Chapter 20: Faith
It's been a day since Isaac locked me in this room, all I did was cry while lying down on the cold floor. I needed to do something, I got up and saw furniture scattered around the darkroom. I couldn't even see properly if there wasn't the window from which moonlight was coming.
The door opened which interrupted me, I hesitantly looked up and saw Aiden standing there with an apologetic face holding a tray of food. I looked at him and turned around.
Aiden carefully placed the tray in front of me, "you need to eat."
I didn't respond and just stared at him.
Aiden whispered, "I don't know if I should tell you this or not but there is one thing I wanted to tell you."
He continued, "in the note, there was something written about our parents. You should know why this is too crucial for us."
I looked at him and nodded giving him a signal to continue.
"Our pack, our parents were too kind. They used to take refugees and also gave rogue wolves a chance to live in our pack. This one time, there was a young boy who came looking for refuge but our beta denied him because he was the son of a dead king of rogue wolves.
Isaac gave him refuge, even when everyone asked him not to, but he thought about giving him a chance just like our parents did. Our parents also accepted him, he became Isaac's friend but what Isaac didn't know was about him plotting against our pack.
His father, the rogue king was still alive and he sent his son to spy on our pack, and they attacked us when we least expected. In that attack, our parents got killed, Isaac saw the murder of our parents with his own eyes. The boy he had saved stabbed him, he nearly died and also lost his parents on the same day because he trusted a spy. That's the reason, he reacted this way after reading that note."
My tears started falling and I tried forming words, "I am so sorry." I knew what it felt like when someone betrayed your trust, I could feel the pain Isaac felt and it made my heart shatter more.
Aiden looked at me, "are you a spy?"
"I am not a spy, Aiden," I shook my head while wiping my tears, "I trusted Isaac, and that's why I came here. The second note is a lie, I didn't know those two attacks were connected to my past."
"I hope you're not lying, Isabelle," he looked at me with a serious expression, "because if you are then I am sorry but I will kill you with my own hands."
I sighed, "I can't do anything to make you all trust me, Isaac already hates me. I need to go from here," I looked at him pleadingly, "please, help me."
Aiden looked at me apologetically, "I can't let you run, but I will explain everything to Isaac. I know he will believe me."
I started crying hysterically when Aiden left the room. I never thought I would even cry about something like this in my life. I knew running from here meant going back into the trap of Carl while staying here meant I had to stay with Isaac's hatred.
Suddenly, there was a popping noise and a guy was standing in front of me looking for something. He had wide and broad shoulders, he had sluggish brown hair with sharp blue eyes which were shining in the moonlight.
He was handsome but not as handsome as Isaac remembering Isaac made my heart sore. I was so lost in my thoughts that I did not notice him coming in front of me with folded arms.
"Hello, miss," he looked at me and frowned, "you look exhausted."
I furrowed my eyebrows, "how did you come in here?"
He smirked, "magic."
I deadpanned, "okay, Dr strange."
He illuminated a candle that was placed on a table, "I see, you still have your sense of humor."
I groaned, "listen, mister witch, whatever you want, get out of this room. I am not in a mood to talk."
He rolled his eyes, "I am here to help you."
I frowned, "help me? Why?"
"Because you need help," He exasperated.
"But why do you want to help me?"
"Because not everyone is a jerk face like your mate who believes everything written on a note," he whispered yelled.
My eyes got wide, "you know about the note?"
He folded his arms, "that is the reason, I am here."
"How do you know about that?"
He sighed, "I know everything about you, Rosabelle."
"How do you know my name?" I gasped, " are you that red-eyed, Voldemort voice alike demon?" I looked at him with horror.
"What?" he furrowed his eyebrows, "I am not a demon."
"Are you a spy for him?" I whispered.
"No, Rosabelle. I am not a Voldemort, neither a spy" he grumbled.
"Then who are you?" I asked him with a shaky voice.
"Oh, yeah. Darlene taught me how to do that," he said while straightening his back, "Hello, how are you? I am Nathaniel"
"What do you want me to do with that information?" I shouted getting frustrated, now.
"Look, your mother, she wanted to keep you safe so she did her witchy stuff and kept you protected" he stated in a serious tone, "but now your mother isn't here, and your mate doesn't want to protect you so I had to come here to take you."
"My mother was a witch?" I asked him with my mouth wide open.
He looked at me with an annoyed expression, "yes, and so are you."
"But I am not a witch, I can't do things like that?"
He disappointingly shook his head, "that you have to learn, so will you please come with me before your wild mate comes here?"
I shook my head, "what if you're a conman? And you take hostages like this?" I said while folding my arms.
He furrowed his eyebrows, "oh my God, I should have known how stubborn you are."
I glared at him, "I can't go to another hell hole just like that."
He sighed, "okay, so your mother had a friend, now that friend wants to help you because you're in grave danger."
"I am in danger?"
"Those two attacks, and now this notes isn't a coincidence, Rosabelle. Someone wanted Isaac to doubt you just so they could take advantage of that," he said while looking at me with a serious expression.
"Can't you tell Isaac everything?" I looked at him pleadingly.
"You still want to stay here after what he has done to you?" He practically yelled.
I looked at him with a sad expression, I knew Isaac had said so many things but I just couldn't bear the thought of him hating me.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, "I don't know you. You could be a murderer," I shrugged.
"Oh my god, for god's sake. I am not a murderer, Rosabelle," he said while massaging his temples.
"You can be a murderer" I looked at him with annoyance.
"No, I can't, look at me. Do I look like a murderer to you?" he yelled.
I folded my arms on my chest glaring at him "you could be a person who just kidnaps people by portraying yourself as a trustworthy and innocent person and then leave them to dangerous people for money"
"You are unbelievable" he grunted.
"Prove me you are not harmful then I will go with you," I looked at him with a challenging face.
"How am I suppose to do that?" he looked at me in frustration
"I don't know," I shrugged.
"Are you for real?" He was shooting daggers at me with his eyes.
"I don't know? " I deadpanned.
"Fine" he huffed and closed his eyes while mumbling something. He conjured a dagger in his hand.
"Here, take it but give this back to me, when we get home," he put that dagger in front of him holding it, tightly, when I tried to grab it he did not leave the dagger from his tight hold.
"Oh god, leave it" I tried to grab it from his hold, but he was not ready to hand it to me.
"This is not a toy if you even touch something with it. It will turn into dust," he said while putting out the dagger and slightly touching one of the broken lamps with it.
There was a sizzling noise and the lamp instantly turned into dust making me gasped.
"That's scary, "I took the dagger out of his hand and admired the beauty of the dagger it was black with a silver lining on it.
"Stop looking at the dagger, lustfully," Nathaniel said, angrily.
"Why would I do that?" I yelled, he ignored me.
"Come here, first. I would have to hide your scent, or else your mate is gonna come sniffing you like a dog" he mocked and I glared at him.
"Isaac can find me by my scent?" I wrinkled my brows and looked at him.
"Of course, you did not know that?" he looked at me in skepticism.
"No, how would I know?" I rolled my eyes.
"Wolves have the power to find their mate with their scent, perks of mate bond" he mumbled.
"I didn't know that" I whispered, "only wolves have a mate?"
He looked at me and took a deep breath, "no, everyone does."
"Witches have mates, too?"
He nodded and whispered some incoherent words for a minute.
"Yes, now your scent is hidden."
Suddenly, I thought came to my mind, "wait here I have to do something."
Nathaniel looked at me with confusion while I tried finding what I was looking for, when I found a pen and a paper I started writing. After finishing, I folded the paper and put it on the table.
"Yeah, now I am ready," I looked at Nathaniel.
"Now, brace yourself. We are going to teleport," he announced.
"What the hell? how are we supposed to-" I couldn't even complete my whole sentence, and everything went black. My head started spinning, I couldn't see anything, but as I was going to freak out. I got my vision back, but this time I was not in the darkroom anymore, I was in front of a gigantic wooden cabin in the middle of nowhere.
