Diving under the clear blue water which color mimics the sky. Past the bundles of plastic including cups and utensils, lies more wildlife then you can imagine, fish of all colors and a world unlike our own. Gloria pushes her thin body to the sea floor collecting any slightly decomposed substances of plastic and placing them into a single jar. 

"Oh look a Paracanthurus hepatus" Gloria mumbles under her snorkel. 

Swimming to the surface she removes her snorkel gasping for air and rolls on to her back. She begins to back stroke to the dock where her 8year old son Jaden doodles in his notebook. He has dirty blonde hair just like his mother and wears cute little blue jeans with a green t-shirt that has ninja turtles on it. 

"Whatcha doing sweetie" Gloria says while taking of her bright orange flippers and throwing them on top of the dock. 

"I don't know how to start an ess-ay" Jaden says. 

"essay? essays are easy hunnie in the end you just need to answer the question and explain why your answer makes sense". Gloria climbs onto the dock and sits down resting her back down from the hours of swimming and allowing the suns warmth to brush over top of her skin. 

The Ocean breezes caused the cool wind to blow over top of them. 

Jaden notices the jar aside his mother and lifts it. "what's this Mommy?" 

Gloria sits back up and holds the jar, "it's plastic decomposing, I take it back to the lab so some scientists can examine it and see how bad the chemicals are that are effecting our ocean". 

Jaden looks down at the fish and the abundance of plastic floating to the top, "part of the question was does your parents love their job". 

Gloria brushes her hand through Jaden's hair which begins to fall over his eyebrows, "You need a haircut, ok ill answer, I do love my job cause one day when your big and have children this ocean will be the way it used to be so it will be healthy for you and my grandchildren". 

Jaden begins to press his pencil against the notebook thinking hard about the question and then glances up at Gloria, "why do we have an ocean if everyone destroys it?" 

Gloria looks at the jar and back at the ocean, "Maybe we just need more people like you and me to fix it". 

Gloria places the flippers onto her feet and the snorkel back onto her face then she jumps back into the water. Jaden begins to doodle into his journal, the image revealed on the page is the Paracanthurus hepatus aka Dory from 'Finding Nemo'.  The fish was no longer moving as it floated to the top, would this fish be nothing more then just plastic thrown away into an ocean. 

Jaden stands up and closes his notebook, "Bye bye Ocean" and walks away from the Ocean down the wooden dock.
