» Chapter Fifty Five «
Ranboo's Point of View~
Normally on Valentines Days, I would try and skip school since I don't really have much of a thing to do on those days other than show appreciation to my parents and my relatives. But this year was gonna be different with me going to school and having a girlfriend. I didn't prepare much but I guess it's the thought that counts.
I remember Amber saying that she mostly stayed home during Valentines Days so he doesn't have to deal with Jason but now she's pretty much free and technically has me as a boyfriend so things are about to change a lot for the both of us.
I quickly finished eating my breakfast and brushed my teeth and made my way to the front door as I wore my shoes and headed out the door. The air seemed fresh and relieving. I took a deep breath and sighed and walked down the steps and made my way outside.
That's when I see the familiar blonde hair coming up to me from the distance. She seemed to quicken her pace even more when she saw me. I smiled as soon as she caught up to me. It honestly made my day happier whenever I see her.
"You seem to be in a happy mood." I heard her say as I laughed.
"Well good morning to you too. I guess it's just a good day really." I said, smiling to myself.
"Oh and Happy Valentines Day." I said, giving her a hug which she instantly returned.
"I normally don't celebrate this day much but I guess I can now." She said with a small giggle.
"I don't have much planned for today after school but honestly I ran out of ideas." I said, nervously rubbing the back of my neck.
"Let me guess: You never celebrated this day much either huh?" She asked as if she could read me well.
"Yeah I guess." I said before grabbing her hand.
"Let's get to school. We don't wanna be late." I told her as we continued to walk.
"I rather skip school and just spend the rest of today with my boyfriend." She said making us both laugh.
"I would have done that too but we just gotta wait for a few more days or so." I told her.
"Honestly glad that they ending highschool a bit earlier than expected in April. Would have lost my mind if it were two more months of pain." She said as I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah but you gotta deal with college so that's something." I said, pointing out the obvious as she groaned.
"Oh my god please don't remind me of that. It's already giving me nightmares." She said as I sighed.
"Alright I won't." I said smiling and walked in silence.
Though when we arrived at the school gate, what surprised me was the principle outside talking to a man and woman in a business suit. They seemed to be married to each other and seemed to be distraught and upset. They didn't notice us until we walked closer to them.
"Ah! Miss Stevenson and Mr. Anderson. You two are right on time." Our principle said as I glanced at Amber who did the same before looking back at them.
"Is something the matter?" Amber spoke up first.
"These nice people wanted to talk to you both about the events that took place yesterday. You may already tell who they are." The principle said as I took a good look at the people before realizing that they are definitely Jason's parents.
"You're Jason's parents right?" I blurted out as my grip on Amber's hand tightened a little.
"Yes they are and they would like to have a small chat with you two so I'll leave you be." The principle said before walking inside the building leaving us four outside as we all stood without speaking a word.
"So you must be Amber if I am correct?" The woman spoke as Amber let go of my hand and just crossed her arms over her chest before nodding.
"Yeah... I am." She said.
"I know you aren't happy seeing us since we are our son's parents and we heard what he has done and we didn't have a single clue about it either." The father spoke up as I looked at him.
"It's true! I remember seeing her with a girl with Brown hair and they both seemed to love each other so much. Then one day we hear our son, Jason had broken up with her cause she was moving away but in truth that was all a lie and we learned of his bad actions and we truly want to know what we can do to make things right." The woman spoke and I honestly felt bad.
I could see the honesty in her eyes and knew that they weren't bluffing. Amber seemed to have understood the situation and sighed as she let her arms dangle on both sides. She looked to down at her left before looking at them.
"I don't have anything much to say but the only thing you two can do is apologize to Riley's parents about all this. You may know who Riley is since you have met her before." Amber said as I looked at her shocked.
"Of course! Anything to make it up for what our son has done." The father said as Amber nodded.
"Alright. I'll give you the details on where you can find them. I have to talk to them about this first cause I don't want any unwanted problems. I hope everything is clear." Amber said, her indifferent attitude not falling off.
"That's alright." The mother said before turning to look at me.
"I'm really sorry what my son has done to you. From what I heard, you were injured really badly." She said, apologizing as I shook my head.
"It's fine. I can handle a little pain really." I said.
After we were done confirming somethings, they had left and we were now standing alone near the school entrance. I wasn't aware of the time but I knew well that classes haven't started yet but it felt like the whole day has been gone.
"Are you okay?" I asked, looking at Amber as she nodded.
"Yeah I guess... Let's just get to class and forget about this for now. I just want to spend this day well." She said as I nodded.
"Yeah same. Let's head to class." I said as we walked inside the school building.
The rest of the day went by a blur. I barely paid attention to class and mostly just thought about had happened during the past few days. Me and Amber getting Jason expelled, me and her almost getting exposed, me coming out to Amber as unlabeled and basically what happened this morning.
One odd thing was that Emily didn't even bother coming to annoy me or anything. Most of my classes were with Amber and her but she didn't even come to bother any one of us. I didn't dare question it cause I just felt as peace when she didn't. She made me the most uncomfortable out of every person I met here.
It was mostly refreshing not seeing Jason in the school building. Everyone just seemed quiet and even his group of friends seemed out of it. Guess the incidence of last week took a toll on them. The truth hurts that's for sure.
Normally the teachers barely pay attention to me so I was basically able to get away with zoning out most of the time. I barely took notes or did any work. Kind of glad I sit somewhere out of the teachers range.
Last thing I know, school was over and so was my free trial of zoning out for the day. I slowly stood up and grabbed my things and slowly walked out the door after everyone else left the room and made my way to my locker.
After getting everything, I stood outside near the entrance ad waited for Amber. After a few seconds, I saw Amber come out of the school building.
"Sorry if I kept you waiting. The teacher took a few extra minutes to explain something." She said apologizing as I shook my head.
"It's fine. I've just been distracted the whole day really." I said, letting out a sigh.
"Are you okay?" She asked, tilting her head.
"Yeah just... Have a lot of things on my mind really. The past few days have been interesting." I said as she nodded.
"Yeah. Do you need help with notes or anything?" She asked as I quietly nodded.
"Yeah actually. Do you mind explaining them as well?" I asked as she smiled and nodded.
"Sure! My entire schedule was empty today anyways so I am willing to be productive today." She said as I chuckled.
"Thanks. Now let's go." I said, grabbing her hand as I saw the matching ring on her finger.
"I noticed you're wearing your ring today." I said, the smile not leaving my face.
"It's only fair if i do since you were wearing it today." She said, giving me a close eyed smile before walking side by side with me as I led her down the road.
"Are we going to Jocelyn's place by chance?" She asked as I nodded.
"Yeah. I didn't know where else would be perfect for a valentines date so that was the first thing that came to mind." I said, nervously laughing.
"It's alright! I love that place so I wouldn't mind ever going there." She said, making my heart beat faster, making me feel happy.
We eventually reached the diner in a matter of minutes. Coming here always makes me feel at peace. I went over and opened the door as I let Amber in first before letting myself in. What surprised me the most was the fact that the whole place was just empty but the jazz music from jukebox still filled the air.
"I honestly thought people would be here around this time." Amber said, looking around the place.
"Same." I said looking around for Jocelyn but she was nowhere to be found. That was until the backdoor opened to reveal the person we all knew.
"Oh my! It's so good to see you two again!" She said rushing from behind the counter and giving us a hug.
"Oh dear! Are you alright? You look hurt." She said looking at my face as I nodded.
"I'm alright Jocelyn. Just a small misunderstanding at school last week. We took care of it." I explained as she sighed.
"Well at least you're okay. I see you two are sending your first Valentines Day. Reminds me of how me and my partner were at your age. Makes me feel nostalgic really." She said, making both me and Amber smile knowing that one day we'll be in Jocelyn's shoes.
"Well since today is a special day, I have come up with something which I know two of you will like. I'll be back in a bit. You two sit wherever you want." She said going back behind the counter and to the backdoor as we sat down in our usual booth.
We both looked outside the window. The birds seemed to be flying about a lot today and the sky seemed really clear as well. It was a nice view to say the least. I actually liked it a lot.
"It's funny isn't it?" I heard Amber ask as I looked at her, a little confused.
"I honestly can't believe it has nearly been a year since we first met." She said as I smiled remembering that day vividly.
"Yeah. It really has. Time seems to go by a lot faster now I guess." I said, smiling.
"I guess it's the fact that both of us are growing up." She said as I listened to her words.
She wasn't lying that we were growing up. I've already turned 18 and so has Tubbo and Purpled and the only people left to still be grown up are Riley, Addie, Billzo, Crumb, Tommy and Amber. I slowly took her hand in mind and rubbed circles on her palm.
"Yeah... It feels very unreal doesn't it. The minute we leave highschool, it will be like leaving who and what we once were as kids." I said, understanding her now as I sighed.
"But all these things do have it's ends. We've all grown up. We're no longer the two hopelessly in love teenagers we once were but we are a couple now right? That does change something in a good way for the both of us." I finished saying as I saw her look at me before looking down at the hand I held before smiling.
"Yeah you're right. But sometimes I just want to be a kid once again. Those days were one of the best days of my life until I hit teenage years." She said, frowning slightly.
"Hey... I'll be there for you if you ever have any problems. You won't be getting rid of me that easily you know." I said, laughing a little in the end and making her smile too.
"Yeah I guess you're right." She said, smiling to herself.
"Remember that you still have a caring boyfriend like me and your family and the friends you have made along the way. You'll never be alone when I'm still here." I said but the back of my brain was nagging at me for the last part of my sentence.
"Thanks. You're literally giving me a list of reasons to love you even more now." She said laughing a little while making me smile.
"Happy to help." I said and right then Jocelyn comes back from the back and serves us our plates along with our mug of tea and coffee along with a plate full of heart shaped pancakes with pale syrup on top along with strawberries and blueberries on it.
"This is basically a family recipe of mine. I decided to make it our special for the day in the diner. I hope you two lovebirds enjoy it." She said before going back.
"This looks really good. Let's dig in." Amber said pretty excitedly.
"Okay but first." I started as I took a knife and fork and cut a piece and brought the fork to her.
"Say 'ah'." I said as rolled her eyes before taking a bite.
"It's really good." She said after gulping down the food.
We both had our share of the pancakes that we were given. We were pretty hungry by the looks of it since we pretty much ate everything that was given but overall this was a good date to be had.
"God I'm full." I said, laughing a little.
"Same. Though I pretty much enjoyed this date." She said, smiling.
"I'm glad you did." I said, flashing her a smile.
"You know... I wanna meet your other UK friends one day when we go there to visit." I heard her say as I looked at her.
"Really? I mean they are twitch streamers like us and they are pretty cool too. You'll love them a lot. They are fun!" I told her which seemed to peak her interest more.
"That gives me a bigger reason to come with you to the UK for a visit. I can't wait!" She excitedly said, making me smile. I guess I can forget about my worries for a bit for now and just enjoy the rest of the day.
Tubbo's Point of View~
I stood near the college gates, waiting for Riley to come out since she was nearly done with it. Considering it is Valentines day, I want to take her somewhere to show how much I care about her and love her. Her therapy Sessions have been going great so far and I am glad she is healing. Right then, I saw her come out of the gates.
"Toby you're here!" Riley said, hugging me as I hugged back.
"Yeah I missed you the entire day as well." I said, smiling. "How was today?"
"It was alright. Kind of boring to be honest." She said, scratching the side of her hair.
"I know something that will make you feel not bored! Come on!" I said grabbing her hand as we walked back to the car as she sat in the passenger seat beside me and I sat in the driver's seat and drove off.
"Where are we gong exactly?" I heard her ask.
"It's a surprise. You'll have to wait and see." I told her as she smiled.
We drove around the place for a couple of minutes, before we reached our destination. It was a favorite place of mine and I've been here multiple times with family and I knew very well that Riley would love it too since she loves nature so much.
"What is this place?" She asked, awestruck by the scene.
"This is Hotham Park. I know you haven' been here since you don't know much about this town yet but I thought I'd take you here since you love parks and nature a lot. I hope you like my Valentines gift to you." I said, rubbing the back of my neck a little nervously but I was taken aback when she hugged me.
"Thank you so much! Nobody has ever done this for me! It makes me happy." I heard her say as I hugged her back, smiling to myself.
"Your welcome but I have one more thing to give you." I told her as she pulled away, tilting her head at me.
"What is it?" She asked and with that I pulled out a white tulip from behind my hands which I had taken from the grass nearby when she wasn't looking.
"For you." i told her as she had a look of surprise before smiling and taking it from my hand.
"Thank you so much Toby." She said as I smiled even more.
"Your welcome. Now come on. This day isn't over just yet." I told her as I grabbed her hand as we walked side by side the rest of the day.
This was the best Valentines day so far.
