CHAPTER NINETEEN: SOUND WAVES

Diego was laying on the couch almost unconscious while Lila was sitting by him, cauterizing a stab wound on his side.

You were standing leaning against the wall, watching while Diego was gasping and screaming as Lila was burning the wound.

"Shh! Don't move. This thing is very finicky" Lila said "What happened?" Diego asked "I saved your stupid life" Lila answered "Were you following me?" Diego asked "Uh, hey, how about a little gratitude knife boy. If it wasn't for me, you'd be dead. That's twice now, by the way" Lila said.

Diego's eyes widened as he lifted his head before he looked down at himself to noticed that his clothes was missing and he only had a bed sheet to cover himself.

"Where are my clothes? The hell happened to my clothes?" he asked "I said, don't move" Lila said but Diego began to move and Lila dug the tool into his wound making a sizzling sound causing Diego to scream and groaning in pain before he laid back down, moaning from the pain. "There. That's better" Lila said.

"What a baby" you chuckled.

Five let out a sigh as he entered the room "Oh. He isn't dead" he said as he was looking at Diego while he had his hands in his pockets.

"Disappointed?" Lila asked as Five walked towards the coffee table in front of the couch "Oh, to see you? Always" he said with a fake smile as he grabbed a white rag before walking back to stand next to you, pressing the rag against the wound on the side of his neck.

"Now you know how I feel when you showed up both times" you said and Five glanced at you.

"So much hostility in such a tiny package. Did you cut yourself shaving? I could teach you to shave like a big boy or maybe you and Y/n did something dirty" Lila said which caused you to glance angry at her "We are divorced" you snapped while Five let out a sigh.

"I just ran into an old family friend" he said as he took the rag off his neck before looking at it.

Then there was a soft snoring sound causing Five to turn around to see Elliott still tied to the chair, sleeping.

"You didn't untie him?" he asked as he looked back at Lila "Was I supposed to?" Lila asked and you rolled your eyes before you walked over and untie Elliott.

"So you are not going to kill me?" Elliott asked "Only if you gives us a reason to" you looked at him and you could see the fear in his eyes.

"Well, thank you for not killing me" he said "Thank you for not calling the cops" you said before you looked at Five.

"Come on" you grab his wrist "Where are we going?" he asked "To clean that cut before it get infected" you drag him into the guest room.  

"Please be quiet!" Lila called out as Five shut the door after him.

"Sit" you said "Yes Madam" he smiled before he sat down and you rolled your eyes before you grabbed the first-aid kit.  

"Let me see" you turned to face Five "Is not that bad" he said "Can you please not be so stubborn and let me see. A chimpanzee can actually hurt you, even a baby. So let's me just clean it so it doesn't get infected" you said "Do you do care?" he asked "If anyone is allow to kill you, it shall be me" you said and he moved his head so you could look at the cut.

You dip the rag in the water and started cleaning his cut on the neck, you had your head tilted so you could see his neck better.

Readjusting the rag in your hand, you started dabbing the blood around the cuts lightly before putting the rag on the small night table next to the bed.

You then grabbed a bottle of peroxide, before you flipped the cap open while Five just kept staring at you "If you keep staring at me like that, I will pour this peroxide down your damn eyes" you hissed before you began dipping the rag around the cuts causing him to flinch a bit.

"Things isn't really going your way, huh?" you asked as you continue cleaning the cut.

"It's like my siblings don't appreciate everything I sacrificed for them. They never understood that every drop of blood that my hands spilled was for them" he said "It's not your fault that they are so selfish and stubborn to see all the things you have done for them" you said "I think they forget that I'm a human being with feelings that can make mistakes" he said "Just like me you were born into a family that doesn't always appreciate you, but one day things are going to be very different" you said "You think so?" he asked as he looked at you "I don't think. I know. One day they will see and understand all you have done for them. I don't know if all of them will see it, but I have a feeling that one of them don't and wouldn't blame you for the things that have happen" you said "I hope" he said.

"You know, I think that this is gonna leave a scar" you said "It doesn't matter, it's always the scars you can't see that hurt the most" Five said as he was thinking back to the apocalypse "Yeah" you said, also thinking back to the apocalypse.

"Did my dad hurt you?" he asked "No. I'm fine, not that you actually care. You said that I wouldn't talk to him. Once again Five, you have proof yourself a completely waste of my time. I kicked his ass, and he didn't expected that" you remove the rag "Remember that I'm a person of my word, compared to you" you said as you wipe the last drop of blood away from his neck. 

Five then looked at you, a strand of his hair falling over his face. "I know that you hate me. But can I say that I'm really happy over that you are helping me and I'm glad that I had you in the apocalypse, I wouldn't have make it without you, so thank you" you couldn't help but smile "I'm glad you finally admit that you can't make it without me" he chuckled. 

He then lifted his hand before he stroke a piece of your hair away from your face which caused you to look at him and your eyes locked.

You didn't think when Five came back that it would be like this. You honestly don't know what to expect. So many things would be different if he just show up earlier. Your feelings would be different if he show up just a few months ago. If he hasn't left you all alone in the Commission. If he has taken you with him. It would have being different.      

Five glanced at your lips before he looked into your eyes again. 

He then started leaning closer "Five don't" you said as his forehead was against yours "Come on you miss this, just as much as I do" he whispered as his lips were brushed against yours. 

You took a deep breath, fighting the growing urge to taste those alluring lips of his again. He leaned down even farther so your lips were parted by nothing but your warm breaths. He rested his forehead on yours, trapping you with both his arms.

But before his lips could touch yours, you snap back to reality and in one quick move you grab his collar before pushing him against the wall.    

"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUT TRY TO DO THAT!" You hissed "Sorry I was caught in the moment. I thought..." you pull up your knife and put it at his chest "You do that again, and I will kill you" you hissed "You wouldn't kill me" he said, looking at you "You can't" 

"I would be so sure about that" you said "Then proof it" he said and you press the knife against his throat as your faces were inches from each other.

Your nose was brushed Five's chin. He grinned mockingly, but his heart rocketed. Five knew that you could kill him if you wanted to.

You pressed the blade into Five's throat causing a tiny drop of blood to appear.

"Consider this as a warning" you hissed "I've consider it as nothing" he said with a smirked as you stared into each other's eyes.   

 But then there was a sound of an alarm buzzing.

"Hey, we got one!" Elliott shouted as he dropped his spoon in his bowl with oatmeal "Hey, one of those machines you asked for is going crazy" he said "You better check that out" you said as you step back from Five.

"Yeah" Five nodded before you both walked out of the bedroom and Five walked over to Elliott.

"Which one?" Five asked he stopped behind Elliott "It's the, uh, atmospheric radar" Elliott answered as he was looking at the green radar screen in front of them.

"Good" Five said "I don't get it. What are you tracking?" Elliott asked and turned to look at the two "A hurricane? A storm front?" he asked "Sound waves" Five answered "Sound waves" Elliott said a little bit confused and Five took a step back "Wow. What--" Elliott said but Five blink over to you "And you are coming with me" he said "Wait? What?..." but he grabbed your hand before blinking you both away.

(Years ago)

"Ready to starts with guns?" you asked and Five nodded.

You and Five have found some guns in the apocalypse and to waste the time, you both decided it was good learning how to use a gun.

Since your mom have already taught how to use both a gun and a knife, you wanted to teach Five.    

 "A gun is not like a knife. When you're using a gun. You always want to remember how many shots you fire. Running out of bullets can get you killed. It also makes you look stupid. But using a gun isn't just learning how to point and shoot. Because an average person can move 21 feet in 1,5 seconds. If they have a knife, they can gut you before you can pull and fire. So with a gun you need distance" you said as you picked up a gun.

"Common misconception is you need a rigid stance when firing. Instead, keep a slight bend in your arms. Bring your other hand up for support, pressing your thumbs together. Drop one foot back, find a steady base, bring the tip of the pistol up to the target, squeeze the trigger" you said before you turned around to look at the mannequins that you have found and have decide to use them as targets.

You pointed the gun at the targets before pulling the trigger, hitting all three targets.

"Woah. Impressed" Five said "Well that take years to master" you said as you turned to him "You try" you said and Five pick up at gun.

"No, you're doing it wrong" you said as you were teaching Five how to shoot a gun. "Listen" you said before walked up to stand next to him "On a SWAT, they broke shots down into three steps" you said before you grabbed a gun and pointed at the target at the edge of the room "One: Front sight, focus on the front sight, not the target" you said before you pull the trigger, firing one shot, hitting the target in the chest.

"Two: Controlled trigger press" you said and fired another shot, hitting the target in the stomach.

"Three: Follow though after the shot, you come right back at the target. Front sight, trigger press, follow though" you said before you pulled the trigger, hitting the target in the face.

"You do those three things, you'll hit your target every time" you said as you lowered the gun before you looked at him "You try" you said and he nodded before he did what you told him and he hit the target "Amazing. Most will take weeks to learn" you said "Well, I'm not like most people" he said and the two of you looked at each other and he smirked at you which cause you to rolled your eyes.

"Why are you even teaching me this?" he asked "Because you need it and it's a good way to past the time, beside I don't want to keep saving your ass or babysit you" you said and he rolled his eyes.

Present day

You let out a gasp before stumbling a bit when you and Five appeared by a cornfield.

"Asshole" you slap Five across the face causing him to let out a grunt "I told you to not do that again" you hissed "So you are going to kill like you said you would if I do that again" he tilted his head "If I kill you, I will be left to clean up your mess so not now" you said "I'm flattered" he said with a smile "Wipe that smile of your face asshole or I will do it with my fist" you snapped "Someone is in a bad mood, your time at the month?" he asked and you rolled your eyes "Wouldn't you like to know that?" you asked sarcastically "No, not really" he said sarcastically while shaking his head lightly.

"Just come on, let's find Vanya" you said and the two you started walking forward while looking around as you walked past a part of the field that was a circle and the corn was knock down.

"Watch where you are stepping" Five said as you both walked farther into the cornfield while moving the cornstalks out of the way so you could get through.

Five almost tripped when you came into a small open area which cause you to let out a laugh "Yeah, yeah, real funny" he said sarcastically before he let out a softly scoffs.

"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up" he muttered "Don't be a dumbass then and watch where you are stepping. Just like you said to me, don't forget to do it yourself" you chuckled.     

Five then spotted Vanya sitting on the ground, hiding in between all the cornstalks, so he walked closer to her before he moved some of the cornstalks out of the way while you were standing behind him.  

"Hi, Vanya" Five said with a smile as he looked down at her "Who are you?" Vanya asked, slowly getting up "I'm your brother" Five answered "I have a brother?" Vanya asked before she looked at you "Hello Vanny, nice to see you again" you said "Who are you? Are you my sister?" Vanya asked.

You almost bursted out laughing "Eww, no. I'm kinda your ex-sister-in-law" you said.

"Look, you can either stay here and wait for the IKEA mafia to come back to kill you, or you can come with us" Five said before he turned around and you follow after him "Wh...Why are they trying to kill me?" Vanya asked as she followed the two of you through the cornfield.

"'Cause you're not supposed to be here, Vanya" Five said as he pushed past some of the cornstalks "In Dallas?" Vanya asked, confused "No. Here, in 1963" Five answered.

The three of you walked out to a large opening area in the middle of the cornfield with corn flattened.

You and Five glanced at each other before stopping and turned around when you got few feet into the large circle.

"Holy shit" Vanya said with her eyes widened "Yeah, pretty wild, right?" Five said, looking back on the area before he turned to Vanya "It's good to see your powers are still intact" he said.

You three arrived at the nearby diner and you sat down by the counter.

The waitress gave coffee to you and Five while Vanya just got water.

Five looked up from the mug as the waitress stopped pouring the coffee from the pot "Leave the pot, dear" Five said to her and she put the pot in front of Five next to his mug "Thank you" he said as he grabbed the pot before he poured more coffee into his mug.

The waitress turned around "Lippy little shit" she said as she walked away.

 "You gonna tell me what the hell's going on?" Vanya asked as she was looking at Five.

"You don't remember?" he asked and she shook her head.

"Well, then I guess Five have to start from the beginning" you glanced at your ex-husband and he let out a sigh.

"When you were a baby, you were bought by an eccentric billionaire. He raised you in an elite academy with six other siblings with extraordinary powers. But in the year 2019, in order to avoid the apocalypse, we jumped into a vortex and ended up being scattered throughout the timeline in Dallas, Texas" Five explain "Where you one of them?" Vanya asked you "No" you shook your head "I first met this asshole and douchebag later" you pointed your thumb at Five who turned his head to look at Vanya.

"I have lived here for a year until this asshole came, begging for my help which I regret now" you said which caused Five to roll his eyes.

"Any questions?" he asked as he looked at his sister "What do you mean 'the apocalypse'?" Vanya asked shakily "He means the end of the world as we know it" you answered "Yeah, but how?" Vanya asked.

"It means that everyone will die. Everything is destroyed and there's not a single life left on the planet. Everything is dead and gone" you said as you thought back to the apocalypse. 

"Yeah, but how?" Vanya asked "You really don't remember anything?" Five asked and you glanced at Vanya before you look at your left shoulder and arm.

You were not angry at Vanya for doing it, she lost control, beside it was not that deep and they were slowly disappearing.

"No, nothing before a month ago" Vanya said "Then what do you remember?" Five asked.

"I landed in, like a...back alley. Got hit by a car. My head was ringing like crazy. I had no idea how I got there, where I came from" Vanya said and you looked at her with a sympathetic look.

"What causes the apocalypse?" she asked as she looked at Five.

Five glanced at you before looking back at Vanya before letting out a sigh. "Asteroid impact. The big kaboom ends everything. Just like the one that got the dinosaurs except way worse" he said as he picked up his mug "Bad news is, it followed us here" he said and Vanya looked at him "What do you mean 'followed us'?" she asked and Five looked at her "Probably when this asshole left with you and the others" you pointed at Five "He was stupid enough to take the bomb with him. So therefore there is another apocalypse" you said.

"Eight days from now, the world ends in a nuclear doomsday. It's a different disease, but...same result" Five said.

"That can't be right" Vanya said, tilting her head "I saw it. With my own eyes" Five said before he let out a sigh "You were there. Y/n wasn't" he said and you looked at him.

"Shit" Vanya said, shaking her head "I need to make a phone call" she said before getting up her seat, walking over to a phone that was on the wall.

"Vanya" Five said "Let her make a call" you said before you looked at Five "You do know that you just made a mistake by not telling her the truth" you said and he glanced at you.

"Look, if she's the bomb again, I might as well keep it a secret before she blows up again" Five said "But wasn't that the reason she blew up the last time?" you asked and Five looked down.

He took a deep breath before he walked over to Vanya and ended the call "What the hell?" Vanya asked as she was looking at him "We don't have time for this" Five said "That's my friend and you just hung up on" Vanya said "Listen to me" Five said as he grabbed Vanya's shoulders "Those people from the field are coming after us. They are never going to stop. Do you understand me?" he asked softly "We need to stick together, find the others and figure out how to stop doomsday. Whoever this person is, they can't be more important than the end of the world" he said "Maybe they are for her, Five" you said and Five remove his hands from her shoulders.

 "We need to go" he said and Vanya place the phone back with a sigh.

"You guys go, I will go back to Elliott" you said "Why?" Five looked at you "Maybe I can find out where Allison and Klaus is" you said "So you want to help me?" he asked "The faster we do this, the faster you and your siblings are out of here and then we don't ever have to see each other again" you said before you turned around and walked away.

Five let out a sigh as he saw you walk away "So that is your wife?" Vanya asked "Ex-wife" Five said "Ex-wife?" Vanya asked and Five nodded "What happen between the two of you?" Vanya asked "Everything, it's my fault for not fighting more" he said "So you still love her?" Vanya asked "Let's just go get Luther" Five said as he walked over to the car.

Five and Vanya arrived at a fight club and they spotted Luther inside a boxing ring fighting against another huge guy.

The crowd was cheering and shouting as the three walked through the crowd before they moved closer to the ring so they could see better.

They saw Luther getting beating up by the other huge guy.

"Look, he's pummeling him" Vanya said "Hit me again" Luther said to the guy and the guy punched him across the face.

"Again! Hit me!" Luther said "Luther, are you crazy? Just hit him!" Five shouted "Come on, Luther!" Jack shouted "Hit me. I wanna feel pain. I wanna feel all the pain. Give me everything you've got!" Luther said and the guy threw a punch at him so hard that he flew off the ground causing the crowd to be quiet and Vanya's and Five's eyes widened in shock.

Luther landed on his back and the crowd started shouting again before angry shouts was heard.

"Shit. Luther" Five said "Why didn't he fight back?" Vanya asked.

Lila and Diego was laying in bed after they have slept together.

Lila slowly sat up from the bed before taking her clothes on and left slowly, so she didn't woke up Diego.

"Going somewhere?" a voice asked causing Lila to jump a little bit to see you sitting on the couch.

"Hello Lila" you said "Hey Y/n" Lila said "Remember the floor is lava. God, I use to hate that game" you said as you shook your head while looking down on the floor "Jumping from table to chair to bed, first one who touches the ground lose and I always let you win" you said and Lila nodded "Yeah, I remember that" she said as she looked at you.

"Do you ever sleep?" she asked "I tried but it's a little hard when my sister is banging my ex-husband's brother so loud that you can hear it in the whole apartment" you said as you looked back at Lila "Did you and Diego had fun, for it sounded like it" you said and Lila rolled her eyes.

"It sounded like Diego is good in bed" you said "You heard it?" Lila asked "It's not like I wanted to" you said "You're already sleeping with a Hargreeves, this one is mine" Lila said "Diego is not my type, beside I knew you two would match together" you said and Lila rolled her eyes as she put her shoes back on.

"I wonder if all the brothers in this family is good in bed, maybe I should try Five next time, 'cause since you did him so many times, he must be so good" Lila said "Please you are far from Five's type" you scoff "What if I am. I mean the two of us are alike so maybe I am" she tilted her head before smiling.

"You try to make a move on Five and I will break your arm" you snapped "I thought you hate him" she said "I do" you said "So you don't want to go back to him but you don't want anyone else to to touch him. That doesn't sound fair" she said "Five is not stupid to fall for your tricks, I know him" you said.

"You know, I can't really see what you see in that little shit. Did you only get together with him because it was the apocalypse and he was the only one left or was it to get back on mom?" she asked "No. There is a long list in why I fell for him" you said "So you still love him?" she asked.

"No" you shook your head "Well, your eyes say something else, I don't think mom would glad to know that you are going soft again" she said "I don't care" you said.

"Then come on" she said "I'm not going back" you said and she looked at you "I'm not going back to mom or The Commission. I'm done" you said "Well, I can see that. I don't think mom will be happy to know that you are the helping the enemy" she said "I don't care what mom think" you said before you got up.

"When will you open your eyes and see that our mom don't care about us, that she don't love us" you said "She does love you, it's just you that have gone soft, that little shit Five Hargreeves has brainwash you into thinking that mom don't love you" Lila said and you raised a eyebrow.

"Have you told your husband who your mom is and who I am?" Lila asked "He is not my husband. He is my ex-husband" you said "You better tell him that, if you truly love him, you should be honest with him" Lila said "Like you're honest with Diego?" you asked "I don't care about Diego" Lila said "Right" you said sarcastically.

"Y/n, just come" Lila said "No, I'm not getting near that bitch again" you said and Lila took a step closer to you "Call mom that again and I will punch you" she said "Touch Five or break Diego's heart and I will punch you" you said "I thought you love me?" Lila asked "I do" you said with a nod.

"So you are chosen Five's side?" she asked "I'm chosen my side" you said "Well, when you find out that we are the only family you have left, the only people that truly care about you and still love you. You will come crawling back to us, beg mom in taken you back" Lila said "In your dreams" you said and she scoff before turning around and left.

Lila walked out of the apartment and into a pet shop. She walked over to some puppies "Hi, little guy" she said to a puppy.

She then walked over to a small fish tank before she dipped her hand down, grabbing a small treasure chest before taking it out.

She opened it to find a golden room key with the number 217 on.

She took the key before walking out of the pet shop.

Lila arrived at the motel before she used the key, opening a door before she enter "I'm late, I know" she said as she enter, looking around.

"All kind of crazy going on outside" she said and she grabbed an envelope before she flopped down on the bed "Hey, can I order room service? I'm starving" she said.

The Handler exited the bathroom as she was brushing her hair "Of course. You deserve it" she said and Lila sat up before she smiled "Thanks, Mum" she said before she got up, walking over to The Handler and kissed her on the cheek.
