Bickering

"Sorry for the weird questions," Tate apologized noticing at how unsettled they looked by that statement. "It's just good to know, that means I have someone here I can trust. I can only imagine that you both know what it's like to become a target for people's amusement especially by how your body language got really defensive when I said that." Tate said before he seemed to feel the same unsettling feeling they felt but his was more distant the threat he was seeing wasn't in the room but in his own mind.

"People still don't accept LGBT people," He said before he whispering almost inaudibly "they don't accept me." He bit his lip in order to not say anything more that what he had already said.

He seemed to come back to reality when his sister put her hand on his to calm him down. She seemed to have a feeling of what was going on and was able to help.

TJ was right, Eren knew all too well what it felt like to be targeted by people just for loving who he loves. He couldn't help but think back to the accident in the bathroom a few years back. That incident still haunted some of his dreams of what could have happened if Levi didn't stop them or if they hurt Levi. Even the several little instances where he and Levi would just go out to eat together or to the store together. All the dirty looks and the occasional person walking up to them telling them they were going to hell reminded him all too much of how easy it was to become a target of a person who didn't care to understand the love between two people.

"If you ever need anything feel free to come straight to us," Levi said giving him a friendly smile while pointing to the three teachers in the room. "We will look out for you." He said with a reassuring tone and for a moment Eren swore he saw a smile on Tate's face.

"Thank you. Oh, and you don't have to worry about me or my sister spreading this around. We know you both would probably like your privacy." TJ said reassuring his now favorite teachers that their relationship wouldn't be exposed just yet.

"Thank you, I really appreciate it," Eren said smiling back to TJ. He looked back over to Levi to see how he was feeling and he caught him smiling. It looked like he wasn't even trying to hide the fact that he had emotions, well at least not at the moment. Did this kid make him drop the mask that hid all emotions from everyone?

"Yeah, thanks. Some kids can be ruthless." Levi said sounding like he was talking from experience.

"You guys are so sweet," Hanji said before facing Levi. "Holy shit Levi you're smiling!" She exclaimed snapping Levi out of his emotions making him put the wall back up.

"Am not shitty four eyes." He said wiping the smile off his face and going back to his food.

The two kids just snickered at the teachers playful bickering.

"Alright calm down you guys, and can you keep the cursing to a minimal," Erwin said slipping into the room to check up on the group of the troublemaker teachers. "Thanks for the food Hanji it was delicious," Erwin said before turning to look at the two kids and crouching down next to them.

"So how is your day going so far?" He asked with a welcoming smile mostly surprised that there were actually people in Levi's room again.

"So far it's been amazing," Alex said smiling widely at the principal.

Erwin nodded "That's good." He turned to look at Tate. "And what about yours?" He asked with the same kind smile.

Tate avoided his eye contact and tried to think of what to say. "It's not as bad as I thought it would be." He whispered and his lips formed a faint smile for a split second. He remained looking down as he played with his fingers fidgeting to get rid of some of his anxiety.

"Well, I'm glad to hear that." He said before standing up and walking over to the noisy group of teachers who were still teasing each other and throwing around profanity.

"Well, at least I'm not a short bastard," Hanji said before Erwin cut the two of them off.

"Behave you guys." Erwin laughed thinking the two freshmen students were more well behaved than the teachers.

"Sorry Eyebrows," Levi said with a smirk teasing him trying to get on his nerves so he would join in with the silly teasing.

"Yeah, yeah, hilarious." He said not getting sucked into their pissing match of insults. He directing his attention to Eren who seemed to be lost in his thoughts.

"Hey, Eren you doing okay?" He said kneeling down next to him. He noticed that Eren looked as if he was death glaring the plate of food in front of him.

"Huh, yeah, sorry," Eren said refocusing back to the conversation that was in front of him. "I didn't get much sleep last night. I was to worry about today."

Erwin nodded "Yeah you'll get used to that feeling happens every year at the beginning of the school year." Erwin smiled and shrugged.

"It's funny Levi said the same thing this morning." Eren laughed a little before shrugging it off.

"Anyways glad to see that today hasn't been all that bad for everyone," Erwin said before turning to walk away. He turned his head back just enough to look at Levi and Hanji who were still at each other's throats with the insults growing. He swore by how much they fought they must have been related.

"If you two piss poor excuses of teachers are done fighting I would like to return back to my room." Erwin teased smiling at them letting them know he hasn't lost his playful attitude.

"Fine, fine," Levi said waving his hand. "Truce?"

"Truce," Hanji said giving in.

"Good, I'll see you guys later," Erwin said heading for the door. He peeked behind him one more time to take a look at Eren and noticed that he looked disturbed by something. Erwin knew that look by now there was some sort of internal battle taking place. Maybe bringing him back to the school wasn't such a good idea? 'I'll talk to him later.' Erwin thought knowing he had to return to his job.
