To Dashratha, from the old Rishi mini
For this Kosal Raj had no children
To call him Pitashri
Non to enlighen the palace halls
Non to soon rule Awadh puri.

A sage's advice he took.
And further hoped for a boon.
So in the center of his Raj Sabha
He built his havan kund.

Everyone attended
For they wanted to see
Even his wives were there.
Kaushalya
Sumitra
And Kaikeyi.

The havan's fire rises
The atmosphere became hot
Then out came a celestial deity
Holding a golden pot.
"Take this o Dashratha....give it too your wives. This is divine kheer...which will soon change your lives. This is your future. Future of your dynasty." Said he, "Now do not hesitate. Long live the Suryavamshi."

First one mouthful for Kaushalya,
Sumitra had mouthfuls of two
Kaikeyi get afterwards!
Then Dashrath's dream came true.

Nine months later, when Dashratha hear young cries.
He would give jewelry to his servants.
Whatever treasure lies.
The pearls around his neck
The rubies on his rings
He don't care about the riches.
His sons will be Ayodhya's kings!

Kaushalya birthed Ram
Sumitra, Lakshman, Shatrughan.
Then Kaikeyi, Bharat. She was blessed with a son.
But before these four princes
There was a princess
But at a tender age
Dashrath dressed her in red wedding dress.

Sent her off for adoption
Then someone married her.
Uncommonly she is known.
Her given name is Shanta.

Ram's name means pleasing,
He's here to reestablish dharma
Because he's non other than Hari.
His name will free us from bad Karma.

Greatest is the divine touching the dirt!
