CHAPTER 7

TRIS POV ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I go in the guest bedroom and lay down and think about everything. How crazy it is that my parents are alive. Eventually I drift off into a horrible dream.

I am in a dark room and out of nowhere a lady with short, blonde hair comes up to me and places a gun in the palm of my hand.

"You know what to do." She says.

"What!" I yell.

All of a sudden, my mom, dad, Colby, Caleb, and Tobias walk towards me.

I just stare at them in shock.

"Do it." She urges.

"No!" I scream.

My parents start telling me I have to. But I won't. I just shake my head.

"If you won't do it, then we are going to punish you." She warns.

"Go ahead." I sneer.

She grins evilly.

"Marcus!" She calls.

'Oh no. What did I just do!' I think to myself.

Marcus comes out with a smirk on his face as he expertly undoes his belt . I back up away from him, but I am stuck. I had reached the wall. He runs at me with his hand ready to swing on me. I quickly dive under his open legs before he knows what happened.

"ARRRRGGGGGHH!" He yells. He pounced on top of me before I can stand up again and brings the belt down hard on the back of my head. He does this again and again, until I don't know which way is up or down.

He gets up off of me and runs to where I had dropped the gun. He picks it up and points it at me.

"Buh bye Beatrice." And with that a BANG and then nothing.

I sit straight up and realize I am screaming. I quickly look around and realize that it was all just a dream.

Tobias comes running in followed by my parents. Even in the darkness I see that their faces are contorted in fear.

"Oh my gosh, Tris honey are you okay?" Mom asks.

I just sit there paralyzed to scared to move. Afraid that at any moment, Marcus is going to jump out and hurt them and me.

I realize my dad is talking to me asking me what happened. I lift a shaking hand up and put it to my forehead where I got 'shot.'

Tobias comes over to me and kneels down next to the bed.

"Tris are you okay." He asks with urgency.

I force a nod and everyone lets out a sigh of relief.

"I j.. ju..... just had a...a night...night....mare." I say shakily.

My mom whispers something to my dad and he nods and goes downstairs, as my mom comes and sits down at the edge of the starts to massage my soldiers. Tobias takes my hand in his and creates circles into them.

I look over at my mom and she is watching me like a hawk.

"Beatrice, sweetie, you're shaking. How about you lay back down and relax."

I quickly shake my head.

"Why not."

"What if he comes again. What if--" I am cut off by Tobias.

"Who comes again? Someone came here?"

I nod, then shake my head.

"In the dream Marcus, he started whipping me because I wouldn't kill you guys and then he took a gun and shot me." I say starting to cry.

"Shhhhhhhh..... Here drink this." My mom says.

I look and see my dad came back with a mug of something.

"What is it?" I ask weakly.

My mom says hot milk, while my dad says orange juice, so I know they are lying.

"It's something that will help you sleep-- no dreams." My mom tells me.

She hands me the cup and I glance at Tobias and he nods, urging me to drink it.

I take a sip and it tastes surprisingly good. It is sweet, but not too sweet and it warms me up.

I eagerly drink more as my mom places her hand under the cup and my dad has paper towels ready for something.

Whatever they are doing I don't care. I just continue drinking.

All of a sudden I am hit by a strong wave of drowsiness. It takes all my effort to swallow the 'milk' I had in my mouth. I feel something slip out of my hand and my mom saying something to me as Tobias smiles his half smile at me. I feel the sensation as if I'm falling and then the warm fluffy cloud swallows me whole. Warmness overcomes me and I smile to myself.

My eyelids droop and I feel a pair of lips in my forehead. Then the rest of the world disappears.

TOBIAS POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I watch as my mom quickly puts her hand under the mug and my dad waits with paper towels.

Tris is drinking whatever they gave her, which seems to make them happy. I watch Tris all of a sudden slow down and she drops the mug. My mom quickly catches it saving a mess.

"Here we go." She says.

Tris looks at me and starts swaying. I smile she looks so funny. She suddenly falls backwards and her head lands on the pillow. I pull the blankets up to her chin and I see her smile. Tris closes her eyes and mom kisses her forehead as dad wipes her chin where some whatever that was, had dribbled out.

"What was that?" I whisper.

"A special concoction with a special medicine. We only use it for emergencies." Dad says.

"This was in emergency?"

"She needs sleep and she was scared. She's been through a lot Tobias." My mom says.

She starts to blab on about how I need sleep and school.

I just tune her out and climb into bed. I drift off eventually.

(Tobias pov still)

BEEP BEEP BEEP

I slam my fist down on the snooze button and groan.

I look at the time 6:30.

I roll out of bed and take a shower. I quickly put on my clothes which include black pants, a black shirt, and a leather jacket and start to walk downstairs. I pause at Tris's room. I glance and see that she is still on the same position that we left her in. I start to walk in when my dad interrupts me.

"Let her sleep, bud."

"But it's already 7. School starts at 8:15."

"It lasts for about 6 hours. We gave it to her at 1:30. She'll be up in a half an hour."

I grunt and decide to go eat something I grab a muffin, as my mom comes down dressed in her usual. A dress shirt and dress pants.

"Hi honey."

"Hi."

"Listen," she points her finger at me.

"You make sure Beatrice is safe and that YOU pay attention and get good grades."

"Okay. And btw she prefers Tris."

"Fine whatever." She says mocking me.

I roll my eyes.

Just then, my dad walks down with Tris who is blushing. I wonder what he said this time.

Mom runs at her and tackled her in a hug.

"Mom.....back" She says as the blood drains from her face.

"Mom!" I yell at her.

"Sorry, sorry!" She exclaims.

I just shake my head and watch as Tris whispers something to her obviously embarrassed.

PAGEBREAK TO LUNCH~~~~~~~~

TRIS POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I walk into lunch and the first person I see is Peter. He comes up to me, but before he can say a word, I punch him in the face hard.

I give him a fake smile and stalk off to my table. I sit down next to Christina and Tobias.

"Nice one Tris!" Christina yells slapping my back.

I bite on my lip until I taste blood, trying not to scream. My back is still painfully sore.

Marlene, Shauna, and Lynn come and we start talking about random things until Uriah and Zeke come.

"Dude I'm way swaggier than you!" Zeke yells.

"No I have a ton more swag than you! I watch sponge bob AND Dora!" Uriah yells.

They both sit down across from me and look at me up and down.

"What." I say annoyed.

They look at each other and nod.

"Who has more swag me or him?" They ask in unison.

"Seriously!" Tobias says.

"Yeah!" Uriah screams.

"I would have to say Uriah. I mean he watches SpongeBob and Dora." I say as if it's obvious.

Christina and Will laugh.

"Thank you." Uriah says with sass.

Zeke looks like he is about to kill someone so I quickly take the opportunity to talk to Chris about her and Will.

"ATTENTION EVERYONE! WE ARE DOING A HUGE PARTY AT MY PLACE TONIGHT ONLY FOR DAUNTLESS PEEPS LIKE US! WE DONT LIKE NERDS! SO COME AT 7! 7456 DAUNTLESS AVENUE!" Uriah screams to everyone.

I hear cheers and the gang tells him that they'll be there.

They look at me.

"Yes?"

"Are you coming?" Chris asks.

"I don't think so. I'm not the party type." I say

"C'mon it'll be fun!" They all yell.

"Fine." I say exasperated.

"Yay! Now us gals can go shopping!" Christina screams.

"No, no, no. I can't." I say think of Marcus. If he happens to be there and he sees me, let's just say that it'll not turn out well.

"Yes you will, girly!" Christina says.

I look at Tobias for help. He looks confused and then his eyes widen in realization.

"How about you guys pick out a dress that would look good on her. She promised me that she would help me after school." Tobias lies.

"Okay." Marlene chirps.

PAEBREAK TO PARTY~~~~~~~~~~~

I drive with Tobias over to Uriah and Zeke's house. Christina, of course got me a tight blue dress.

I almost didn't wear it since the scars come up high and the dress is what? Oh yeah. Strapless. Luckily mom is an expert at makeup so she quickly covered them up.

I am immediately hit by the smell of alcohol. I reach down and grip Tobias's hand. I don't want to get lost in here.

He smiles down at me and we walk into the overly crowded house.
