house they all got out of the car and carried everything in the house making a few trips. They brought everything in the room before they all sat down on the couch tired from unloading. They were planning on getting started on the room, but they had all agreed to take a break and get off their feet for a little while. While sitting on the couch everyone was still pretty quiet.

"Where did you learn how to do that?" Alex finally spoke up talking to TJ.

"Do what?" He asked looking at her confused.

"How to break someone's leg," she clarified.

"I just assumed something would happen I didn't know his leg would break, I just moved. I don't even really know how I did it in the first place," he shrugged.

"Well, I'm glad you did," Eren spoke up. "You really helped me out," he said thanking TJ again.

"Who was that guy?" TJ asked before shaking his head, "sorry, you don't have to answer that," he said immediately after forgetting to filter his curious nature.

"He was a bad man from my past," Eren said before standing up, "If you want any more information about it you'll have to hound Levi for it," Eren smiled at them. When Levi looked at Eren he had given him a nod to tell Levi it's okay to tell them. "I'm going to go change into my painting clothes," he said before disappearing up the stairs.

The kids looked at Levi hesitant to ask any questions feeling like if they did they would be intruding.

"If you guys want to know I'll tell you, Eren said it was okay," he said. "He leaves it to me because he knows if he talks about it the memories will come back up," Levi explained Eren's absence.

"Are you sure it's okay?" Alex asked.

Levi nodded and she asked the first question. "Do you know who he was?" She asked.

"That man was friends with Eren's father. He and two other guys used to hurt him," Levi said taking a breath, "Eren never fought back because he made a deal with them at the time," Levi said taking another breath trying to disregard the obvious hatred in his voice. "Their deal was they could do whatever they wanted to Eren if they left his sister alone."

"Eren has a sister?" TJ asked a little confused that she hasn't been mentioned... maybe she has been and he just wasn't paying attention he thought for a moment.

"Yeah, Mikasa," Levi smiled, "she's really nice... when she wants to be," Levi laughed. "She tends to drop by every once in awhile so you might see her around one of these times," Levi smiled. "Maybe even soon she promised to stop by sometime this week."

"Why didn't Eren just tell his dad that his friends were hurting him," Alex asked afraid she already knew the answer. She had remembered what Eren had told them when they were talking about back to school night.

'My dad wasn't the most reasonable guy either.' He had told them with such hatred that they knew something was up.

"He was the one who told them they could have at him," Levi said between gritted teeth before taking a breath. His jaw remained stiff, "his father is nothing more than a drunk abusive cunt," Levi said before taking a breath.

"Language," Eren said standing at the bottom of the stairs that no one had heard him walk down. "There are children here," Eren laughed before taking a seat in on the couch with his paint riddled clothes. Levi was just thankful that the paint was all dry... this time.

"Are you sure you want to be down here?" Levi asked looking at Eren with sympathetic eyes.

"Yeah, I'll be fine," Eren said with a dismissive shrug knowing that it would affect him, but he had recently been able to better control his emotions so he thought he could handle it.

"Okay," Levi said before nodding at the kids to continue.

They hesitated for a moment and Eren reassured them again that it's okay.

"You're dad abused you?" TJ asked with sadness in his voice. Eren really had been through a lot, yet he was able to retain such happiness and move past it all.

"Yeah," Eren sighed, "he sent me to the hospital on more than one occasion, almost killed me a few times too," Eren said before shaking his head a little getting whatever disturbing thought that had popped into his head out of it. "The last time he sent me to the hospital he actually kinda helped me by getting me and my sister out of the house. We moved out before we had to go back," Eren shrugged.

"Why didn't you just leave before that?" Alex asked.

"Because they were after my sister if I left they would have got to her, and at the time the police were very corrupt and one of these men had worked for them. We knew that if we left they would track us down. We weren't 18 yet so they could call us runaways and do it legally," Eren sighed, "So even after I turned 18 I had to wait for her to turn 18 too," Eren said.

"That guy's face was messed up pretty badly," TJ had noted before looking at Levi's broken hand. "Did you do that?" He asked.

"No," Levi said plainly, "if I would have got my hands on him he would have been dead already," Levi said with a blank stare. Eren put his hand on Levi's leg snapping him out of the anger induced trance. "That other guy who you guys ran into, Jean, he's the one to thank for that," Levi said with a small smile.

"That explains his broken hand," Alex nodded.

"That also explains why Levi, as Eren had told them earlier, 'got in a fight with a wall,'" TJ laughed.

"Nah," Eren laughed, "Levi and the walls get in a lot of fights,"Eren said shaking his head, "and Levi's usually the one to lose," he laughed.

"Shut up," Levi groaned in annoyance. Eren pointed at at least three repainted sections in the wall where they had to fix because Levi either made a hole in it or dented it.

"I still need to fix the hole you punched in the bathroom," Eren laughed remembering.

Levi brought his hands up to his face rubbing at his eyes a little annoyed and embarrassed by Eren's accurate teasing. "No need for the personal attacks," Levi said before standing up leaving to get a glass of water, just to show he could storm out if he wanted, but he came back with a glass in his hand a moment later to finish the rest of the conversation.

"Why do you punch walls?" Alex asked raising an eyebrow.

"I don't really know, it's just always been a thing I had done to deal with my anger," Levi shrugged and kept the second half in his head. Mostly because it hurts me every time I do it and it used to be my way of punishing myself for having such a bad temper.

They finished talking a little more and they explained as much as they could. Afterwards, the kids both walked over and hugged Eren. TJ pulled Eren aside asking if he could talk to him in private for a minute and Eren agreed. Levi went into his office and Alex had walked up the stairs to the room to give them some privacy. They stayed on the couch and proceeded to talk.

"Are you okay?" TJ asked him.

"Yeah, I'm doing better now knowing that two of them are behind bars," Eren gave him a slight smile.

"Are you sure," he asked with a little more concern in his eyes.

"Yeah, why," Eren asked.

"Because the whole time we've all been talking you've been digging your nails into your hand," TJ said pointing at Eren's hands where he was still doing it.

Eren released his grip looking down at his hands with a confused face since he hadn't even realized he was doing it. "Sorry," he said after a moment, "old habits are a pain to kick sometimes," Eren said with a shrug before pulling down his sleeves that he had noticed had slid up slightly.

"Yeah," TJ sighed, "I get that," he nodded.

"Thanks again for stepping in," Eren said placing his hand on TJ's shoulder. "As much as I'm grateful for you doing that I still can't help but be concerned," Eren said staring into TJ's eyes. "You threw yourself straight into danger without so much as a second thought," he said taking a breath as he felt some tears come back up.

TJ opened his arms up to give Eren another hug since it looked like he needed one. Eren took the hug and held the boy tight before whispering in his ear. "I was so scared," TJ apologized for making Eren worry but knew when Eren said that his words held a double meaning. He was scared for TJ's sake, but also he was scared for his own sake too.

TJ stayed their hugging Eren he knew Eren wasn't fully himself at the moment and he knew he was having a hard time. He knew Een was crying despite being silent about it. He could feel as his body shook slightly from the silent tears.
