Chapter 5
Jimin stood in the kitchen, making pancakes, but his mind was clouded with thoughts of Jungkook’s case. Memories of a chaotic day from their high school graduation surfaced in his mind.
Jungkook, the royal prince, was the top student at school, followed by Jimin in second place and Taehyung in third. Jungkook always acted as though he owned the world.
That morning, Jungkook arrived in his car with a driver, while Jimin parked his bike in the school’s lot. Jimin, as usual, waited for Taehyung to arrive. He hated school days like this, but as a second-ranked student, he couldn’t afford to skip classes and risk his grades.
Jimin kept to himself, scrolling through his phone, ignoring Jungkook who stood near his bike. Suddenly, Jungkook kicked Jimin’s bike mockingly.
"Second-ranker, why are you even here? Weren't you grounded by your parents for that mess you caused last month?"
Jimin gritted his teeth but stayed silent. He knew that ignoring Jungkook was the best way to avoid further problems. His two-week suspension from school was still fresh in his mind—another consequence of Jungkook’s bullying. Jungkook had orchestrated a fight with junior students, and when the principal (who was Jungkook’s uncle) arrived, Jungkook and his group pushed Jimin into the fray before running off. Jimin had tried to help one of the injured students by picking up a rod that had fallen nearby, but the principal caught him in that moment, and he was falsely accused of being the culprit.
Remembering the unjust days of his suspension, Jimin’s anger boiled over. He balled his fist and punched Jungkook square in the face.
"Mind your own business."
Jungkook smirked, wiping the blood from his lip.
It was graduation day, and Jimin couldn’t believe he had just hit Jungkook. Panic seized him, and he fled to the back of the school. But what he saw there stopped him in his tracks. The junior boy that Jungkook had bullied relentlessly was lying on the ground, dead, blood still dripping from his head.
Jimin’s body froze in horror. He couldn’t move or even call for help. Taehyung arrived moments later, and students began to gather around the gruesome scene. Taehyung, seeing Jimin’s shock, immediately knew that Jungkook was behind this but couldn’t believe Jimin had been caught in another of Jungkook’s traps.
Shaking his head, Jimin took a bite of the pancakes he had just made. His hands trembled as he struggled with the traumatic memory. The suffocating feeling of being a victim to Jungkook's bullying and manipulation gripped him. Jimin placed a hand on his chest, breathing heavily. He reached for his inhaler, taking quick puffs as his breathing became more labored. Desperate, he texted Taehyung to come over.
Jimin slumped into a chair, his breathing still erratic. The horrific image of the murdered boy flashed through his mind, driving him to the brink of a panic attack. Just then, the door to his penthouse flew open, and Taehyung rushed in, finding Jimin struggling to catch his breath.
“Jimin, are you okay? Here, take this,” Taehyung said, handing him medicine.
Jimin gulped it down, and Taehyung gently patted his back, trying to ease his friend’s tension.
“I’ve told you before—don’t dwell on the past. It’s over, Jimin. Now it’s time to focus on the present. We have to get revenge and protect Y/n from him,” Taehyung said, sighing as he saw Jimin finally start to calm down.
Jimin, now more stable, fell asleep on the couch. Taehyung's phone buzzed with a text from Jin.
“I’m home,” Jin wrote.
“You can come to the penthouse. Jimin’s sick,” Taehyung replied.
“Oh my god, I’ll be there in a minute,” Jin texted back.
Taehyung glanced at Jimin, relieved to see him resting peacefully. He knew how much Jimin had suffered because of Jungkook—the devilish heir of wealth and power. An hour passed, and Taehyung decided to take the rest of the day off.
The door to the penthouse burst open as Jin hurried inside, relief flooding his face when he saw Jimin awake.
“Jin, you made it! How was your flight?” Jimin asked, rushing to hug him.
“Aww, my ears, Mochi. Calm down, I’m here,” Jin teased, laughing as Jimin grinned.
Their lighthearted banter filled the room, but Jimin's concern about Jin's sister, Y/n, still lingered. He knew the conversation about her would soon turn serious.
Jin sat down on the couch next to Jimin and Taehyung.
“You both know why I’m here, right?” Jin asked, his tone more somber.
“Yes, we know,” Jimin and Taehyung replied.
“And you know we have to do everything we can to save my sister,” Jin continued, his eyes filled with determination.
“We will,” Jimin said with a confident smirk. “And we’ve got a solid plan in place.”
Taehyung, noticing Jimin’s smirk, took a sip of his wine and grinned.
“Our very own divorce attorney, Park Jimin, is back in action,” Taehyung said, a sly smile spreading across his face as both men exchanged knowing looks.
