CHAPTER ELEVEN: GOODBYE FIVE HARGREEVES

Twelve years ago (for you) Nine years ago (For Five)

You were cleaning dishes while Five was playing with your son Sam who was almost a year.

Sam looked a lot like his dad, he had Five's hair and eye color.  

When you and Five found out that you were pregnant, you couldn't be happier. And when Sam was born, you felt your life was complete, he was a light in both of your lives. He was the most precious and beautiful thing you both have ever seeing and you didn't think that you would be able to love something that small with your whole heart.  

Life had never been better for you and Five, you and your husband had found profound joy in your roles as parents and everything seemed just perfect. Your family had grown closer and the love you shared was palpable. 

It was adorable watching your child grow and develop. Sure there was sleepless nights, waking up in the middle of the night when he was crying or you needed to feed him, and endless days of cleaning, but everyday you and Five got to watch the kid's wide-eyed expression at little things.

It is the most exhausted thing to take care of a young child. But you were doing it together. Both you and Five was amazing parents for little Sam.

Both you and Five was raised roughly, not treated kindly. Constant training and always competin. So when you and Five had a kid of your own, you both made a promise to not let your kid grow up like you two did. You will treat them with love and affection, teaching them they're loved equally, no matter what. Spending lovely time with them, bonding, taken them to fun experiences, just to see them smile and have a good life was more than enough for you and Five.

"Love look" Five said which caused you to turn and your eyes widened when you saw Sam on his feet. Five was behind Sam as he was holding his tiny hands while he was walking by himself.

"Oh my God" you smiled "Our little boy is walking" Five said as he support Sam while the little boy by himself used his feet to walk forward.

Five looked down at his little son before he slowly let go of his hands and Sam didn't fell instead he were standing up, all by himself.

Five then walked over to his wife before you both crouched down "Come here, Sweetheart" you said "Come on buddy, you can do it" Five said.

"Come here" you said and Sam started taking another step towards his parents "His first steps" you said with a big smile on your face.

"Come here, you can do it" Five said as Sam starting taking more steps towards his parents.

The two of you opened up your arms as Sam walked closer to you "You can do it Sammy" Five said with a proud smile on his face.

When Sam was closed enough he felled into his parents' arms "Sweetheart, that was your first steps" you lifted Sam up your arms "Five, our son took his first steps" you said with tears of joy in your eyes "Well done" Five said as he was holding one of Sam's fingers wiggling it up and down "That's my boy" he said as he kissed his son on the cheek "Who is already getting big" you kissed Sam on the forehead.

"I think we should make another one" Five said and you looked at your husband "Do you really mean that?" you asked "Of course. We can't have little Sam grow up without a sibling, someone to play with. Keeping him occupied while we work on finding a way back and a busy with other things" Five said and you looked at Sam.

"What do you say Sweetheart, you want a little brother or sister?" you asked and Sam said a toddler sound before putting his hands on his parents' cheek.

"I will take that as a yes" you both chuckled "The captain have spoken" you said before you looked at your husband "Thank you for giving all of this. A family" you said "I'm saying thank you too. Thank you for giving me a family" he said and the two of you kissed Sam on the cheek before you shared a kiss.

Later that day, you walked into the bedroom after putting Sam to sleep.

"He is asleep?" Five asked as he was sitting in the bed "Yeah" you nodded before you changes onto your PJ and went up in the bed next to your husband.

"So wanna try now?" he suddenly asked and you snapped your head at him "What?" you asked "Wanna try having another baby" he raise his eyebrow while sending you a flirting look.

"Five, we can't" you said "Don't you want to have another baby?" he asked "I do. But what about the important mission we have next week" you said "I know. But it's not like you will have the baby tomorrow" he said and you sighed.

"So what do you say?" he looked at you "You will always make the final call since it's your body that is doing all the hard job" he said and you chuckled before kissing him.

"I need an answer" he chuckled while you laughed.

"Put a baby in me, Mr. Hargreeves" you both laughed "Oh I will, Mrs. Hudson-Hargreeves" he sent you his flirting smile before kissing you.

While your lips were connected, he rolled on top of you.

Twelve years later (for you) Nine years later (For Five)

"The bastard that nearly killed our sister is still out there, with Vanya. We need to go after her" Diego said as him, Five and Klaus was in the living room.

Klaus was sitting on the couch while Five and Diego was standing in front of him.

"Vanya is not important" Five said, still limping a bit "Hey, that's your sister. A little heartless even for you, Five" Diego told him "I'm not saying I don't care about her, but if the apocalypse happens today, she dies along with the other seven billion of us" Five said.

"He's right" a voice said and the turned towards the sound to see you "Harold Jenkins is our first priority. But we have a problem and that is Jenkins is with Vanya" you said "Y/n" Five said with a smile as he walked up to you.

"You okay?" you looked at him before giving him a slap across the face causing him to let out a grunt while Diego and Klaus let out a gasp.

"Does that answer your question?" you raise a brow.

"That was for dragging me into this mess" you said as Five rub his cheek "Okay, I deserve that" he said and you nodded "More than that" you said before you walked past him and into the living room.

"So are we going to get this Harold guy or not?" you asked "You will stay here" Five said "Not gonna happen. I'm going like it or not" you said and he let out a sigh.

"Let's go" Diego said "You guys count me out" Klaus said causing the three of you to stop before you turned to look at him.

"I mean, you know, no offense or whatever. It's just...I kind of feel like this is a whole lot of pressure for newly-sober me, so..." he said "You're coming" Diego said "No, no, no" Klaus said "If Y/n can go right after she just got cut in her arm. You can go too. So get up" Diego said "Yeah, Y/n can go, but she's not going anywhere" Five said "Will you shut up?" you asked "Make me" Five said and you rolled your eyes.

"I think we can all agree that my power's....I mean, it's pretty much useless I'd just be holding you guys back" Klaus said "Klaus, get up" Five said "You can't make me" Klaus said and in one quick move Diego pulled up his knife before throwing it towards Klaus and the knife hit the cushions right between Klaus' feet causing him to spread his legs so he wouldn't get hit while he put his hands up quickly.

You then pulled up a knife before throwing it towards Klaus, hitting the cushions, only inches from Klaus' left foot.

"I only miss when I want to" you said and Klaus let out a sigh "Oh, then again a little exercise couldn't hurt" he said before getting up.

"You're lucky I'm letting you come with us. But if your arm or shoulder start hurting even a little bit, you tell me right away. Got it" Five said as his face was only an inch from yours and you raised a brow "And if I don't tell you?" you asked.

"Lovebirds, let's go" Diego said causing the two of us to pull away and the four of you left the Academy.

"Five, maybe one of these days you realize that you can't control me" you said "But I can care about you" he mumbled as he glanced at you.

---

"Woah" you said as you, Five, Klaus and Diego were all in Harold's house but only to see his dead body laying on the floor in the living room. 

His body was impaled with knives, scissors and pencils.

"That look like a work I would do if I was really angry" you said.

"It's not exactly what I was expecting" Klaus said, putting his hands on his knees as as they were looking at the dead body.

"The understatement of the year" Five said as he had his hands in his pockets.

"No sign of Vanya" Klaus said "Five, do you still have that eye you told me about?" you asked "Yeah, why?" he asked and you pointed on the eye patch.

"Let's get out of here, before the cops come" Diego said before him and Klaus was about to leave but then Five spoke up "In a minute" he said as he took out the eye from his pocket while he let out a sigh before he inhale sharply as he walked towards Harold.

He crouched down next to Harold's body and ripped the tape over his left eye off.

"Come on, Five, what are you..." Diego said as Five put the prosthetic eye into the place where Harold's missing one was "Ugh, wow" Klaus said.

"Same eye color, same pupil size. Guys this is it" Five said as he looked back at his brothers before he looked back at the body "The eye I've been carrying around for decades, it--It's found its right home" he said before he took the eye out again.

"We got the guy we needed to kill to stop the apocalypse" he said "Yay! Let's go" Klaus said and was about to walk away but Diego grabbed his vest, pulling him back.

"No, no. Wait, wait. It can't be this easy" Five said as he got up "Look, this is the note that I got from The Commission" he said before he pulled out the piece of paper as he stood between Klaus and Diego.

The three of you leaned closer so they could see the note "The one that says 'Protect Harold Jenkins' aka Leonard Peabody" Five said and pointed on the body "Yeah?" Diego said "But who killed him? Who did this?" Five asked "I think I know who" you mumbled "I have a crazy idea. Crazy, but why don't we find Vanya...and ask her what happened?" Klaus asked "If Vanya got away from this asshole, she might be headed back to the Academy" Diego said and Five grabbed your wrist before blinking them away.

---

You, Five, Diego and Klaus had been searching the whole Academy for Vanya, but with no luck.

"No sign of Vanya" Five said as the four of you met up on the second floor by the stairs.

"She's not in any of the rooms" Diego said "She's not downstairs, either" Klaus said "Then she is not here" you said "Well, I'm out" Diego said as he patted Klaus' shoulder before walking towards the stairs "Wait, Wait..." Klaus said.

"Where are you going? Vanya's still out there, and so are Hazel and Cha-Cha" Five said "I know, I'm gonna get my things and then I'm outta here. I got some unfinished business with those fools" Diego said before he walked away and Klaus let out a sigh.

"Why is he after Hazel and Cha-Cha again?" you asked "They killed his girlfriend" Five said and you nodded "Then I understand him" you said. 

"Hey" Five said before he turned to look at Klaus "Did Dad say anything about the apocalypse when you spoke to him? Any clues as to how it happened?" he asked "No. No clues. Truly terrific shave. But no clues" Klaus answered and Five let out a sigh "Jeez" he said.

"You know, come to think of it, he did mention something about my potential, and how I've barely even scratched the surface of my--" "How did he know about the apocalypse?" Five asked as he let go of your hand while the three of you was walking down the stairs "I don't know, but listen. This whole jumping through time thing of yours, how did...How did you know how to do that?" Klaus asked as you got to the bottom of the stairs.

"I didn't. You'd realize that if you were actually sober" Five said before he walked past Klaus.

"Hey, I am sober" Klaus said, turning around "I've been sober for two--almost two days now" he said and Five turned around to face him "Yeah, two days" he said "It feels like 45 years" Klaus said "Who are you kidding, Klaus? I've seen you fidgeting all day" Five said and Klaus turned to Five before he took a couple of steps towards him "Well, I guess we're both fighting our addictions, then" he said "I'm not an addict" Five said "Yeah, you are. You're addicted to drug called the apocalypse and some woman name Y/n" Klaus said "You're wrong" Five said "First sign. Denial" Klaus said and turned away from him.

But Five blinked in front of him "You and I, we're not the same" he said while he had his finger pointed at him and Klaus chuckled "I've seen that look in the eye of someone who doesn't know who they are without their high anymore" he said and Five put his hand down "Trust me" Klaus said as he put his hands close to his chest "You gotta just let it go" he said and Five threw the prosthetic eye against the wall causing it to shattered into pieces.

He then walked past Klaus towards the living room "Figuratively, but yeah, that works, too" Klaus said before he sigh "One day at a time" he said before walking away.

"Well, I better go" you said and was about to walk towards the front door but then Five grab your wrist, stopping you.

"What?" you turned to look at Five who look like a lost puppy.

"Don't go" he said, almost whispering. "I told you that I would leave as soon as we have stop the apocalypse and we have so...." you were about to walk away but Five kept holding your wrist.

"Let go of me Five, otherwise I will break your arm" you said "You have already broken my heart" he snapped "You broke mine too" you snapped back.

He let out a sigh "Will you just stay, just for one drink, a margarita" he said "Please don't go, just yet. Just stay for a little while, please" he beg.

"For me" he said as you looked into each other's eyes "Okay, I will stay, but only for a little while then I'm leaving" you said and he nodded.

The sound of a blender whirs was heard as Five was making a margarita before he poured some down on his glass.

"Well, do you think we really did it?" Five asked as he handed a glass with margarita to you "Think we actually stopped the apocalypse?" he asked you that was sitting next to him with a margarita while jazz music was playing on the radio. 

"Well, I think we did. See it as a mission" you said "Yeah and there is not a single mission, we have not complete" Five said and you nodded.

Five then looked at you "I missed this" you looked at him "What?" you asked "This, just the two of us having a drink" he said "Hmm" you looked back at your glass before taking a sip.

"Hey Y/n" Five said and you looked back at him "I..." he scratch the back of his head "I have something to tell you...." you tilted your head.

"I---" the sound of the door bell cut him off.

"I will get it" he said before getting up and walked towards the front door, opening it to reveal Hazel on the other side with a gun pointed at him and Five let out a sigh.

"Hey, old-timer" Hazel said "Do you have my sister?" Five asked calm as he was holding his margarita "And...if not, would you like a margarita?" he asked and a confused look appeared on Hazel's face "Come on" Five said before turning around, walking back into the living room, leaving the door opened.

Your eyes widened when you saw Hazel walking into the living room "Hey Hazel" you said "Hey Y/n, surprise to see you here" he said "Well, I kinda got drag into this" you said before you looked at the gun Hazel was holding.

"Here to kill me?" you tilted your head "No" Hazel shook his head.   

"You're here to kill me?" Five asked as he sat down on the counter where you were sitting.

Hazel furrowed his brows before he realized that he still had the gun in his hand "Oh. Shit. Sorry. Old habits" Hazel said as he put away the gun.

"Well, I can understand why you might feel that way, you know" he said.

"Well, You attacked my house, tried to kill my family and kidnapped my brother" Five said to Hazel "Well, there's not much I can do about the past. Don't forget I'm not the only killer in this room. You two got your own bloody history, Bonnie and Clyde" Hazel said as he looked at both you and Five "Speaking of which, that job you two did in Calhoun, that shit's legendary, and Y/n you are a still a legende and a celebrity in The Commission, I always bragging about how I trained with you. You two are really legendary. Can't believe I'm actually sitting here talking to you two, after all---" "We don't need the flattery, Hazel?" you cut him off "Why are you here?" Five asked.

"Well, I'm, you know--" but Hazel was cut off when Diego ran into the room and kicked Hazel in the back sending him falling forwards onto the floor with a grunt.

"Diego, stop!" Five said as Diego jumped over Hazel "Get up" he said to him and Hazel put his hands under himself. But as soon as he was on his hands and knees, Diego swung a kick at his face causing Hazel to let out a groan as his body jerking backwards.

Diego then swung another kick to at his face "You know, before you kill him, you might wanna hear what he has to say--" Five said as Hazel punched Diego in the stomach, causing him to fall backwards.

Hazel stood up just as Diego got up too before he pulled out a knife "I'm gonna kill you for what you did to Patch" he said.

Hazel turned to you and Five and put his hand out, trying to say something, but Diego lunged forwards, swinging his knife at Hazel causing him to jumped back, to not get hit.

"Or don't. See how that goes" you said as you and Five leaned back in the chair while watching the two fighting.

"Are you gonna--" Hazel said as he jumped backwards again before he grabbed a hold on Diego's arm as he swung at him again "Come on" Hazel said.

"A drink and a show" you looked at Five "You really know how to keep a woman" you said and he smirked. 

Diego threw the knife in the air, before grabbing it and swung it at Hazel, stabbing him in the leg causing Hazel to let out a scream making you and Five to inhales sharply "That's gotta hurt" the two of you said as Hazel punched Diego in the face causing him to stumble backwards.

Hazel then took the knife out of his leg with a groan and Diego let out a yell as he jumped forwards, punching Hazel in the face making him drop the knife to the floor.

You let out a sigh as Diego kicked and punched Hazel a couple of times.

Hazel grabbed Diego and lifted him up before he squeezed him. Diego opened his mouth and leaned forwards before biting Hazel's ear, causing Hazel to let out a yell.

Five then put down his margarita down by the counter and he blinked before he appeared behind Diego, on a couch holding a glass vase before he hit Diego's head with it, knocking him out causing him to fall to the floor.

"Come on it just started to get more interesting" you sighed.

"Yeah but I draw the line at biting" Five said "Party killer" you said as Five jumped down from the couch and walked back to sit next to you again.

"Hazel, whatever you came here to say, I suggest you make it quick, before he comes round" he said.

"I left my partner, quit the Commission, came for volunteer" Hazel said "For what?" Five asked as he pick up his glass again.

"To help stop the apocalypse" Hazel said and two of you let out a chuckled as Five took a sip of his margarita. "What on earth could be so funny to you right now?" Hazel asked "Before we answer that, why do you wanna help us?" Five asked.

"Why do you want to help Five?" Hazel pointed at you "Trust me, I didn't, but he kinda drag me into this, beside I'm leaving soon" you said "I actually thought that you would be sent out to kill Five" Hazel said "Well, the Handler knows I'm done" you said.

"Well, anyway, I wanna help 'cause I have a vested interest in a doughnut shop" Hazel answered "Well, we hate to break it to you, pal, but you're a day late and a dollar short. The fact that you're here right now means, without a shadow of a doubt, that the apocalypse is over" Five said "Really? How do you know?" Hazel asked "The mark is dead. Found him this morning. You were the last known unknown left in the equation" Five said and Hazel let out a chuckled "Shit. Really?" he asked and two the nodded "Mm-hmm. And if you're out, then Hellrider ain't riding" Five said, putting his glass down on the counter.

"Oh" Hazel said and breath deeply "All right" he said before he sat down next to Five, grabbing the blender and took a sip of the margarita.

"I need to go to the bathroom" you said before getting up and left.

Five's eyes follow you until you were out of sight.

"She still care for you" Five looked back at Hazel "Those years was very painful for her, she closed herself out from anyone when you left" Hazel said "I also regret it" Five sighed.    

"So now what?" Hazel asked "You know, to be honest, I don't know. I've been chasing this thing for so long, I...I never really thought about the day after" Five said, looking at Hazel before he let out a chuckled "I don't know" he said before he looked at Hazel "What about you?" he asked "I'm done with all this madness. Time to start over. You should do the same" Hazel said "That's easier said than done" Five said.

"It doesn't have to be hard. I mean, think about it like this. If you never time traveled, if you never got caught up with the Handler, what would have happened?" Hazel asked and Five took a quick look at Diego that was still passed out on the floor before he looked back at Hazel. "I guess I would have grown up to be an emotionally stunted man-child like everybody else around here" he said and Hazel chuckled softly.

"Well, there you go. Now you can grow up" he said before smiling.

"No I mean it?" he asked "Well, I can't actually not imagine meeting Y/n and not have married her you know" Five said "You still love her, right?" Hazel looked at Five who look at him.

"I do" he nodded "I'm so sorry for what happen to the two of you. You were so happy, the perfect example of a happy family and true love, I'm sorry for what happen to Sam, he was such a sweet and kind boy. And we actually all thought you were going get through it" Hazel said "Yeah, but that just how life is sometimes" Five sighed "This is reality, not a fantasy, and sometimes you can't get your happy ending" he said.   

"Do you regret?" Five looked at him "Not fighting more for Y/n. For letting her go?" he asked.

Five thought for a moment before nodding "I do, more than anything" he said "Then tell her" Hazel said "She hates me. She rather stab herself than be with me again" Five scoff "I doubt that" Hazel looked at him.

"If she didn't care about you, she wouldn't be here" Five looked at him. 

"Good luck" he patted Five on the shoulder before getting up.  

"Hazel" Five said, turning around to look at him "One more thing before you go" he said "Shoot" Hazel said "Which one of you was the trigger man for Detective Patch?" Five asked "Trigger woman" Hazel said and Five let out a sigh "Huh. That's too bad. That gun could have cleared my brother's name" he said and Hazel grabbed two pistols out of the back of his jacket "Well, today's your lucky day, amigo" he said, showing the two pistols before putting them on the counter "Take 'em both" he said and sighed "I'm done with this life" he said before leaving.

"Bye Y/n" Hazel said as he walk past you "Bye Hazel" you said as he left while you enter the living room.

Diego let out a groan as he regained consciousness and he grunted as he lifted his head up from the floor "Shit" he said with a sigh before putting his hand on the back of his head as he looked at you and Five that was sitting by the bar.

"Good morning sunshine, slept well?" you tilted your head with a smile.    

"Good, you're up. Ready for a drink now?" Five asked and Diego's eyes widened before he jumped onto his feet, looking around to see if he could to spot Hazel "Where is he?" he asked "We let him go" Five said "You what?" Diego asked as he took some steps towards him.

"Now that the apocalypse is over, it's time for the fighting to stop" Five said but Diego bent down, grabbing his knife off the floor "Hey, he didn't kill Patch. His partner Cha-Cha did" Five said "So what? They were both there that night" Diego said "This half of the partnership gave us both of their guns. Which will clear you, because the ballistics will match Patch's crime scene.  Hazel came here for a way out. He wanted a fresh start. And he happened to have in his possession the one thing that could do our family a little good. So it's time to move on" Five said "Not a chance" Diego said.

"Suit yourself" you said as you took a sip of your drink.

"I am curious. Your girlfriend, Patch. What did you like about her?" Five asked "A lot of things. Cute butt. Nice legs" Diego answered "Anything a little more profound than that?" Five asked "She believe in people. No matter how much shit and filth she saw on the streets. She always saw the good inside" Diego said "Well, I'm sure she'll be proud to know that you're killing Hazel and Cha-Cha as a way to honor her memory" Five said.

"Don't think you're so different" Diego muttered, voice low and sharp "You and I both know if Y/n were in Patch's place, you'd burn the whole town down for her" he said.

Five scoff "You are thinking too small. If someone tried to lay a finger on her, I wouldn't stop at a town. I'd burn the entire world to the ground" he said and Diego scoff before leaving. 

"Well, since it's over, can you give me that briefcase" you said and Five let out a sigh before blinking away.

Not even a minute later, he appeared in front of you with the black briefcase in his hands.

"Here you go" he handed you the briefcase "Thank you" you smiled as you grab it.

"Where are you gonna go?" he asked "I don't want to go back to the house, but there is some stuff I need to get, and since I have seeing the stuff I want to see I think I will travel to Dallas Texas in the 60' since that is actually the only place I have not being yet. I think I will settle down there" you said.

"What the 60'?" Five asked "I always wanted to live there for some time" you said.

"What about The Commission, you know that they----" "I will contact them. You told me what happen to The Handler and with her out of the picture, I think I can made a deal with them. They will allow me to travel to where I want as long as I don't mess up anything, they can't hurt me. And I know that they respect me. Beside I will go to them first and tell them that I will settle down in Dallas Texas in the 60'. So..." you looked down at your feet.

"Y/n" you looked back up at Five "I just want to say..." you nodded.

But it was like he couldn't tell you. He chicken out "I just want to say...." he let out a sigh.

"Thank you for helping me. I know that you could just have said 'fuck off', but you didn't, so thank you" he said "You're welcome. And if you need my help again" he smiled. 

"Then don't" you shook your head before you both chuckled.

Five was still in love with you, he never stop loving you. Even so it was so painful for him to sign the divorce papers, he did it to make you happy, even so you were not happy with him.

"Goodbye Five Hargreeves" you said "Goodbye Y/n Hudson" you smiled to each other and you nodded before turning around.

"Thank you for dragging me into this mess, dickhead" you said sarcastically "You're welcome bitch" he said and you clicked the briefcase open causing it to make a charging noise.

Blue electricity flew around you, touching you before the blue light from the briefcase got bigger.

A portal appeared above you quickly and you were pulled into the portal before it closed and you disappeared in a blue light.

When you disappeared in the blue light Five let out a sigh. 

"You just made the biggest mistake of your life" a voice said and Five turned around to see Klaus.

"What?" he asked "You should have ask her to stay or told her how you feel" Klaus said "I don't still love her" Five hissed. 

"Yeah you do, and you can't keep hiding it" Klaus said "You are wrong" Five pointed his finger at him.

"Stop denying it" Klaus push Five's finger away "That gets you nowhere" he said "I don't love her, in matter of fact, I'm happy without her" Five said and Klaus laughed "Not what you told me a few days ago" he said before he bend down so he was in eye level with Five.

"Look me in the eye and tell me that you don't love her anymore, that all your feelings for her are gone" he said "Screw you" Five hissed as he turned around "I knew it" Klaus smiled.

"What does it matter. She is gone, okay" Five snapped as he turned to look at Klaus "She is only gone 'cause you were too scared to tell her" Klaus said "I'm not scared" Five snapped "Yeah you are" Klaus smiled.      

"You shouldn't have let her go, dude" he turned around before leaving.

Five let out a sigh before he lifted something up from his pocket and he opened his right palm to reveal his black wedding ring.

"Why did I let her go?" 

A/N: This was the end end of act one.
