Robin could tell there had been a struggle. The chairs were turned over, papers were scattered all over the floor, and the dresser was shoved in front of the door. There was no sign of Maria. He quickly raced back through the secret tunnel. At the entrance to the cave, he saw drag marks leading to the woods.

That's what I heard earlier, how could I have been so stupid! He thought. I could have saved her. I'll need help to find her... but who? Elizabeth! Surely my best friend will help me get Maria back. With a new surge of hope, Robin raced back toward the de Noir castle.

He ran to his friend's room and knocked quickly. "Elizabeth, open. I have to talk to you!" The door opened, and Robin saw his friend. surprisingly, she was wide awake and had on normal clothes instead of sleepy-eyed and clad in a nightgown. He quickly dismissed it and asked, "Will you help me? Please, you are my best friend, and I really need your help."

"What could be so important that you come banging on my door at this hour of the night?"

"Maria! I was going to tell her how I feel, but her room was empty, and someone kidnapped her! I have to tell her how in love with her I am!" Robin said excitedly.

Elizabeth's face twisted in anger. "No!"

"Why not? After all, you are already dressed." Robin pointed out.

"Because I don't want to! Now go away!" she hissed venomously, and slammed the door shut.

Arrgh!!! He thought, Sometimes Elizabeth can be such a pain! He decided that the first Moon Princess's hideout was as logical place to start his search as any.

Robin walked through the woods to the clearing, and stooped down into the secret room. Sitting on the bed, bound and gagged, was Maria.

"Maria!" he whisper-yelled. He saw her eyes widen in shock and - fear? But Robin didn't have time to think about it because he heard voices coming from the passage to the amphitheater. He quickly pulled his knife out of his belt and his it next to Maria. The door started to open, and Robin raced to get out. He ran to a nearby tree, and hoisted himself up. he was hidden well enough that he couldn't be seen from the ground, but he could still see the hideout entrance.
