Nurse ~4~
Annabeth
This had to be the weirdest day in the history of weird days.
First, I almost get a dent in my face from some stuck-up girl named Clarisse, then a boy named Percy-
I shivered at the name.
-saves me just as the water fountain helpfully explodes in Clarisse's face. Then when I tell him my name, I can see that he recognized me, though i'm not sure where from. Then he asks me a question and passes out.
I had to drag him all the way back to the school. I know, I probably could have just called 911, but I was kind of freaking out right about then.
Good thing I wasn't the weakest girl in the world, because I actually managed to drag him the two blocks back to school-without being seen I might add.
What? Can't have everyone thinking you're some mass murderer when in reality some guy just passed out for some reason.
"Do I know you?"
Percy's question ran through my mind over and over again.
My heart was saying yes, but my brain was confused.
But how could I possibly know this boy if he just now told me his name?
I shook my head frustrated. I hated not knowing things.
I sat in a plastic white chair in the school nurse's waiting office. The nurse had told me that they'd called his mother and that I should get back to class, but for some reason, I stayed, waiting.
"Miss Chase," A short woman with long curly brown hair pulled up into a bun, and a long white jacket with her name tag on the pocket said, walking out of the room that Percy was in.
"I highly suggest you get back to class." She said somewhat sternly. "As I said, the the boy's mother will be coming by soon."
A thought suddenly occurred in my mind, and words blurted out of my mouth.
"Excuse me ma'am." I said, "But how would Percy's mother be coming, if you never called her?"
The woman blinked, taking in what i'd said, then her eyes narrowed.
"Miss, I assure you, the office called the boy's mother."
I sat up straighter in my chair.
"Yes, but I have been in the office for...almost an hour it would seem." I said, looking at my watch.
The woman-I glanced at her name tag- or, Miss Tulle, stiffened, her hands clutching the clipboard she held.
My eyes narrowed. This was not any normal nurse.
"Why do you want me to leave?" I asked her.
Miss Tulle didn't answer, and instead spun around and walked back into the room Percy was in, slamming the door behind her.
I immediately knew something was going on.
I jumped up out of my seat, and ran towards the door, but when I tried to open it, the handle barely moved.
It had no lock, so the 'Nurse' must have barricaded the door.
I would try to push the door open myself, but my arms were still weak.
I cursed softly, and looked around, trying to find something that I could use to open the door.
I heard a strange hissing in the room and knew that I had to go in there, and fast.
I looked up and saw pipes. By the way they looked, they were newer, which meant they were stronger.
I quickly grabbed a gray calculator that was sitting on the empty office desk. That 'Nurse' had somehow managed to get everyone else out of the office so that it was just Me, Percy and her.
I climbed onto a chair, looked up, and launched my legs up, unfolding my arms and grabbing the white painted pipe.
I climbed my way closer to the door, and then swung my body back and forth, I could feel my arms burning from the effort, but I managed to swing myself forward fast and hard enough to shove the door open with my feet.
I jumped down and ran through the door, just as Miss Tulle turned around.
Though she looked nothing like the nurse, I knew it was her.
Her face was the same besides her glowing yellow eyes and the long fangs that poked out from beneath her upper lip, but her body was no longer human, it was an African Lion.
Her neck faded from skin into golden fur, and giant silver wings had sprouted from her shoulders, slightly folded to keep from hitting the ceiling.
She no longer had arms and legs, but had huge paws with large claws that scraped against the tiled floor as she moved, and her long tail had a few dark golden stripes running down it.
I gasped and the transformed Miss Tulle turned to me, growling, trying to scare me from coming any closer to her prey, which in this case, was Percy.
Who was also still asleep. Sigh.
This wasn't going to be easy.
I moved my leg, trying to step closer to the sick bed, but Miss Tulle growled again, baring her yellow fangs.
I caught a whiff of her lion breath, and tried not to gag.
"Alright, whatever you are...Do you like magic tricks?" I asked out of nowhere, only following my instincts.
Miss Tulle cocked her head to the side in confusion.
I lifted my hands out to her, showing that there was nothing in them, and she stepped a smidgen closer, and sniffed my fingers.
I tried not flinch as she did, and instead smiled mischievously.
"Nothing there right?" I asked.
I heard Percy groan and shift in the sick bed, and Miss Tulle looked over.
She looked back to me, and again cocked her head to the other side.
"I thought not, now, watch closely."
She stepped closer, her eyes completely fixed on my empty hands.
I stared at my hands as well, though out of the corner of my eye I saw Percy's eyes open, see what was happening, and he, thankfully, quietly sat up. I glanced back to Miss Tulle and said, "Abracadabra!"
Suddenly, the calculator that i'd grabbed appeared in my hands. Miss Tulle looked at it closely, probably trying to figure out how I did it, and that's when I took action.
I chucked the calculator at her face, and it landed on top of her head. She shook in annoyance, and I reached over, grabbing Percy's arm and pulling him out of the bed.
We dashed out of the room, and I thought about how great it was to start out your second day at a new school and having to run out of it twice.
Once because of a bully, and the second time because of...that thing back there.
Well, this is starting out to be a great week, wouldn't you say?
