Saved
I was in middle school when I first saw her, I could still remember vividly how we met then I became her heroine. Yes, like superhero. What a childlike right?
Don't get me wrong, I'm just a normal human being. I didn't have powers or I didn't have super strength that time. Let's just say, I was just wise and lucky to help her that day.
And our friendship also started that day.
-
I had a bad morning, I was walking to school when I felt stinging pain on my face and on my stomach.
My father used to beat me and I was used to it as well.
My mother left us and my father told me that it was my fault. I was disgrace in our family, he blamed me since he knew that I was a lesbian. That's what he called me.
I like girls than boys. I used to have crush on girls and I had a lot of boy friends than girls. I used to fight a lot because it was my way to express my anger. I was mad at my father the way he treated me.
He hurt me physically and verbally but never sexually. I thought it was a good thing though. He became abusive and alcoholic when my mother left us.
I guess it hurt him a lot that he changed for worse.
I was spacing out and I didn't notice that I was already in front of the school. I was late, as usual. I could hear the bell was ringing obnoxiously.
I sighed. Probably my teacher would ask me what's wrong because the dark circle on my face was visible. I was thankful that they couldn't see bruises on my body or else they would demand an answer.
I couldn't tell them that it was my father, I didn't want him to be in trouble.
I was about to enter the school gate when I saw a suspicious man, he was holding a girl. The girl was wearing same uniform like mine but I never seen her before. He was kinda suspicious because he looked cautious as he looked around. He was anxious the way his body moved, I could easily tell.
I frowned when I saw the girl's face. She was scared and she was barely walking. Obviously, she was taking by force.
I looked around but unfortunately, there were no people nearby.
But in reflex, I walked to them. I didn't know where did I get this courage. I just did.
"Hey classmate!" I shouted as I sprinted to them. "Where are you going?" I acted innocent.
They stopped and man stiffened.
"Where are you going? The school just started," I said curiously.
"We will go home,"the man stuttered.
"Who are you? Are you his uncle?" I guessed. "This is the first time I see you here." I claimed. But the truth, it was also the first time I met this girl.
The girl stretched her arm to my direction. I gasped when I realized that she was blind. I took her hand and pulled her close to me.
The man let go of her and the girl wrapped her arms around my waist. She was shuddering in fear.
I frowned "Who are you?" I asked the man again.
Then I saw a man in black suit was running to us.
"Ya!" The man in black suit shouted angrily.
Then the man in front of us panicked and he started running away. The man in black suit kept chasing him though.
"Are you okay?" I asked worried to the girl.
The girl slightly pulled away as she nodded. She was crying but gosh, she was beautiful.
My heart began to beat wildly and my breathing became irregular. I could tell, she was breathtaking.
"Thank you," she mumbled.
"Are you new here?" I asked.
"Yes. I'm Tiffany Hwang, a transferee," she introduced.
"Do you know that guy?" I asked again.
Tiffany shook her head "No... he said if I talked he would kill me."
My forehead creased "Geez... that's scary."
Her lips quivered and she hugged me again "Yes. Thank you for helping me."
I scratched my head "It's obvious that he was forcing you so I acted that I knew you."
"You're brave for doing such dangerous act but thank you for saving me, my hero. What's your name?" She asked as she put her chin on my shoulder.
"Umm... Tae...?"
"I like your smell, I feel comfortable," she said squeezing me before loosening her hug.
"Tiffany!" I heard a worried woman called. I quickly pulled away from Tiffany.
"I should go now," I dismissed myself.
"Wait!" Tiffany shrieked. "Will I see you again? I mean... you know... talk to you..." She asked timidly.
I smiled. She was so adorable "Sure. We have the same school."
"My Hero Tae, thank you." She genuinely said.
"You're welcome."
"Tiffany! Are you okay?" The woman asked worried.
I started to walk away from them.
"I'm okay mom," I heard Tiffany answered.
Hero Tae? Sounds good.
I smiled as I walked into the building of our school. It was a rare thing but I was glad that I managed to smile again.
A real one though. I couldn't help it.
Thank you Tiffany.
