Chapter 31: We are doomed
I was looking out of my window at the moon, it was gleaming in the sky carving everything in the Moonlight, the stars were twinkling lustrously while the sky was coated in a dark midnight blue.
I sighed and smiled, even if I wasn't with Isaac, but we were under the same sky, the same moon was shimmering on us while the same stars danced around the sky. Being away from Isaac made me realize how important he was for me, and how much I yearned to go back in his arms.
But remembering what he did to me made my heart shattered all over, he couldn't trust me even when I was pleading in front of him, all he did was put his whole faith on that note and accused me of betraying him.
I groaned and shook my head to stop myself from thinking about it. I heard a sizzling noise and looked around my room, I couldn't see anything but then my eyes fell to the floor. There was a dissertation, some kind of spell was being written on the floor, my eyes got wide and I looked at it with a horrified face.
Suddenly, a portal was opened and I felt like I was being pulled into it, I cried out and grabbed the window, tightly.
Darlene came rushing, "why are you-" she stopped mid-sentence and called Nate who rushed towards my room, they both looked confused. Nate came towards me and held me, tightly.
"What the fuck did you do?" Nate yelled at me, Darlene came beside him and held Nate, tightly.
"I don't know what is happening, I didn't do anything," I screamed.
"It's some kind of portal, someone has made a portal," Darlene yelled back, "gran isn't even here, I don't even know what to do."
Nate groaned and started mumbling something, but before he could finish we all were thrown into the portal.
I groaned and got up, I was in front of the door while Nate and Darlene were nowhere to be present. I hesitantly got up and opened the door which looked like a basement.
The door of the basement opened with a creaking noise making me cringe. because of the lack of light, the basement was dark and gloomy. I put my palm up in the air and imagined a globe of light on my hand and with a pop sound. It appeared on my palm, my fists bumped the air on my accomplishment.
"I think, I am starting to like your witch side" Talia sighed making me chuckle.
There was old and broken furniture sitting in the room, "Something is not right" I mumbled.
"We should leave" Talia whispered as someone can hear her.
"No, I need to find Nate and Darlene" I responded and started looking for them. Suddenly, my eyes caught a broken rusted door in the corner.
"Please Belle, we should leave" Talia was getting restless, but I ignored her and touched the rusted red-colored door.
"Belle, are you there?" a voice came from behind and my heart started beating faster.
"Yes, yes where are you?" I turned and faced a furious Nate and Darlene whose forehead was oozing with blood.
"What is this place? let's get out of here" He roared in anger.
"I don't know but we need to find why we were pulled here," I whispered while looking around.
"It's spooky, belle, we need to go," Darlene whispered holding Nate's arm, tightly.
"No, I will not go without knowing, what is-" Nate stopped me mid-sentence and pull my hand towards him.
"Nate, please, listen to me. Try to understand" I pleaded while trying to remove his grip.
"No, you try to understand," he stopped now looking at me.
"It's a passageway to someplace," I said while pointing at the door, anxiously, Nate glanced at me then glanced at the door "Nate, please come with me. We have to look at what is in there" I continued.
Nate groaned, "fine, you both stay behind me."
I grinned while Darlene was holding me tightly, we both followed him.
Nate turned the doorknob and the door creaked open, there was a dark bumpy passage that went straight to a big room. The room was mildly lighted because of the ball of light in my hand, but it got flashed with a bright light making me startled. I looked at Darlene who had her hand over a switch.
"We live in 21st-century, Belle. Turn your light globe off" Darlene rolled her eyes.
I started looking at my surroundings, the room was big and had ancient bottles of potions and spices, but what got me stuck was multiple large silver cells.
"What the hell is this place?" Darlene murmured behind me.
"Why are there so many cages?" I questioned.
"It's a basement, it's not just a basement," Nate yelled, "this is Athena's place."
My eyes got wide, "did she call us?"
"Oh my god, look there is someone in one cell" Darlene yelled frantically while pointing at the last cell.
I ran towards it and a woman was laying down, who was covered in blood and dirt.
"Hello? Can you hear me?" I asked in a shaky voice.
"Please don't be dead" Nate muttered under his breathe.
I touched the woman's head with a wooden stick "hello are you awake?" I cried out, suddenly, I heard a whimper and the woman started getting up from the floor.
"Thank goodness, she is not dead" Darlene sighed in relief.
"Um, who are you?" I asked hoping she would answer, but when she looked at me. I felt the ground slipping under my feet.
"Mom?" I whispered.
"Mo-what" Nate said openmouthed.
"Mom, she is my mom. Oh God, why are you here?"
"What is she doing here?" Darlene questioned.
"How would I know, I just saw her after four years," I glanced at her.
My mother's weak voice cracked "Billy, is that you?"
"Yes, it's me, yes" I looked at her, anxiously.
"Thank God, it worked" She croaked.
"Did you call me here?" I questioned.
She nodded, "I had to, I am sorry. I used all of my strength and magic left inside me to call you here."
"She's master of calling," Darlene gasped.
"Why did you call me here? You weren't even there for me when dead died and now you want me to help you?"
"I don't want you to help me," she said in a low voice.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I was enchanted for years, I couldn't do anything. I had to break myself from the trance which resulted in me losing my magic," she looked at me with tears in her eyes, "I never abandoned you, I saw everything, I felt everything but I couldn't do anything to help you. The day I called you was the day I got freed, but when I saw you living with your mate I was relieved that you would be safe but you left him."
I nodded, but before I could say anything she continued, "I know why you left him, I met him that's why I called you."
"You met Isaac?" I yelled.
She nodded, "I went there to meet you but you weren't there," she said while closing her eyes, "he was trying to find you, which resulted in him getting attacked by the rogues. He and his pack is suffering, Billy, help him."
My heart started beating faster, I almost fell but Darlene held me looking at me with concern.
"Who locked you up here?" Nate asked.
"Athena."
"Why would she do that?"
"Because I am more valuable being alive than dead" she whispered and looked at Nate and Darlene, "who are you?"
"They are my friends," I replied before they could reply.
"My mother solely loves power" she whispered, "she is going to destruct Isaac's pack apart."
"I have to go and save him," I whispered and started pacing around, "but how can I do that."
Darlene cut me off by saying "Belle, let's take her out first then you can talk"
"Yeah you are right" I nodded.
"No, you can't do-" my mother's voice got cut off by a thundering noise that alarmed us.
"You shouldn't have touched the bars, it's bewitched" my mother cried, and I looked at Darlene who was holding the lock of the cell with wide eyes.
Nate cursed under his breath, "shit, we are doomed."
