Kuroo (Haikyuu) - Happy
Happy Birthday Kuroo! Have some fluff on your special day!
I watched as the soft, white snowflakes drifted aimlessly to the ground, the unusually cold weather seeming determined to cover the park in a blanket of white. Skeletal looking trees had their long gone leaves replaced with dangling icicles and soft puffs of snow. The light from the nearby lamp posts shimmered upon the frozen crystals of water, creating an almost magical feel in the air.
Tired of waiting, I finally stood from the bench and wandered to the nearby pond with its thin frozen surface, kneeling down to poke at the edges with my reddened fingers. Feeling the rough ice gradually grow smooth the further towards the center it got, I leaned forward a tiny bit, gasping when I lost my balance and started falling forward.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around me from behind, saving me from the ice bath I had seemed destined for just a moment ago. Turning my head, I saw a familiar head of hair partially covering one of the dark feline eyes I spent so much time staring into.
"What the heck do you think you're doing, (y/n)?! What would you have done if I hadn't gotten here in time to catch you?!" I could feel his arms trembling as he turned me around and held me against his chest, his heart racing.
"I'm sorry, Tetsuro-kun. I got bored waiting and everything looked so pretty with the snow and ice, I just wanted to look around and see if the ice felt as much like glass as it looked. I didn't mean to worry you... Forgive me?" Looking down guiltily, I let out a deep sigh, my breath creating a small cloud from the temperature difference.
"Just be more careful next time, okay? I don't want to have to be bringing you warm soup in bed all week because you got sick. Speaking of which, here. Put these on before you really do get sick." Pulling away, he pulled a pair of warm looking gloves from his pocket, the receipt falling to the ground as he grabbed my hands and tried to fit my fingers into them.
Smiling gently at him, I grabbed the gloves and slipped my partially numb hands inside, enjoying the warmth they brought me. Leaning over to pick up the receipt, I handed it to him with a small sigh.
"Tetsuro-kun, are you really that upset with the idea of taking care of me if I get sick? You know I can take care of myself, sick or not. Well, when I'm not falling into frozen ponds, at least." I glanced up into his eyes before looking back down, my fingers tugging at the gloves as I shuffled my feet.
"That's not it, (y/n). I don't want you getting sick because if you're stuck in bed, it means I can't take you out on dates anymore until you get better. Now here, drink this and get yourself warmed up. Then we can go and look at all the snow and ice you want, from the safety of my arms of course!" Handing me a steaming cup of hot chocolate, Kuroo turned his face to the side, cheeks slightly redder than they had been just moments before.
"Awe, Tetsu-bae... You're so sweet!" Standing up on my tip-toes, I pressed my lips against his warm cheek before stepping back to sip at the sweet drink in my hands, a grin on my lips.
The sound of laughter and cheers from nearby had us both looking towards the nearby entrance, a group of mostly noisy teens heading our way. Only one of them was quiet as he looked back down at his game device, an air of solitude surrounding him, even amongst the rowdy group he was with.
"Kozume-kun, how is it you can play those games while walking? Every time I so much as walk around while reading, I always trip on something or run into someone! Teach me!" Before I could even take the first step towards the youth, a gloved hand grabbed my arm and pulled me back into a firm chest.
"(y/n)-chan, don't go asking other guys to do stuff with you. Besides, I don't think it would matter how much Kenma tried to teach you, you can't unlearn being clumsy. I'd be happy to kiss any bumps and bruises you get, so just give me your attention instead. I'll teach you something better than anything any of these guys could." Nuzzling his face into my hair, Kuroo's voice whispered huskily into my ear.
"L-like what?" I stuttered, embarrassed by his behavior in front of his teammates, feeling my face heat up as some of them began chuckling at us before walking off into the park.
"How to be happy." With those words, he turned me around and leaned down for a kiss, soft and warm against my lips.
It was the truest words he'd ever spoken, because as long as I was with him I was as happy as a girl could wish to be.
