Chapter Two

Shane hadn't seen Devin in a while. As if he'd been staying away from him. He sighed, glancing around in boredom. He yawned, glancing out the window. Shane walked around his room, rather his and Devin's room. The small space was lit dimly from the dawn light. He sniffed, glancing at Elda, who looked almost looked just as confused as Shane. "Do you know where he went?" Shane asked. Elda only flicked her tail before she curled up in a tight ball. Shane huffed. "Thanks for your help." He said sarcastically. Elda mewed in response. Shane walked out of the room, finding Dawson reading on the couch. Like always. "Where the hell is Devin?" Shane asked. Dawson grinned.
"In the debts of hell." Dawson responded.
"That's a little bit...serious.." Shane raised an eyebrow.
"Oh shush, it's his true form. A demon. It's why his name starts with D." Dawson joked.
Shane huffed again, taking an abandoned glass of water and splashed it at Dawson. Dawson put his arms up to defend the book from wet pages, but the water stopped, flopping uselessly to the ground, making a splat. Dawson blinked.
"How the heck...?" Shane whispered.
"I honestly don't k-know, Shane," Dawson said shakily. "First it was Devin's wings...now water suddenly stopping in mid air just by raising an arm-"
"WAIT, SINCE WHEN DID DEVIN GET WINGS?!" Shane yelled.
"Er..when you were away." Dawson responded blankly. His gaze darted behind Shane's shoulder. "No..." He mumbled.
Shane bursted away, running to the room. He saw his reflection in the window and yelling in surprise, fell on his bed. He saw Dawson at the doorway.
"You look, uh, different." Dawson chuckled awkwardly.
"You could have told me earlier!" Shane snapped, rolling onto his belly and touching the blue feathers helplessly.
"I didn't realize until I looked over your shoulder, you idiot." Dawson said blankly.
"What the heck am I? You know most about birds." Shane asked.
"You haven't figured that out yourself? A blue jay." Dawson said.
"Oh great." Shane grumbled.
"I thought about Devin when I looked. It's actually what led me to." Dawson mumbled.
"Aww, you're so sweet. Thinking of your brother and all."
"Say that one more time, I will literally rip those wings off of your goddamn back."
"Dang."
Dawson nodded quickly and walked out, looking scarred for life.
Shane sat alone on his bed. "This is going to be harder than expected."

Shane slapped Devin awake. Devin awoke, startled.
"W-wha..?" Devin mumbled tiredly.
"If we have wings, we have to use them." Shane grumbled.
"Shane, we don't even know much about how to use them. It'd be a suicide mission." Devin blinked.
"So we learn." Shane said, walking over to the window.
Devin grabbed his sleeve. "Stop, Shane. I'm not going to be the one calling for help." Devin begged.
Shane stared at Devin for a moment. "Fine..For you, Devin." Shane smiled.
Devin hugged Shane, pulling him onto the bed. "Is this weird?" He asked after a while.
"No." Shane answered, putting an arm around Devin. Elda slipped through the crack in the door, jumping onto the two. She flicked her tail, sitting on Devin's foot.
"Little Ms. Clueless." Devin murmured.
Shane chuckled. "Your cat, not mine." He said.
"Oh shut up." Devin grumbled, snuggling up to Shane's side.
Shane sighed, holding Devin close. "Good Night."

Shane jumped as Dawson yelled from the hallway, "Love birds!"
"Shut your mouth, Dawson!" Devin yelled back.
"Devin and Shane sittin' in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Dawson joked.
Shane panted hard. "Son of a..."
"First comes love, then comes- AH!" Dawson fell to the ground as Devin attacked him.
Shane stood up and walked out of the door, passing the two. He looked out the window, not bothering his blue jay wings were showing like a bright light. "What is going on...?"
