Chapter 9
A/N: I originally had this for 10 chapters but, the story could end here. One day when I feel like it I'll make an epilogue but, for now, thank you for reading this everyone!
--------------------------------------------------------------
When you came to, you were in the medical facility with your pants and shoes off and you were wearing a big T-shirt and covered with some soft blankets. You blinked your eyes a bit, squinting at the brightness from behind your privacy curtain, but it was not as bad as you thought it was going to be once your eyes were able to adjust to the lighting. You moved your head to the side and on the side table was some food, snacks, water, and juice along with your phone. You moved a hand from under the covers and placed it on your head thinking back to what happened for you to end up here. You were so angry and disappointed in your boss and a quick wave of fear shot up your spine when he grabbed you by your neck and choked you out. However, your dad had come and rescued you from him. You always knew that your dad was stronger and so much better than he ever would be. You hoped he would be forced to resign or go somewhere far, far away from you. All of this could have been avoided if he wasn't such a bastard and tried to purposely show off Dmitri's face when it was specified in his files that he was not to be seen by anyone, even if you did manage to see him.
"Do you think she's awake?" You recognized the voice as Ghost and you heard a couple pair of feet so you cleared your throat as a sign that you were up. Once the privacy curtain was pulled back you saw the three men standing there and Dmitri had his mask on. You felt terrible for him and gave him a smile but, it seemed he just cringed. Konig is the one who spoke. "Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?" You nodded and went to speak.
"I'm alright." You grimaced at how rough that came out. He only choked you for a few seconds there's no way that much damage could've been dealt! Ghost handed you a mirror.
"The dickhead did a number on your neck. He left a mark." You grabbed the mirror looking at your reflection in shock. You had bruising all around, and he also popped the blood vessels in your right eye. How the fuck he did do that in a few seconds? What kind of grip strength did that old man have??
"He was pumped with steroids beforehand, that's why he was able to grab you and pick you up." You turned to Dmitri who spoke and you smiled the best you could at him and his ears seemed to droop a bit at that. Konig and Ghost shared a look before speaking.
"We got something to do so we'll talk to you later. Rest up, sweetie." You nodded smiling small at Konig and Ghost as they patted Dmitri on the back and left the room, closing the door behind them leaving the two of you alone. You looked at him and were a little surprised he maintained eye contact. Usually, he was shy but, it seemed he finally got used to being in your presence. You went to say something but, he beat you to it.
"I know you saw my face." Any idea of small talk went down the drain when he said that and you sighed. You looked off to the side but, brought your attention back to him when he cleared his throat. "I would like for you to keep looking at me while we talk, please." You smiled a bit at that and nodded.
"It wasn't...on purpose...wanted to wait until...you were ready." You watched as he sighed and grabbed a chair to sit directly in front of you his legs bracketing your closed ones.
"I know it wasn't. I'm not upset at you, I was upset at the situation... The fact that he felt the need to put his hands on you after he'd been harassing you for months before I even came here." He was talking through his mask and you found yourself wanting to hold his hands. He must have sensed your need or you were staring but, he grabbed both of your hands gently in his and used his thumbs to rub your knuckles. You felt yourself getting shy but, squeezing his hands a bit to let him know the affection is welcomed. He brought your hands up to his covered face and nuzzled his face onto them.
"You're not scary." He froze at that and you swallowed saliva finding it a little easier to talk when you whisper. "I know you use... your face to be scary but... you're not scary... to me." It was quiet, this time you rubbing his hands comfortingly. You meant what you said. He wasn't scary to you, you thought his features made him cool and you got to know the real him.
"...You're not afraid of me?" You met his eyes and he was desperate, hopeful, and apprehensive. You can only imagine the amount of rejection and bullying he must've gone through for something he didn't ask for. How many people didn't want to be his friends because they judged him based on his appearance? It's a shame to think about.
"No, I am not." You tried to convey as many emotions as you could through your looks alone. You needed him to truly understand you meant what you said. You weren't scared of him. Never was and never will be. You two looked at each other for a minute longer before he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He removed one of his hands from yours and brought it up to his face. You watched intensely as he paused taking another breath and with swiftness pulled the mask down and you were able to look at him. Really take him in the way you want to. His tongue was thick, long, and reddish as well as forked at the end. His mouth stretched wide showing crowded shark-like teeth and large canines and incisors. Despite how big it was, there were scars near his ears showing he could open his mouth wider, basically unhinging it. That was so cool.
"You're really not afraid." You looked up and saw how open and in awe he was. He genuinely thought you would be scared, flinch, and not want to touch him but, you were showing the opposite. You looked at him as if he was precious, someone to care for. He just fell in love with you. "You're...fascinated." You giggled lightly at him looking back down to his mouth.
"Yes...I think you're pretty cool...Your mouth suits you, you don't have to ever hide from me." You decided to be bold and reached both hands up to cradle his face the best you could. Your fingers were touching his lips and teeth by accident but, you didn't care, and neither did he. He was just watching you, watching your face and he even leaned into your touch.
"I think I found the one." You weren't sure if he meant to say that but, it was confirmed he did when he closed his eyes and leaned his head forward. You copied the action and the two of you rested your foreheads against each other, feeling his hands grip your waist firmly but, gently.
"I think I found the one too."
