"Olivia?" He asks

"She saved me" I say

"Then it wasn't in vain. We need to leave here. Are there soldiers outside?" He asks

"No, it's clear" I say suddenly Caleb walks up behind them I sigh and walk over hugging him.

"I should have believed you. I left as soon as I realized. Why is this happening? I don't understand. Why are Dauntless fighting for Erudite?" Caleb asks

"They don't know what they're doing. They're under simulation. We need to wake em up. I need to get into Dauntless" I say

"That's fortress it's not gonna happen" Marcus, Fours father says even thinking about his name makes me want to punch him in the face.

"I can get us in there" I say and then we leave the building heading to Dauntless. We get on the train and wait and then hop off and I jog over to the entrance.

"What now?" Caleb asks

"You're not gonna like it" I say showing them the hole. "There's a net at the bottom. Don't think, just jump" I say and jump down. When I land in the net I get out and get it ready for the best person. Caleb, my father and then Marcus.

"Are you good?" I ask

"Good?" Caleb says

"Let's go" I say we made our way to their headquarters. I peer around the corner and see a guard. I sneak over and kick Peter making him drop his gun and fall forward.

"Against the wall. Against the wall!" I yell he puts his hands up and goes against the wall like I told him. "How are you awake?" I ask

"Because I'm smarter than you. And they need me." He says

"Where are they controlling it from?" I ask

"Why would I tell you? It's not like you're gonna shoot me" he says

"Why do people keep saying that" I say and shoot him in the leg he screams and groans.

"Where are they controlling it from?" I ask again. He guides me to the room. Caleb, My father and Marcus come out.

"Did you really need to shoot him?" Marcus asks he is in no position to be talking to me right now.

"Every minute we waste, another Abnegation dies and another Dauntless becomes a murderer." I say

"Peter, let's go" I say pushing him ahead. "That's it isn't it?" I ask

"Yeah" he says

"I've seen Jeanine go in there. That's where she's controlling it from." I say

"Like you said, there isn't a second to waste" my father takes the gun off me and walks out shooting the Dauntless we all come out behind him attacking them until they're all dead.

"Dad..." Caleb says no matter how much of an abusing asshole he was, he was still my father.

"Watch Caleb. I'm going in there" I say and open the doors going inside. I go around the corner and see Four. He was hooked up to some machine he had a straight expression. What did they do to him?

"Hey. Hi" I say walking over to him I began cutting the ties on his wrist when the one comes free he grabs my wrist squeezing it tight. "Four...Four, it's me. You're in a sim" I say trying to pull him off of me.

"He can't hear you. Amazing, isn't it? Everything we think of that makes up a persons thoughts, emotions, history... All wiped away by chemistry." Jeanine says

"Four." I say

"He's gone. And we're all safer for it" she says

"Safer? How are we safer?" I ask

"The brilliance of the faction system is that conformity to the faction removes the threat of anyone exercising their independent will. Divergents threaten that system. Don't get me wrong. There's a certain beauty in your resistance, your defiance of categorization. But it's a beauty we can't afford." She says

"Four, it's me. It's me. Please, Four look at me. Look at me" I say suddenly she grabs my throat and pushes me against the wall. "Four! It's me!" I yell he groans and throws me off the wall.

"Four, stop!" I yell he swings at me but I dodge it and kick him. He groans stumbling towards but turns around and grabs me throwing me into the supplies. I groan and get up trying to attack him again but he just tosses me to the ground. I began backing up away from him on the floor.

"Stop!" I yell and grab the gun on the floor holding it up to him. He hover over me stood tall just staring at me.

"Stop..." I turn the gun to me he hovers over me this time holding the gun to my temple our hands connected. I take quick breaths crying.

"Four.... please... it's okay, it's okay. I love you. It's okay. It's okay. I love you. It's okay. Four, look at me. Look at me." I say grabbing his chin turning his face to look at mine.

"It's me. It's me. It's me, it's me" I repeat over and over again shaking.

"13" he pants staring at me I nod. "Go" I say Four takes the gun and aims it at the guard shooting them. I get up and began attacking the other guards.

"Finish it" I hear Jeanine say I go past a couple more Erudite guards until I get a clear way and throw my knife landing it straight through her hand. She screams and groans looking at her hand.

"Shut it down" I say

"No" she says

"I am not gonna ask you again. Do it! Shut it down!" I yell

"I admire you willing to die for what you believe in... But so am I. You can't do it, can you?" She says "maybe you're not quite as Dauntless as you thought you were" she says

"You're right. I'm not. I'm Divergent" I say Four tosses me one of her simulation liquids in the needle. I grab her neck and inject it into her. She groans and then becomes a zombie.

"Now shut it down and wipe the program" I say Four types a few things into the machine and Jeanine presses a button and swipes the screen.

"System-wide shutdown" it says Jeanine wakes up from the sim and realizes what happened.

"No... No... No!" She growls

"Don't get me wrong. There's a certain beauty to your resistance." I say to her she grunts angrily and tries to attack me but I hit her and knock her out.

"13... we gotta go. Now" Four says we both leave and meet back with everyone else.

"Tobias" Marcus says

"We need to keep moving" Four says ignoring his father. We all leave and run for the train. Four gets in first and helps Caleb up.

"Son!" He calls out and as much as I knew he didn't want to help him he did and pulled him up. I was the last one.

"I got it!" I say panting

"I know you do" he grabs my waist and pulls me up into him.

"Olivia and my father died today. They're gone" I say

"I know" Four says his grip was tight and comforting on me. "But Olivia loved you, 13. For her, there was no other better way to show you" he says I sniffle imagining how my brother must feel right now.

"I'm not so sure how I feel about my father" I say "Caleb is heartbroken" I add

"He'll be okay and so will you" he says

"Now we have nothing. We have no home, no faction... I don't even know who I am anymore." I say

"I know exactly who you are" Four says

"You sure about that?" I ask looking up at him.

"Yeah, I'm very sure. Come here" he says pulling me into a hug.

We're like the Factionless now. We've left everything behind, but we found ourselves and each other. Tomorrow we may have to fight again, but, for now, we'll ride the train to the end of the line... And then we'll jump.
