Chapter Seven: Cat-Man
“You think he’s still chasing us?” Bobby asks as the two run back towards Bobby's childhood house.
Turning around quickly, Andy replies with, “I don’t see him, I think he gave up.”
They change their pace to a slow walk, going up the stairs towards the front door.
Just as Andy is about to open the door, Bobby puts his hand on his arm, moving him away from the door. “Mom'll kill us, I'd give her a day or two to calm down.”
“Where are we gonna stay, then? I don’t see any hotels around here,” Andy says.
“We can’t stay outside tonight; it’s Friday,” Bobby says, frowning.
“What does that mean?” Andy asks, confused.
“Well, every Friday night, a ManCat comes out and does cat stuff. He's also as naked as the day he was born, so you don’t wanna see him. Once, he scratched a kid in the face because he wanted to see him in person.”
“Ok…” Andy replies, perplexed.
“I’m not joking, if you think I am,” Bobby deadpans.
“So, we’ve gotta find a place to stay before he comes out?” Andy asks.
“Yes.”

The two hesitantly walk towards ‘Potato Man’s Potatoes’, not sure what to expect when they ask the owner if they can spend the night. It is a store, not a hotel, and even though the two know that, no one named Charles has made a motel called ‘Matt’s Motel’ yet.
They open the wooden door with a wet doorknob- they’d rather not know why it’s wet. Just like at Tod’s Toenails, a man immediately greets them when they enter, only this time he looks to be in his forties. A beard that hasn’t been shaved in what looks like years is taking over his face, complete with a bald head. Must be a look. A white shirt and what appears to be boxers is his attire, his skin very tan.
“Howdy! I'm the Potato Man, and I'm sorry if you were looking for potatoes, I don’t have any,” he says to them.
“Why not?” The two ask at the same time.
“Well, this town really likes potatoes. I brought some with me when I moved here, and they killed someone so they could get my potatoes. I’m not sure what they did with him, but I decided to make a store with the word potato in it, as a business tactic. No one comes anymore, though. They found out I don’t have any potatoes.”
