Introduction
Long ago, the world was born into Chaos. Darkness ruled over the newborn Earth in the form of wild beasts and great plagues. After 50 years of darkness, a teardrop of light fell to earth, bringing The Divine to the earth. With their great power, they pushed back the chaos and established a place for humanity to live without fear of attacks from the dark beasts.
This new land, named Haven, was ruled by The Divine, and each of the seven were given claim over one aspect of their new society.
The first of The Divine was Shad, the Defender. Shad is often described as a dark entity, wearing a full set of armor and bearing a shield. His eyes were the hottest flame, and the shoulders of his armor bore skull designs with eyes like his. He was in charge of maintaining security in their territory, and was named the commander of their military. This decision resulted in a strict lifestyle for the people under their rule, constantly being checked for contraband items and asked questions about their ideologies. Punishments for even the smallest crimes were harsh, though the Divine ruled that his methods were extreme before Shad did too much damage. Shad respected their judgement, remaining loyal to the Divine, though his dedication to the defense of his homeland never faltered.
The second of The Divine was Malum, the Purifier. He was one of the only Divine that looked less human than the others, standing a head taller than the second-tallest Divine, with crimson and pitch-black skin, hair as dark as night, and deep violet eyes that seemed to glow. Malum was given the task of healing the people and the land that The Divine protected. He did this by becoming one of the most powerful masters of the powers that The Divine possess, repairing what was broken and purifying residual darkness from the people. His trident became a symbol of healing, but his other abilities became the symbol of vengeance. Malum, while mastering the magics of The Divine, discovered that he could turn into a dragon, which he used to punish those who would destroy what he had healed.
The third of The Divine was Drax, the Destroyer. Drax had dark skin and darker hair, with clothes that were the color of the beasts’ blood and eyes that were the color of fire. He was given the responsibility of cleansing the Earth of the chaos it was born into. This allowed for Haven to expand and claim new resources, which Drax was praised for. His twin short swords are a symbol of progress and a symbol of The Divine.
Arex, Drax’s brother, was the fourth of The Divine. He looked much like his brother, save for eyes that looked like the sea rather than fire. Arex managed the economy of Haven. His talents with trade and finance allowed for the management of resources, choosing wisely where to contribute the most. Arex never allowed for much celebration of his achievements, preferring to remain humble in the face of financial balance. His weapon, a mace, served as a reminder to those who would try to profit on the system for themselves that his form of justice would be swift and merciless upon their kneecaps.
The fifth of The Divine was Louis, the Just. He is described as a ghost-like man with the eyes of a blind man and the hand of a father. Many come to him for his service as a judge and his advice as one who has lived for many years and lived many lives. He is the Divine that is best known for making the most informed decisions, preferring to take his time studying and considering every factor rather than making immediate gut-reaction decisions. He rarely fights, but the chains he wields in battle serve as an announcement that his decision has been made, and his foe deserves the beat-down they receive.
The sixth was Renae, the historian. Renae was tasked with keeping records of all that happened in Haven. Her position as the chronicler of Haven allowed her to accumulate knowledge about everything that happened in Haven, from the great decisions of The Divine to the minuscule notions of one person. There were very few times where she would work on anything else. But there was something she kept hidden from her fellow warriors: A baby. Unborn, but barely developed. If word got out, Mayura herself would take action. The Divine were not supposed to have children with mortals, or anyone for that matter. Her rule was: Immortal people were not to get too attached to mortals and have a serious relationship with them. And having a serious relationship with a mortal will most likely keep said warrior from their duties.
The final Divine was Mayura, the Matrin. She was the one that led the Divine Warriors, coordinating their efforts and giving the final decision. Mayura was often depicted wearing a simple, white gown, with golden trimming, and she often wore her dark blue cloak, with the hood always covering her head, making it hard to see the top half of her face. She had the fairest of skin, long dark hair she kept down, and sky-blue eyes. She rarely got involved with the other Divine’s duties, allowing them a large degree of autonomy. She cared about every living thing on Earth, the people, the animals, and nature itself. She watched over everything that happens in Haven and pestered the other Divine if she ever noticed something wrong.
Once a week, Mayura would gather the other Divine Warriors to discuss any issues and problems going on. Usually, any problems that were brought up would be resolved in a day or so, though cases exist that suggest that greater issues have taken up to 2 weeks to resolve. This kept the other Divine in check, ensuring that they were doing what they were supposed to be doing.
Haven operated in harmonious peace, until the day He Who Walks Among Shadows arrived. He brought gifts to The Divine, promising power and wealth in exchange for their loyalty.
This is the moment Haven’s fate was decided.
