Chapter 6
Glorfindel awoke to a warm room, not the battle field, not Mandos, no where he had expected to be. It was the healing rooms in none other than the healing wing, but he did not recognise the healing room as Elhael's.
A sharp pain stabbed into the center of his chest where he assumed that the knife had hit him. The Lord saw that he had been changed from his riding clothes into a long white sleeping robe. He could feel that his chest had been bandaged tightly and obviously, the knife had been removed.
"You shouldn't strain yourself. That knife went straight between your ribs. You're lucky it did not hit your lungs." The Lord of Imladris walked in through he arch. His black hair cascaded down his back and his grey eyes showed light sparks of starlight. The Commander tried to push himself to the back of the bed he was on but only ended up hurting himself more. "Didn't you hear me earlier?" Elrond sat on the edge of the bed and looked over to the Commander.
"Elrond? I thought you didn't-" Glorfindel gave a sharp gasp of pain. He looked back down to his chest where the blood was beginning to pool. The healer moved his hand to look at the wound but the Commander pulled himself back with a groan.
"Answer me honestly Glorfindel, are you afraid of me?" The healer looked more worried than angry. His silver eyes sparking. "It was because of what happened those few days ago was it not?" The blue eyed Vanya looked down to the red blotch across his chest.
"I don't blame you." Glorfindel looked up in surprise to the healer who now was facing the Valley outside. "If someone I trusted turned on me like I did, I would be scared of them." He looked back too the Commander with sorrowful eyes. "Ánillo avatyarë, mellon nin."
Glorfindel felt dazed. He had seen Elrond last when the Lord slit his arm and threw him into the hall. True, it was something he would not soon forget, but he knew that it was not something his friend would have done. He had known the healer long enough to know.
"Tenn'oio nát nildenyá and I will always forgive you." He met the eyes of the healer and went on. "I have known you long and I know you would never do such a thing, which is why I wanted answers. I should not have approached the matter is in such a way, for that I will you for forgiveness. Yet, I still wish to know, why? Do you trust me enough to tell me?" Elrond looked away as quickly as he had given Glorfindel his gaze.
"Let me tend to your wounds, if you can stay awake I will explain what I can." Glorfindel, glad to hear that the Lord would tell him what he so desperately what he wished to hear, gave a curt nod. Elrond pushed up the long time until he could see the bandages. They had turned from white to red in a small amount of time. The Lord took out a small knife made from iron and cut the bandage on the side so the blood would not smear on the sheets.
Glorfindel watched Elrond with weary eyes and a small spark of fear when the Lord pulled the knife from his waist. The healer pulled away the bandages revealing a gap in between the Commander's ribs. It was bloody and the red liquid seeped out of the gash without a pause.
Elrond took a small jar of green paste and left a little of it over the stab. It was made from plants, that was easy to see, but it set the wound on fire. The Commander wiggled around trying to lessen the fire in his chest, but to no avail.
The Lord could see Glorfindel's discomfort and quickly bandaged the wound even though he knew it would not make the pain go away.
"Do you want me to give you something for the pain?"
"Of course not. I want too hear your story, and all of the pain lessening mixtures make me fall asleep." Elrond looked at the warrior sadly. "Sit on the edge over here and begin to tell me what you will." Elrond shook his head in a defiant matter. He walked over to where he had gotten the paste and instead got something in a real glass. It was clear, so it had to be water.
"Drink it. All of it. I will tell you what I can afterwords." Glorfindel signed but accepted the glass. If drinking water was all he had to do, he would do it. The Commander downed it, but it still did not taste like any thing.
"Will you begin now?"
"Alright. Well, I suppose if I should start anywhere, I should tell you why I hurt you. To put it plainly, ever sense Celebrian left I feel out of control. I'm losing myself. I go from one extreme to another faster than I can react. From fits of anger, to streams of sadness, they are there and they wish to ruin my life. Sometimes I think I no longer have any control over my own life, and it is a sick feeling."
Elrond paused for a moment before looking back to Glorfindel. "There is more of it than that. But, the story with the gash-" Glorfindel gave a sleepy yawn and and looked up to the Lord. Elrond shook his head, "I suppose I can tell you that part some time one day. Through, I hope you might be able to understand what happened."
"You should tell me-" Glorfindel yawned again. "now."
"You should rest mellon nin, no doubt you have your own problems." Elrond have him a sad look. "I have my own as well."
"Can't they be ours?" Glorfindel seemed sleepy but he did not want Elrond to leave him alone, he did not want to be alone. "Wait." He caught the wrist of Elrond and when the raven haired man turned back Glorfindel looked at him, hopefully getting plenty of attention. "Stay with me, I do not want to be alone."
Elrond have the Commander another sad smile but sat down on the bed again. Glorfindel intertwined his hand with Elrond's and closed his eyes. "You will tell me tomorrow?"
"If that is what you wish."
