CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR: ONE COULD FALL IN LOVE

"And you girl?" Reginald looked at you "She's ordinary. She's only here because of Five. There's nothing special about her" Luther said "I can see there is" Reginald said while you and Five glanced at him "She's ordinary" Luther said which 'cause Five and you to glanced at him.

"Don't listen to him, he is a idiot" Five said as he looked at Reginald "The gorilla blood and DNA in his body had reach his brain" he said, sending Luther another death glance before he looked back at Reginald "I'm just here for backup" you said.

"Do you claim to be my spawn?" he asked "Uhhh. no, definitely not one of your children" you said "Then why are you here?" Reginald asked "Good question" you said "She is acquaintance. Here for backup" Five said.

"Then what can you do?" Reginald asked as he was looking at you "Let's just say that I'm a skilled fighter and a living weapon. And I also have survival skills" you said "She is Psycho killing heartless bitch" Luther said causing Five to glanced at him like a lion ready to kill its prey "Careful Luther, she can kill everyone in here within a second" he said "Yeah right" Luther said with a scoff.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, a knife came flying past Luther before it hit a pillar behind him.

Luther lifted his left hand to his left ear before removing it again and his eyes widened when he saw some blood on his finger.

He then looked up at you "You better shut up, I only miss when I mean to" you said "That is interesting and fascinating" Reginald said before he wrote down something in his notebook.

"That's not all" Five got up before he picked up an apple from the middle of the table before he walked over to Luther.

He put the apple on Luther's head before he took a step back "Don't move, unless you want to lose an eye" he said to his brother.

You lifted up your dagger before you threw it towards Luther. The dagger flew through the air and hit the apple in the center before hitting the pillar behind Luther.

Luther turned to look at the apple that was being held on the wall by the dagger.

Five walked over to the dagger before pulling both things from the wall.

"Good hit. Not many can do that, not even with years practice" Reginald said "Thanks" you said "Good skills. That is interesting and fascinating" Reginald said before he wrote down something in his notebook again while Five gave you back your dagger as he sat down next to you.

"And you?" Reginald asked as he looked at Vanya "Uh, maybe we don't take Vanya for a test run" Luther said "Oh, yeah, that's probably not a good idea" Klaus said while moving his glass in his hand "Yeah" Luther said "It's fine. I can handle it" she said as she grabbed a fork "Handle it? Last time you handled it, you definitely blew up the moon" Allison said.

But Vanya raised her fork to tap it against her glass in front of her "No, Vanya don't" Five said as everyone moved their chair back while telling her to stop.

As Vanya hit the glass with the fork making a high-pitched tone resonating and her eyes then moved to the fruit basket that was standing in the middle of the table making it explode.

"Fuck" you said before you moved your seat back and you then crouched down as everyone got fruit on their face and clothes.

Since you reach to dodged, you were the only one other than Vanya that didn't get any fruit on you.

You got up before sitting back down on your seat while you chuckled at the sight in front of you.

Everyone let out a sigh as they started wiping the fruit from their clothes and face while Reginald started cleaning his monocle.

"This is my favorite shirt. Wow" Klaus said "Oops" Vanya said with a smile "That's impressive" Luther said while Allison grabbed her glass, switching the small umbrella out with another one.

"Look, we know that you're involved in a plot to assassinate the president" Diego said as he stood up, putting his hands on the table "You were recently hospitalized, isn't that correct? You still appear to be suffering from delusions of grandeur and acute paranoia" Reginald said "Am I?" Diego asked before he pulled out the picture they saw on the the tape on the day the president got shot.

"Explain this" he said as he put the picture on the table before pointing at it "That's you. That's two days from now, on the grassy knoll at the exact spot the president's gonna get shot" he said and Reginald picked up the picture to examined it before he looked back at Diego.

"Well...I supposed you've solved it" he said before he handed the picture back to Diego "You've single-handedly unearthed my nefarious plot" he said causing Diego to crack a small smile.

"Is that what you want to hear?" Reginald asked and Diego's face dropped "You fancy yourself a do-gooder? The last good man who will save us from our descent into corruption and conspiracy? This is a fantastic delusion. The sad reality is that you're a desperate man, tragically unaware of his own insignificance, desperately clinging to his own ineffectual reasoning" Reginald said causing Diego to sit down slowly "More succinctly, a man in over his head" he said "You're wr...wrong" Diego said stuttering and everyone was quiet as they all look sad.

"Asshole" you mumbled while everyone looked at either Diego or Reginald in silence.

You grabbed a fork that was laying next to you, but then someone grabbed your hand causing you to look to the right to see Five.

"Y/n/n" he whispered, shaking his head as he stared you. He wouldn't have stop his ex-wife from going after his dad, but right now he would 'cause they needed Reginald alive and unharmed.

Five didn't break the eye contact he had with you and you knew that if you stood up, Five would use his powers and blink you away from here.

"Breathe" he whispered to you and as you looked into his soft warm green eyes, you took a deep breath "There you go" he said as he slowly took the knife from you before putting it away.

You sometimes hate how he is always able to calm me down.

"I hate you" you whispered to him "I know" he whispered back before he took a deep breath and looked back at Reginald.

"Look, forget about the president. We have a catastrophic war coming in five days" Five said "We need to figure out how to stop it" you said "War? Men will always be at war with each other" Reginald said "No, this isn't just some war. We're talking about a doomsday. The end of the world" Five said "Well...you're the special ones, aren't you? Why don't you band together and do something about it?" Reginald said "They tried that already, didn't work" you said and Reginald looked at you.

Then suddenly Klaus shot his arms up into the air while his body convulsed as he started gasping.

"Is he having a seizure?" Allison asked "Overdosing probably" Diego said, still looking down at the table "Should we do something?" Luther asked as Klaus let out shuddering grunt "Klaus! Now is not the time. What are you doing?" Five asked him "Is there something wrong with him?" you asked.

Klaus then turned to Reginald as he was distorted gurgling "I'm..." he said "Out with it, boy" Reginald said "Ben" Klaus said before he let out a gasp as he fell off the chair and down on the floor, panting and shuddering.

"What is wrong with him?" you asked "Everyone got a theory" Diego said.

"Well...Thank you for coming" Reginald said as he grabbed his notebook before standing up "I've seen about enough" he said before he turned around and stepped over Klaus "No, I..." Luther said as Reginald kept walking away.

Luther then slammed his fists down on the table before he stood up causing everyone to turn to him. He then ripe his shirt off to reveal his ape like body "Look at what you did to me" Luther said and Reginald looked at him "Look at it!" Luther shouted while Allison tried not to laugh.

"Oh, shit. Why?" Five said as he leaned back back in his chair.

Five found this extremely difficult to have a civil and grow-up conversation with his father. Maybe he should have just talk to his dad alone.

Reginald then looked at you "You girl with the dagger" he said as he pointed on you before he pointed on Five "And you in the culottes" he said causing Five and you to turn to Reginald "A word, in private?" he asked before he turned around and walked towards the door.

"Check please" Allison said out loudly as she pointed her finger in the air.

"Come on Y/n/n" Five said as he walked after Reginald "Yeah, one sec" you said before you walked over to the siblings.

"Listen. This is probably the only time I'm going to get to talk to you guys when Five isn't here. But I need you to hear this. So just listen. Five cares about all of you, more than you can imagine, and I know that you all think that he hates you, but he doesn't. You are the most important people in the word for him" you said "Except you" Diego said but you ignored him.

"You need to realized that at some point. So please just show him some gratitude and respects" you said before you turned around and walked after Five and Reginald.

"I assume you two must be wondering why I have requested a moment alone with you two?" Reginald asked as the three of you was sitting by the bar while island music was playing over the speakers.

You were sitting next to Five on his right side while Reginald was sitting on his left.

"You seems to be the sensible of the bunch" Reginald said before he looked a you "You seems to be a little more of a psychopath" he said "That is who I am" you said "That's because we are the oldest and Y/n is more mature than them" Five said "I'm even more mature than you" you glanced at Five who rolled his eyes.

"Cognac?" Reginald asked you and Five as a guy behind the bar gave you a glass each "Just a smidge" Five said with a small smile "You?" Reginald asked as he looked at you "Why not?" you said.

"The other night you quoted Homer at me" Reginald said as he was looking at Five "Why?" he asked "You forced us all to learn it as kids. In the original Greek, no less" Five said and Reginald nodded before he poured down some alcohol into yours, his and Five's glass.

"So what's your name girl?" Reginald asked and you looked at him "Y/n. Y/n Hudson" you answered "You seem to look like you know what you're doing and you seem pretty good to have on your side" he said "Well, I'm the most dangerous assassin alive so" you said "I have heard about you and I'm impress in what you have done for this town" Reginald said "Thanks" you said.

"Where did you learn to fight like that?" Reginald asked "I spend the start of my childhood trained as an assassin, spend the rest in an apocalypse together with him" you pointed on Five "And then return back to finished the rest of my training" you said and Reginald nodded "Alright" he said before he lifted up his glass in a cheering motion and you and Five nodded as he did the same before the three of you took a sip.

"Mmm" Five said as he took a sip "Not bad" you said.

"I hope your boyfriend and his siblings know how lucky they are with having someone like you on their side" Reginald said "Not boyfriend" you said "We are divorced" Five said.

"You seems to be a little more than than that. I mean even I can feel the strong and powerful connection and bond between you two and that can help in the future" Reginald said and the two of you glanced at each other "Even someone like me know better than to never underestimate the simple, yet undeniable power of true love" Reginald said before he took a sip of his glass while you and Five glance at each other.

"You two are an odd couple but a powerful one. With you two together and by each other side's, maybe you could both think of how to stop the apocalypse and then stop it" Reginald said.

"Listen the world ends in five days if we don't get out of the timeline" Five said "Worlds end. Paleozoic, Jurassic, and so on" Reginald said "I understand that, but we can do something about this one" Five said "Man's greatest flaw: The illusion of control" Reginald said.

"I need your help. All right? You're my last sane option. Otherwise, I gotta make a deal that I really don't wanna make" Five said.

"Well, apparently, you're only option left. We can stop this disaster if Five and his siblings exit the timeline" you said and Reginald nodded, like he gestured for you to continue "Do you know anything about time travel or how to get out of a timline?" you asked "Aren't you from the future? Haven't you done this already?" he asked "No, not exactly. I have lived here for a year. But Five and the others got here by another method. So what do you know about time travel?" you asked.

"In theory?" Reginald asked "In practice" you said "I know it's akin to descending blindly into the depths of freezing waters and reappearing--" "As an acorn. Yeah" Five said, cutting Reginald off, while he remember what he said to him that day he ran away.

"Can I talk to her alone please?" Reginald asked as he looked at Five and he looked at you "Just go. Two minutes. I don't need a bodyguard, remember I'm stronger than you" you said and Five sighed before he got up and walked over to sit by one of the table.

"That man is crazy about you" Reginald said and you looked at him.

"Well, anyway, I know it as an acorn, I know that, time doesn't stop for mastermind. I will agree on that" you said "What transpired when you tried traveling before?" Reginald asked "Five told me he botched it" you said "How?" Reginald asked "He told me that the first time he jumped, he jumped too far forward, got stuck in the future for over 20 years in an apocalypse with me. Then he told me that he jumped too far backwards...expect this time he brought his entire family with him. And scattered them across the 60s which is why they're here" you explain.

"Has he ever thought that maybe his appetite is disproportionate to the size of his abilities" Reginald said before he took a sip of his drink.

Then Five came back "I said two minutes" you said "Well, you are not in control of me, so too bad" he said and you rolled your eyes.

"Listen I need to know what I do wrong" Five said "Maybe your appetite is disproportionate to the size of your abilities. Start small. Seconds, not decades" Reginald said as he looked at Five "Seconds?" Five asked "Mmm" Reginald said with a nod.

"Look, no offense, but we need a bit more time for what we're trying to accomplish" Five said "So much can change in a matter of seconds. One could overthrow an empire. One can change your life forever. One could take a life" Reginald said which caused you to let sadly sigh as you thought about that second that took Sam away from you.

"One could save a life, or more lives. One could stop an apocalypse. One could fall in love" Reginald said causing you and Five to take quick glanced at each other since that is what happen to the two of you.

You then looked back at Reginald .

"An acorn doesn't become an oak overnight" he said and you nodded as you actually understood what he was talking about "Well, thank you, I think that you have given some valuable information and I think that Five can use that" you said and Reginald nodded "We were really hoping you had more than that" Five said "I'm sorry I can't be of more help" Reginald said "I'm sorry too. I gave you such a hard time as a kid. I didn't know any better" Five said "No skin off my teeth" Reginald said before he lifted his glass.

"Enjoy your night and good luck" Reginald said before he left.

"Well, that was a disaster. My siblings made a complete fool of themselves and the old man can't help about time-traveling" Five said as you and him walk towards the elevator "Come on, you got a chance to talk to your dad, that gotta be a bonus" you said and Five sighed.

"Let's go" the two of you got up before going to the elevator. 

"Well, he seems to be a wise old man" you said as you and Five was standing in the elevator "That advice doesn't make sense" he said "It actually does, you just need to think about it. Rewind time slowly, but only rewind second by second, like turning back a clock, but only with seconds" you said and he nodded even so he didn't understand it all.

The elevator door opened and you walked out, towards the exit.

"Where are you going?" Five asked "Back to my house, I'm tired and if you try to force me to go with you. I will break your legs" you said and Five let out a sigh before he turned around and walked the other way.

14 years ago (For you)

It was in the middle of the night and you were sitting in the living on the couch with tears in your eyes as you stroke your hands down on your round eight-month pregnant belly.

Then you heard footsteps "Y/n?" Five enter the living room "You okay?" he asked but you didn't answer.

"Baby keeping you up?" he asked as he walked further into the living room.

"Oh" he said when he saw your face "Hey" he rushed over to you "What's wrong?" he crouched down in front of you.

"I think I'm scared" you answered "About the baby?" he asked "You know, right now, everything is great" you smiled and he nodded.

"I mean, the baby's safe and sound in here" you put your hand on your baby bump "Probably safer than he will ever be" you said and he nodded as he took a glance at your bump with a smile before looking back at you.

"And then they're born, and everything changes" you sniffed "Yeah, but in a good way" he smiled "I mean, we finally get to meet our kid, you know? Hold them in our arms, see their face, hear their voice. Get to know this person that we made together" he said "Yeah, we're not done making that person yet. You know and they go out into the world, and that's when everything gets harder. It's like, every decision, every choice that we make...it impacts who they become" you  said "But we're gonna make good choices" he chuckled with a smile.

"What if we get it wrong? What if everything you--you do to protect someone only end up hurting them?" you sob.

"I'm scared that I'm more like my mom than I think" you sob "You're not" he sat up a bit.

"I'm scared that I will fail the baby, like my mom failed me" you said "You wouldn't" he shook his head "How do you know?" you asked "Because underneth that stubbron tough woman, is a sweet, kind and wonderful woman" he said and you smild.

"Look. I don't know your mom that well. But I know you. I know us, and...Yeah, we're gonna make mistakes, but our kid is gonna forgive us because they'll know how much we love them" he said and you let out a sigh.

"Hey" he put my face in his hands "This baby is gonna change our lives, but for the better, we are going to do great, and I promise you that we will get through this together" he stroke his thumb down your cheek.

"You are not The Handler, you are better than her, you have proof and show me that, so you are gonna do great, you will become an amazing mom. I know it" he said.

"I think you're gonna be a really great dad" you said "I'm gonna try" he said and you nodded "Maybe that's all we can do" you said "Come here" he opened up his arms "Please" you said and he wrapped his arms around you,  pulling you into a warm hug, comforting you.      

You knew as long as you had Five, you could get through everything.
