Chapter 9: The wolves
I was sitting in front of my laptop staring at the screen trying to work, I needed to do something to divert my mind. After coming back to the motel I had to beg Isaac to leave my room, just so I could spend some time alone.
I couldn't find a better place to hide from them. This place is secluded and no one comes around here often. They wouldn't know I am here, but now this shadowy thing was making me more scared. If I go back to the city they will find me, if I stay here what if the shadow finds me first.
I groaned, "wherever I go, problems are always waiting for me."
A knock interrupted me, "It's Isaac."
A smiled crept itself on my face and I opened the door looking at
a grumpy-looking Isaac, "hi," he murmured and flopped onto my bed.
I chuckled and sat beside him, "what happened to you?"
"I am tired," he pouted while holding my hand.
"Aww, do you want a massage?"
His eyes twinkled at my remark and he nodded, "you don't even have to ask, baby girl"
"Then go to a spa" I replied.
"Why? I have you why would I need to go to a spa?" He smirked.
I fake gasped, "why would I give you a massage?"
He came near my face and whispered in my ear making me shiver, "you know why."
I smacked his head looking at him with wide eyes, "so creepy, oh my God."
Isaac laughed while I also lay down beside Isaac and the room fell into a comforting silence. I closed my eyes enjoying this silence with Isaac beside me. It felt good knowing there would be someone when I will open my eyes leaving the darkness.
Suddenly, Isaac's phone rang. I looked at his sleeping form and smiled while getting up and looking at his phone. I saw the name of Liza on the screen. She was calling him.
I hesitated at first but picked up the call before I could say anything, the phone blasted with Liza's voice, "Isaac, you come back to the packhouse with Isabelle, or I will come to that filthy motel."
"Um hi Liza, it's Isabelle. Isaac is sleeping." I awkwardly said.
"Oh, shit," Liza cursed under her breath, "wait is he sleeping with you?"
My eyes got wide, "no-no he's not sleeping with- he's just he was tired so he dozed off in my room."
Liza giggled, "oh I thought - anyway how are you, Isabelle?"
"I am good, how are you and also Katie?"
"We all are good, um when Isaac wakes up, will you please ask him to call me?"
"Yes, sure," I cut the call and put the phone down, and saw Isaac who was sleeping peacefully. I sat beside him and touched his cheekbone and smiled.
"I am so lucky to have you, Isaac."

Isaac woke up some hours ago and left because he remembered he had something to do. I also decided to complete my work, I was too focused on my laptop's screen when I heard a growling voice it startled me, and I dropped the mug I was holding.
I frowned, it was the same noise that I and Isaac both heard some days ago. My heart was beating faster, I went towards the door and locked it while looking at the door anxiously.
I could hear noises outside and I was clutching the hem of my shirt tightly. I could hear the growling more clearly. It sounded like it was coming from right behind my door. I could hear the heavy breathing.
Suddenly, the door flew open and there was a big grey dog just outside of my room growling and looking at me with its angry eyes. I screamed and threw my bedside lamp at it.
"No, no, shoo, go away," I yelled at the dog but it was growling just looking at me as if it was enjoying my fear. Beside him now there was a man who stood almost the length of the door, his neck had a mark, a claw mark.
"Who are you?" I said standing firmly.
The man laughed, "you don't need to ask that. All you need to do is come with me."
"Go away, I will never come with you," I spat.
The man growled and his eyes started changing then his face started changing and his bones started cracking, I was looking at him with wide eyes in a snap he was changed into a brown dog, but when I looked at him I knew it wasn't a dog but a wolf, a werewolf.
I screamed and tried opening my window, both of the wolves sprint near me and tried clawing and snatching my body, one of them tucked at my foot and bit on my leg. I yelled in agony, but I kicked its face, and I jumped out of the window and limped towards the motel.
I saw grace's diner and I ran towards it. I entered the diner frantically and looked at grace who was sitting listening to some music on earphones. I hurriedly entered the cafe and locked the doors.
"Grace, there are wolves no wolfmen out there," I said while moving my hands, "they are going to kill me I don't know what is wrong with them, please help me."
Grace looked at me with wide eyes and immediately jumped in front of me and put me behind her, "call Isaac."
I immediately took out my phone and dialed Isaac's number.
"Hello?"
"Isaac you need to get some animal control people here, there are wolves, and even some people they are just-," I practicality yelled, "I don't know what is happening, please-" before I could say anything the wolfman barged in the diner and I dropped my phone.
"Ah, grace, haven't seen you in a while," he clicked his tongue, "I thought you die."
I frowned looking at grace, "you know him?"
Grace looked at me apologetically and whispered, "when I give you a signal, run and don't look back."
Grace looked at the man, "Wayne, why are you here?"
"Well, I am here to kill the little mate of the alpha who saved you long ago," he laughed wickedly making my body shiver.
Grace whispered to me, "run from the back door."
"But I can't leave you here, I can't let you be in harm," I whispered back and she looked at me, "I owe Isaac my life, I can't let anyone harm you."
She looked at the man, "I will see how you can do it when she's with me," her body started changing, and in the blink of an eye, there was a brown wolf instead of Grace, my eyes got wide and I couldn't move for a second but a snarl from the man pulled me from my trance.
"Oh Lord, save me," I ran from the room and hurriedly open the back door and ran into the forest, "every person here is a freak."
I couldn't walk properly because of the wound on my leg, which was bleeding, but even if I've wanted to stop I couldn't because of how fast my heart was beating, I could hear the screaming, growing, and tearing and breaking of bones.
I heard a growl behind me, and I saw that another grey wolf running towards me, I screamed and ran faster than ever. I was crossing trees one by one while picking up and throwing rocks at the wolf which was near me growling, and ready to tear me apart.
Along with running, I tore a piece of my shirt and wrapped it around the wound making the blood stopped dripping and aiding me in running faster. I picked up a big rock and threw it at the wolf, hitting its head making it angrier, "oh shit."
Before it could come near me, the grove ended and some men were guarding what looked like a border, did I cross the country?
When one man saw me he roared, "who are you?"
"Uh, I-there is a man no a wolf is chasing me, please good sir help me," I pleaded.
The man signaled another man to check, but there was no wolf, no man present, and he yelled, "tell me who are you? Are you a rogue? Or are you here from a rival pack to spy on us?"
I looked at him in confusion, "I don't know what are you talking about."
"We should tell this to alpha." He said to other people behind him.
Another man came beside him, "the alpha isn't present right now, throw her in the dungeons for the time being."
Tears started pooling in my eyes, "please, let me go. I don't know I might have come the wrong way, please I will go back."
Two men immediately caught both of my hands and took me to a dark place which they called a dungeon and threw me in a cell.
"What have I done," I screamed, "please, let me go."
