CHAPTER FIFTY: POWER UP

Luther, Allison and Viktor was standing on the the second floor talking about the disappearing of people.

Viktor was standing by a pool ball table while Luther was sitting on another pool ball table.

"So, all the people on the street just disappeared?" Allison asked "Well, no, not all of them, just...half of them" Luther said "Five did say animals were disappearing" Viktor said "Okay, well, now is definitely people" Luther said "Marcus was supposed to meet up with us earlier, but he never showed" Viktor said "What, you think this grandfather thing took Marcus?" Luther asked "It can't just be coincidence, right?" Viktor asked "Great" Allison said with a sigh "Now those Sparrow psychopaths think we took their Number one. We're never getting the briefcase back" she said "Okay, what if..." Viktor said before he took some steps forward "What if we just told the truth? Marcus is gone, and maybe we're partially responsible" he said "That'll go well. They'll throw us a party" Allison said sarcastically "I bet they throw fantastic parties" Luther said.

"Listen. Marcus was ready to give us back the briefcase. If the rest of his family are even half as open-minded, you know, maybe we can come to some kind of an agreement, get it back" Viktor said "Yeah, yeah. Okay" Luther said before he jumped down from the pool ball table "Well, if you guys are heading over there, I should probably come along. You know, uh, for protection" he said.

Viktor didn't say anything as he turned to look at Allison "Yeah" she said and took the last sip from her glass before she put it on the table "Nice try, Stockholm" she said before she walked towards him "Your ass is staying here" she said and patted him on the shoulder as she walked passed him.

"Wha--?" Luther asked confused "She's right" Viktor said "What? Who put you two in charge?" Luther asked "Look, Allison...She needs something to take her mind off Clarie. So, we'll handle this" Viktor said "Yeah. Copy. Hey, um...Thanks for looking out for her" Luther said and Viktor nodded before walking away.

The sound of raven cawing was heard as Fei was in her room while ravens was around her.

Fei was cutting some meat while Ben was sitting on a chair next to her, his hands clapped together and his left leg crossed over his right as he was looking down on the floor while thinking.

"We're getting tons of mission person complaints in a three-block radius. I was thinking hysteria" Fei said "What are they up to?" Ben asked "Who?" Fei asked and Ben looked at her "The Umbrella Academy. Use your head, Number Two" he said before getting up from his chair "First Marcus, now they're grabbing civilians off the streets?" he said "'Number Two'? I supposed that mean you're Number One now?" Fei asked "Marcus is missing. I'm taking the reins" he said as he turned to her and she let out a chuckled "What? You think it should be you?" he asked and she turned to him "You had your chance once. Didn't turn out too well, now did it?" she asked and he turned his head away from her as he let out a sharply exhale.

He then saw that one of Fei's raven was sitting on a bench close to him and Ben grabbed the raven around its' throat tight causing it to make a shrieks noise and Fei felt the pain.

"Say that again" he said aggressive as he squeezed the raven's throat causing Fei to start wincing as she could feel the raven's pain.

Fei then looked up and the sound of a telekinetic whoosh was heard and all the ravens in the room started cawing as they started flying around above Ben.

Fei lifted her hand as her and Ben stared at each other.

"Excuse me" someone said and the two turned their heads to see Grace enter the room "Children, do you mind if I clean up?" she asked "Do it quickly" Ben said before he let go of the raven and the ravens let out a cawing noise before they landed back on their spots.

"You know I respect Marcus and Y/n" Ben said to Fei "Of course" Fei said "I'd do anything to protect him" Ben said "Sure" Fei said "But we've been Number Two and Three for far too long, Fei. With Marcus gone, it's moving day" Ben said and Fei let out an exhale.

"Changes can be good" she said "Think about it. You and me, center stage. Taking things to the next level" he said "So how do we handle the Umbrella situation?" Fei asked "If they bring Marcus back, so be it" Ben said before he stepped closer to Fei "If they don't, then we have some decisions to make" he said.

"Y/n told us that one of them said that they didn't had Marcus" Fei said "Well, maybe the person she ask didn't know or lied" Ben said "Y/n told us to wait" Fei said "Well, we have waited long enough, it's time to do something. We need to get Marcus back before it is too late" Ben said. 

"Marcus isn't coming back. God took him" Grace said and the two turned their heads to look at her.

"God?" Fei asked "Yes, God is in the basement, and he called Marcus home" Grace said before she walked out of the room.

"Does she need a checkup?" Fei asked Ben "Focus, Fei. We play this right. Sparrow Academy is all ours" he said before he left the room and Fei let out a sigh.

A raven was cawing as Kayla, Ben and Fei walked out on the Academy's courtyard to meet with Allison and Viktor.

"You're one short" Ben said "Where's the rest of your pathetic family?" Fei asked "Aww. Is that the best you can do?" Allisok asked "Last warning" Fei warned "Yeah, you don't get to warn me about shit, Flock of She-Gulls" Allison said and Ben let out a laugh causing Fei to look at him and he stopped laughing before he cleared his throat.

"Whatever. Where the fuck is Marcus?" Ben asked "Marcus is, uh...Marcus, uh...Marcus is--" "Safe" Allison said, cutting Viktor off and Viktor looked at her as Allison looked at them.

"For now. But that'll change real quick if you don't do exactly as we say" Allison said "See? I told you they have him" Fei said as she looked at Ben.

"I warned Marcus, but no. He said we had to hear what you had to say" Ben said "My mom told you that you were different but she was wrong" Kayla said causing Viktor to look at her "Is that the thanks I get for not breaking your legs when I saw you at that hotel, or for not slashing your throat in your sleep" she said "Like you could try" Allison mumbled under her breath.

"Look, he wasn't wrong, okay? We want to make things right with you--" "By kidnapping our brother?" Ben asked as he cut Viktor off.

"No, that's--" Viktor said but Allison cut him off "Yes" she said and Viktor looked at her and she sent him a signal, like he should play along.

Viktor took a deep breath before he turned to look at the three "Look, there is a lot more going on here. The world is in trouble, and we need to work together. My brother could explain it all a lot better than me, but...it's a time-traveling problem. We cause a paradox, and that paradox is swallowing things. Lots of cows, and a dog, a few lobester, but also people. Look, I know it sounds like--" but Allison cut him off again.

"Just give us the briefcase, and we'll give you Marcus" she said "What briefcase?" Fei asked "The one we left in your house" Allison said and Fei was about to say something but Ben beat her to it "Deal. The briefcase for our brother" he said "Great. Hotel Obsidian, four o'clock sharp" Allison said before she put on her sunglasses "Or we'll send him back in pieces" she said and Kayla clenched her fist causing Allison to look at her.

"Are you gonna lose your temper, little girl?" she asked, trying to provoke her "I'm not a little girl" Kayla said with a smile "And trust me, if I lose my temper, you will lose your life and if you guys have hurt Marcus, I will lose my temper and I will kill you as slowly and painful I can think of and it will end with you guys begging me to end your misery and I will, once I'm bored which will take time" she said.

Faintly energy pulsing was heard when Ben and Fei walked down the basement.

"If they left a briefcase behind, Grace will know where it is" Fei said as the two walk down the stairs that lead to the basement.

"You don't think it's weird that they 'Forgot' something here? What if it's trap? What if we open it and it explodes?" Fei asked "Please. They aren't that smart" Ben said.

But then the sound of pulsing intensifies was heard "Grace? What the hell's going on down here?" Ben called out as the two walked around a corner and they both froze when they saw a giant glowing orange ball of light in the middle of the basement with Grace sitting in front of it "Sweet Jesus" Fei said.

Ben walked took some steps closer "Jesus is one possible interpretation of this deity" Grace said as the two walked closer before stopping on each side of her "Or perhaps it's the reincarnation of Buddha or Brahma the Creator" she said "Yeah, yeah, whatever" Ben said before he reach his hand out to touch the ball of light.

"Be careful, Number Two" Grace said causing Ben to look at her as he pull his hand back "You don't want to disturb his slumber" she said and Ben furrowed his brows "Who knows who the waking good will choose next" Grace said and Fei looked at her "Grace, is this what took Marcus?" she asked and Grace stood up "He went right up and touched it. Brazen man. The light of the Lord is too much for mere mortals" she said "Grace, when did God get here?" Fei asked "Two days ago, with our new visitors" Grace answered causing Ben and Fei to glanced at each other as the sound of energy thrumming loudly was heard.

You, Five and Lila was in a small janitor's closet with wires as you were trying to hot-wire one of the briefcases.

Five opened a circuit box and attached plugs to the cables "Alright, that is set" he said before he turned around as the sound of electricity crackles was heard.

Both you and Five wasn't sure if this would work, but it was better than nothing.

"Be honest Y/n, does this suit look good on me?" Five asked "No you look ugly in them, you should burn them" you said, even so you lied. He look handsome as hell.

"Jokes on you, suits I wear brings out my eyes" he said "Yeah, right?" you scoff.

"Nice suit" Lila said as she looked at Five's new tailored black suit.

"Thanks. The tailor in the lobby is a master craftsman" Five said "Still, I will miss those pasty knees" Lila said "Yeah, well, we could all stand to be showing a little skin these days" he said and she let out a small smile before she lifted up another jump leads "For you" she said "Yeah" Five said before he grabbed them and Lila lifted up a jump-starter.

"Are you guys really going to The Commission?" you asked "Yeah, it the only way. Why do you think we are doing it?" Five asked "I don't want to go" you said "It's fine, you don't need to go with us to The Commission. Just stay at the hotel. We might need you for a backup plan" Five said "A backup plan?" you raise a brow and he nodded "Just stay and keep Kayla in sight, take care of her" Five said "I have done that for 18 years alone, so no need for your advice" you said and he scoff.

"Ready to hot-wire this briefcase?" she asked and he nodded as he got ready to use his powers "Let's do this" he said with an exhale before he looked at you "Please, take a step back" he said "Don't worry, this wouldn't kill him. Nothing can kill the little cockroach. I've tried already" Lila said "Well, I'm going to watch you get hurt so that might bring a little joy" you smiled.

Lila turned on the jump-starter causing electronics sparks to set off "Ah shit" he said as his hands glow blue and he wailed in pain while Lila laughed.

"Shit! Lila!" he shouted as he stumbled backwards, almost falling to his knees.

Five let out a groan before he got to his feet as he could feel the electronics going through his body while Lila continue laughing.

Then Five powered down before he let go of the jump leads when he saw that the briefcase was on fire.

"Shit" he said before he grabbed some rags and began hitting them on the briefcase to try and turn off the fire while Lila and you were still laughing as Lila opened the door before walking out of the room.

"Yeah, I was 99% sure that wouldn't work" Lila said with a smile as she jumped up to sit on a ice machine "Well, I'm glad my pain amuses you" he said before he looked back the briefcase that was no longer on fire.

"You have no idea. It's like my therapy" she said "Me too. Beside you are my shitty ex-husband, and I earned this" you smiled as Five walked out of the room before he closed the door.

"But I'm also Kayla's dad" Five said "No good reason" you shook your head "You're the worse" Five rolled his eyes. 

"Well, now we are down to one half-dead briefcase and my jumps are only accurate up to a couple minutes. So, essentially, we're screwed" he said.

"Maybe. Maybe not" Lila said before she let out a smile while you also let out a smile "Oh, I hate that smile" Five said as he looked at you and Lila.

"Listen, on your own, your little jumps are rather pathetic" Lila said and he let out a scoff "But if we powered up together, you blinking, me mimicking that blink, I think we could create some kind of feedback loop and get enough juice to jump-start the case" Lila said "Both of us together" he said "That could work. She is right. The briefcase work as a barrier between times and if you jump start it with both your powers, it would probably hurt like hell. But if you have a barrier, then you could jump more effectively and without any issues of landing in the correct time. And we have to made it work. We don't know when this thing is going to take people" you said "Since when are you two getting along?" Five asked "Have you forgotten we are sisters" you said "Yeah and we still have tons in comment" Lila said "Like what?" Five asked "Our hated to you" you both smiled.

"Yeah, and you have both screw a Hargreeves and fell in love with one while also trying to kill them" Five cut in "True" you and Lila nodded.

"For this to work, we'd have to trust each other" Lila said and Five let out another scoff "Lila, you just spent the better part of the last ten days trying to end my life" he said "Again you killed her birth parents" you snapped "Fair enough. Lila, I get it you are still upset" Five said as Lila jumped down from the ice machine and took a few steps passed him before turning to him.

"That's not really something you just get over, Five. It took me some time to get over my own sister murdering the woman who raised me while your entire family Five, stood by" Lila snapped before she looked at you "The only reason I forgive her so quickly was because she is my sister" she said.

"The Handler didn't give a shit about us Lila, when will you accept that?" you asked "The Handler was going to kill you, Lila. In fact, she did kill you. Then I rolled back in time, saving all of our asses" he said as he put his hands together" Five said "And that's the only reason why I also forgave you so quickly" Lila said as she glanced at you.

"Oh, and by the way if you're leading Diego on as payback for what happened in Texas, you're pissing up the wrong ladder there cause that idiot may actually love you. The Handler never did" he said before he glanced at you "I don't want to hear it from you" he hissed "Fine" you nodded before he turned around and began to walk away.

"Than you will hear it from me. What do you know? You somehow pulled my sister, Y/n fucking Hudson and botched it, causing your subsequent divorce. On top of that the two of you spend decades shagging each. The way you two are acting towards each other leave me in doubt if you are divorced or married. You two wouldn't admit that you guys still love each other. You are both too stubborn. So what do you two know about love. You Five, are still in love with someone who doesn't understand basic emotions" Lila snapped "Like you are any better" you said while Five stop in his track before he turned to her before he turned to face her.

"Do not talk about Y/n like that" he said angry as he walked up to her while he kept his eyes to her. "Beside I know a lot more about love than you do" he said "I doubt that" Lila said as the three glanced at each other. Trust was no longer an option if it ever was.

You rolled her eyes before you both gave them a slap behind their heads with your hands.

"Ouch" they both said "You know what, I'm leaving" you said "Do that and I will kill you" Five said and you turned around "Like you could" you hissed before leaving.

"Great we lost Y/n" Lila said before looking back at Five "Okay, perhaps we can't get to trust, but there is a certain honesty in white-hot hated" he said and Lila rolled her eyes before she walked passed him and over to the door "Then come over here, you god-awful little shit" she said and opened the door before she opened her palm for him to take her hand "And hold my hand" she said and he let out a smile before he grabbed her hand before let her lead him back into the room again and Five closed the door behind him as they walked back into the room.

You return back to the Academy before going up to the stairs to Kayla's guest room.

You knock before opened to see Kayla getting ready "What are you doing?" you asked "It seems like that little guy lied to you. The umbrella just told us that they have Marcus, and if we return some briefcase to them, they will hand over Marcus" Kayla said "Listen Honey, I don't think they have Marcus" you said "Then who does" she turned to look at you.

"Honey listen---" "NO" she cut you off, "You are hiding something mom, are you friends with those Umbrella?" she asked "I wouldn't call us friends" you said "Then why was the little jump guy in your hotel room" she took a step closer to you.

"Okay, the jump guy name is Five and him and I go way back. Long before you were even born" you said "How do you know him?" she asked "Him and I use to be married" her eyes widened.

"Why did you never tell me?" she asked "Never had the chance, and I was going to tell you" you said "So that was the reason you wanted to talk to them?" she asked and you nodded "And the reason he was in your room?" she asked and you nodded again.   

"But we got a divorced years ago and now we hate each other more than anything" you said "Well, it didn't look like it" she said before taking her shoes on.

"Where are you going?" you asked "We don't have the briefcase, so we are just gonna have to do plan B, we are going to beat them again. Force them in handing Marcus over to us" you said "Are you going to kill them?" you asked "No" she shook her head "But I'm gonna beat the shit out of that little Jumpy Guy" Kayla said "You can't" you said "Why don't you hate him? They kidnap Marcus. Give me one good reason why we shouldn't take them out?" she asked and you let out a sigh.

"Just don't hurt the little jumpy guy" you said "I'm not going to kill them, just kick their asses and get Marcus back" Kayla said and you nodded. 

"You are more than welcome in coming with us, in case of backup" she said "No, sweetheart, you just go, I will be here and celebrate with you when you return with Marcus" you said "So you are really going to let me go by myself?" she asked "Of course I realized that you are not a little girl anymore, so you go. But be careful okay, don't underestimate any of them" you said and she nodded before kissing your cheek "I love you mom" she said "I love you too" you said and Kayla turned around before leaving.

Five and Lila was ready to work together this time to try and use the briefcase.

"Okay, relax" she said as the sound of a device whirs was heard "I can't. Your breath is terrible" he said "Garlic is winners. Enough foreplay!" she said before they both grabbed the briefcase.

"This is so stupid" he said "Power up, shithead" she said before they both started straning as they both grits their teeth while they got ready to use their powers.

The sound of energy pulsing was heard as their hands started to glow blue and electronics sparks was set off "That's it" she said as the blue light got bigger and bigger "Let me in!" she cried out "I can't! It's too much" he cried out "Don't bitch out on me now!" she shouted and he let out a yelps.

"I hate you so much!" he said "Then get this right, or it's you and me in the Stone Age forever and you will never see Y/n again!" she said before they both started straining as the blue light got bigger and bigger.

"Now! Do it now!" she shouted and they both started screaming before the sound of a zapping was heard and then the two disappeared in the blue light.

Wind was howling as Five and Lila appeared in another place, falling on to a pile of snow.

There was a heavy a blizzard around them which had covered the whole area in snow.

"Oh, brilliant idea, Lila. Welcome to the Ice Age" Five said as they saw how the area was covered in thick snow.

Lila then turned around and she smiled "Shut up and just look" she said and he turned around to see The Commission's headquarters.

"The Commission" he answered and she laughed before she began running towards the building.

"Shit. I wish you were here with me, Y/n" he said before he followed after Lila.

Kayla and The Sparrows arrived at hotel "It's here" Kayla said as they looked at the hotel "Let's do this" she said "Kayla are you sure you want to do this?" Sloane asked and Kayla looked down for a moment before she looked back at Sloane "Let's just get this over with" she said and Ben nodded before those two walked side by side as they entered the hotel.

The Umbrellas got up as they saw Kayla and the Sparrows walking into the hotel wearing their superhero jumpsuits except for Kayla and Chris.

Diego pulled out his knife as he flipped with it while the Umbrellas and Sparrows approach each other.

Kayla was standing next Ben and Chris as the people in the hotel started taking pictures of The Sparrows.

"Well, thanks for coming" Viktor said "Oh, yeah, super glad to be here" Jayme said sarcastic.

"Where are the rest of you?" Ben asked "Are you taking attendance? They'll be here" Diego said 

"Where's the briefcase?" Allison asked "Where's our brother?" Ben asked and Allison smiled "Maybe we should try this again before I lose my temper" she said and Viktor snapped his head towards her "Allison--" he said "I got this" Allison told him.

"Run" Sloane whispered to Luther "'Bun'?" Luther asked and she shook her head.

"Hand over the briefcase or no deal" Allison said "Yeah, tiny problem" Ben said and Allison furrowed her brows "Deal's off" Ben said "Run" Sloane whispered again "Oh'Run'" Luther said with big smile.

"Just give us Marcus and we will leave" Kayla said.

"Molotov this, bitches!" Stanley suddenly shouted as he came running while holding an igniting Molotov cocktail in his hand.

Diego turned to Stan before he pointed his knife at him "Stanley. Not now" he shouted and Stan dropped the Molotov cocktail but as he did that, the fire hit a banner that was hanging on a pillar and it cut on fire.

"Oh shit" Stan said, catching everyone attention and the hotel's guest started clamoring and chattering before they started running away while the smoke alarm started blaring.

"Power up" Ben ordered before he held his left hand up.

Fei summoned her crows out from her back while Jayme moved her lips and jaw, preparing the venom.

"Go" Diego said as he grabbed Stan before he dragged him over to the lobby's desk while Kayla took a few steps forward.

"Now, Chris" Ben said and the sound of piercing feedback whining came out of Chris.

Diego threw Stan behind the counter to protect him, before Chris shot out with his red rays of electricity, hitting the siblings making the Umbrellas hear a high-pitched noises in their mind causing them to wailing in pain as they fell to their knees while holding their hands to their heads in pain causing Kayla to stop in her track as she widened her eyes.

"What the hell?" Luther said and Allison looked up "I heard...I heard a rumor..." she said, her voice echoing as she was trying to use her powers on Ben but she couldn't "That you're about to die" Ben said.

Luther let out a groaned and Sloane looked at him before looking at her siblings with a terrified look.

Kayla and Sloane looked at each other and Sloane could see that Kayla didn't knew about this part of the plan.

Kayla then snapped her head at Ben "Ben stop this. This is enough" she said "Are you going soft?" he asked "No, but is not a fair fight and my mom would agree" she said but Ben ignored her.

"Kill 'em" he ordered and Jayme and Alphonso walked closer to Victor who let out a groan.

But then suddenly there was an echoing yell which followed a yellow blast of energy that was shout out of an older man.

The energy force wave hit Fei's crows, killing them.

Luther ran over to Sloane before he brought her down with him to protect her from the energy blast hit.

The energy blast hit Jayme and Alphonso who was closest to Viktor while Fei felled to her  knees and Chris was blown back against the wall before falling to the floor while Kayla and Ben fell to the floor.

However, since Jayme and Alphonso was closest to Viktor, they were hit by the energy blast wave causing them to scream in pain as half their face burned up before melting.

The old man powered down and Kayla looked up "Jayme! Alphonso!" Fei cried out and Kayla looked over to see Jayme and Alphonso laying dead on the floor "No" she said as tears was showing in her eyes while Ben stared at his two dead siblings in horror.

"Pull back!" he shouted as him and Kayla got up. She could feel that she was a little dizzy from the blast.

"Sloane. Sloane, are you okay?" Luther asked as he looked at a unconscious Sloane who was laying underneath him

"Wait, we can't leave Sloane!" Kayla shouted as Ben was dragging her out of the hotel with Fei and Chris behind them "We will be back for her later. We can't stay here, we will die" Ben said "No, we can't just leave her" Kayla said as she tried to get free from Ben's grip "Let go of me!" Kayla shouted as he pulled her with him.

Viktor, Diego and Allison got up in shock of what had just happened.

Viktor looked at the older man as he slowly got up "Oh my God" Viktor said as he looked at the old man in shock "Harlan? Is that you?" he asked.

You were sitting in the room you stayed at the Academy when suddenly the door busted opened to reveal a crush Kayla.

"Sweetheart what happen?" you got up "Alphonso and Jayme are dead" she fell on her knees while crying.

"What?" you asked "They are dead" she cried and you rushed over to your daughter's side who was crying "How?" you asked "The Umbrellas had some secret weapon, some old guy. And he killed them" she cried and tears fell from your eyes.

You cared for Sparrows, you care a lot about them, almost like they were your own kids.

"Was Five there?" you cried "No" she shook her head "I couldn't see him, but they still killed Alphonso and Jayme" she cried before looking at you.

"Why do you care if Five was there?" she asked "Listen Honey, there is something I need to tell you" you said.
