CHAPTER FOUR: A PROMISE

25 years ago (for you) 22 years(For Five).

Both you and Five was sitting next to each other in the library where you were living. It has being a year since you took off your goggles since the air was safe to breath now.

You were 20 and he was 21. You have being here for seven years now.  

Five had facial hair while your face look more like an adult now.  

"So what is your plan when you are home again?" Five suddenly asked you breaking the silence there was. 

"Well, I actually don't know" you looked down at your fingers.

"How about when we get out of here, you can live at the Academy?" you snapped your head to look at him.

"Why, I don't have any superpowers, I'm just ordinary" you said "Not to me. Beside there is more than enough rooms" he looked at you.

"What do you say about that?" he asked "What if your family don't like me?" you asked "They are gonna love you" he said "But I don't know your family, I only know them from what you told me and from what I have read in Vanya's book. But they don't know me, I'm just a stranger to them" you said "You're not a stranger to me. They will love you and if they don't, I will make them" he said and you let out a chuckled.

"So what do you say?" he asked and you looked at him before nodding causing him to smile.

You had never needed anyone before, you had been doing everything yourself for years. In just those years you have known him. Not only had he made you need him, but your souls combined. The part that destroyed you was the fact you did your best but still wasn't good enough but when you were with him, you felt wanted and you felt like you were good enough.

"Would we still be friends when we get out of here?" you asked "Of course, why would you ask this?" he asked "'Cause everything can happen" you said and he grabbed your hand "Y/n/n, I promise you that no matter what happens, we will always be friends, best friends. I would never leave you or let you down, you have my word" you stared into each other's eyes.

"I just don't want to be alone again, Five" you said "You would never be alone again" he moved closer to her "Everyone always leave me or let me down in the end" you said before you let out a sob.

"Y/n" he grabbed your hand again causing you to look at him.

"I'm not gonna leave you or let you down, ever. No matter how angry I am at you, no matter how angry you are at me, no matter how much we hate each other, I will never leave you, you will never feel alone again, I promise. I will always be here with you, no matter what, I promise" he said as he lifted up his hand and wipe away a small tear that have fallen from your eyes with his thumb.

"I promise you that you will never feel or being alone. I will always be right by your side. I will always support you and have your back through every situation. You will never have to go through anything alone, ever again. I promise" he said.

Five's face light up as he stared into your beautiful gentle Y/e/c eyes.

You were his sun, you are the only one who could turn his dark days into bright again and he did the same to you.

You were his hope and happiness. He needs you, you were keeping his sanity and you were giving him strength. Just like he did to you.

He wanted to be with you and you wanted to be with him. You both want to hold each other's hands to show that you are never leaving each other, 'cause you won't.

He didn't see an cold tough person, he saw a broken person that just need to feel love.

You were the person who made him and his heart smile. You was the air that he breath.

You have unfroze his clod heart and you made him feel less broken. You were the first to actually see through him and how he really felt. Just like he did for you.

He didn't see a cold hearted emotionless person, he saw a soft and kind person that just wanted to feel loved and wanted.

You were the only person he ever opened up to. He was so soft deep down. He cared so much and you were the only one who ever saw that side of him, even so he couldn't see it in himself. Just like he did for you.

You both made each other feel less cold and alone.

It was right there that Five realized that he was in love with Y/n Hudson.

Your face light up as you stared into Five's beautiful green warm eyes.

Everytime he looked at you with those eyes, you felt the world spinning and you felt a warm feeling through your body.

You had to admit that you actually started liking his stupid face.

You didn't see a stubborn irresponsible person, you saw a broken but handsome, kind and soft guy that need to feel loved and that he is enough.

You couldn't explain it, but Five had something, something no one else had.

He made you feel less alone. He have brought hope and light back to you.

You actually never thought an apocalypse have to happen to you to meet the one. For you to find someone who made you feel this wonderful feeling.

Of course both you and Five wish you have met before, but you both think that the only good thing about the apocalypse is that it brought the two of you together.

Five took a deep breath, he wanted to tell you that he have falling in love with you.

You leapt from crumbling bridges
Watching cityscapes turn to dust

"Can I ask you something?" he asked and you nodded "I know that we have being here for seven years, and we didn't get off to a good start, but I have actually really enjoy those times here, and I..." he took a deep breath "I've been hiding this feeling for so long that you might reject it...But you've been that only person that made me conceive this feelings. And these feelings are those things are what I can't explain for you. I didn't need to wait for anything to be happy. Happiness is free. Whenever you're with me, I always feel happiness. You're the source of my happiness. Deep inside I've been thanking you for your concern about my state and I deeply appreciate that, I hope this time is not too late to say that..."  he looked at you as you raise a brow.

"I'm sorry Y/n. Shit...I....damn...I don't know how to do this. I have ever tried this before" scratch the back of his neck nervously.

You were stunned by the question and shocked but decided to just say it.

"Y/n, I need to tell you something" he said and you looked at him "I...am falling in love with you" he sighed and looked away.

Kisses on the foreheads of the lovers
Wrapped in your arms

"You...falling...in...what" you stutter nervously and he smirked. He grabbed your chin and made your eyes look at him.

You've been hiding them in hollowed out pianos

"Do I make you nervous, Hudson?" he asked and you scoffed "As if Hargreeves" you smiled.

"You know that just like you, I'm not very good in showing and telling my emotions, but I like your stupid face" you said and his whole face light up "Do you?" he asked and you nodded before you both smiled to each other.

He looked at your lips before looking back at your eyes "Screw this" he said before pressing his lips against yours.

As your lips touch it felt like the world around was blurry out and in slow motion.

Your eyes widened but before you could kiss him back, he pulled away "Shit Y/n" he said worried "Damn it, I should've have asked you first, I shouldn't have attack you like that, I'm so sorry---" he looked away but then you grab his chin, turned his head so he looked at you.

"Shut up" you said before you pressed your lips against his.

He let out a smile before he kissed you back without hesitation and without asking any questions.

As your lips touch again it felt like the world around was blurry out and was in slow motion.

The kiss felt warm, safe and wonderful. Like it was right.

The two of you smiled at the kiss. You both felt like the missing piece of puzzle was finally placed. You felt peace with each other. It was like two magnets finally connection, it was like a invisible red thread connected the two of you. Tied you together.

The kiss was rough and filled with love that mixed with lust perfectly. It was the type of kiss that made time stand still.

Your lips moved together in fiery passion like you were supposed to be together.

You both now finally understand what people can mean to each other and what people mean when they say love is the best feelings.

The two of you pulled away to catch their breath "Woah" he said and you let out a giggled.

Sharing all your secrets with each other
Since you were kids

"That's was um....Amazing" he said and you chuckled "How is that for your first time?" you asked "Excuse me?" he asked "Well, I can assume that it was your first kiss" you said "How can you assume that?" he asked "Have you met you?" you asked "Good point. But also I can assume that it was your first kiss too" he said and you nodded "It was" you said.

"Y/n. I really like you. So much that I have falling in love with you" he said "I really like you too. Also so much that I'm in love with you. But I don't know much in being in a relationship" she said "Either do I" he said before he looked at you "Maybe we can help each other find out what it means to be in love with someone" he said and you looked at him "We can find it out together" he said and she smiled "I'm willing to try if you are" he said.

"Just so you know that too much is wrong with me and you can't do anything about that. You can't change it, you can't fix me" you shook your head lightly.

"I don't want to fix you, I want to be with you, 'cause I see the person you really are and I don't care about who you were or who you are now and I don't care about what you have done, I fell in love with you because I saw who you really are. I fell in love with you so fast because you make me feel so safe in a way that I have never felt around anyone" he said and you let out a sigh.

"You may think you are too damaged and too broken to ever allow yourself to be happy, but you can choose differently Y/n, you can choose to love me, as much as I love you, that should not be up to anyone else" your eyes widened.

"It feel like we know each other our whole life. I have never connected with anyone the way I have with you, when I look into your eyes that's when I feel it. That sudden sense of hope, you make things okay, no one else can do that for me, you're special" he said "I feel the same way but being with me is not going to be easy" you said "I know that being with you is not going to be easy, it's going to be really hard, but I don't care 'cause we're going have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want to be with you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day" he grabbed your hand.

"I want you to know I see you. I can see the pain written all over your face because I know the look of someone trying so hard to pretend like they're alright when they're crumbling on the inside. You're not alone, you have me in your life and I'm going to be there for you, no matter what. I'm not going to let you down. Just show me where it hurt the most so I know where to love you the hardest, because all I want to do is to make sure you feel love, my love that you deserve" he said and you looked at him.

"I really want to be in a relationship with you" he said "Five, I don't know much in being in a relationship" you said "Either do I" he said before he looked at you.

"Maybe we can help each other find out what it means to be in love with someone" you looked at him "So let's find it out together" he said and you smiled "I'm willing to try if you are" he said.

You wanted to a love like that, you really did. You were just scared. You were scared of the heartbreak and the pain, being hurt.

"So what do you say? It's okay if you don't want to be with me, and you can dump my ass as soon as we are out of here, but no matter what you decides I'm not going to leave you" he said.

You smiled before nodding "I still have a lot to learn about love, but I want to learn it with you, I still have many defects to correct,  but I want to correct it for both of us, I still haven't reached my best version, but I want you to be the one who enjoys it. There are still many things to experience and I want to live them with you" you said.

"So....?" he asked "I'm willing to give it a chance" you said and he smiled before he pulled you into a long warm hug "Don't break my heart" you said "No, never. I promise" he said and you smiled as you hugged tighter.

The two of you then pulled away to look at each other "Who would have thought that it took an apocalypse for us to meet" he said and you smiled before you rested your foreheads against each other.

Sleeping soundly with the locket that she gave you
Clutched in your fist

"I promise you, Y/n/n, I will not let anything happen to you and I promise to get us out of here, save my family and stop the apocalypse" he said and you smiled.

"I know, 'cause I believe in you and I will always believe in you" you said and he smiled.

"We must promise ourself that no matter how lost we feel, we must always hold on to hope" you said "We will. I hope you stay around for a long long time, I think I want you in my life forever" he said "I will stay forever by your side, I promise" you said.

"I promise you Darling, that even when we get out of here, I would still be by your side" he said and you smiled "And I promise you the same" you said.

"I'm following you now, I'm just gonna follow you for the rest of my life" he said "And I'm going to follow you too, always and forever" you smiled to each other.

Five's face light up as he stared into your beautiful gentle Y/e/c eyes.

"So what it bad?" he asked as he scratched the back of his head embarrassed. 

"It was not bad, it was actually amazing" you said and he looked at her "You think?" he asked and you nodded.

"You kiss better than I think you would" he chuckled.

"Do you want to kiss again?" he asked "Why not" you chuckled before nodding.

He smiled before you both leaned your faces closer, connection your lips again.

You were his sun, you were the only one who could turn his dark days into bright again and he did the same to you.

You were each other's person who made each other smile and made your hearts smile. You were both the the air that you breath.

You have both unfroze your cold heart.

Both you and Five was happy, that you were not alone, that you had each other by your side and no matter what the world would throw at the two of you, you will find a way to overcome it as long as you got through the things together.

You were happy that you had found someone who cared for you.

The same went for Five, he was happy that he have found someone who cared for him and sees him. All of him. Someone who love every pieces of him, even those parts he struggle to love himself.
