{don't say it}
10:32am
Yoongi was right about a storm coming.
Seated side by side on the lounge of the tattoo parlour, Jimin and Yoongi both huddled under the only blanket in the store. The temperature had plummeted this morning, so the both of them simply leaned against one another, bundling up together as their eyes settled on the scene outside.
The rain poured down incessantly, filling the air with a full body chill. Yoongi found himself sinking back into the comfort of the lounge, watching as the drops chased each other down the glass.
As the sky rumbled and shook he felt completely at peace. These were his favourite kind of days where he didn't have to feel bad about not leaving the house. Strangely, he usually spent these days alone... but being by Jimin's side didn't seem to bother him as much as he thought it would.
Beside him, he felt Jimin shift in place. Yoongi's eyes darted over to the male, brows furrowing when he noticed Jimin typing away at his phone. The light of the screen illuminated Jimin's soft features, and Yoongi found himself pausing for a moment before he spoke up, "Who are you texting?"
Not lifting his gaze, Jimin responded softly, "Taehyung."
Yoongi rose a brow under his mess of blonde hair, "Is there something wrong with them or-?"
"Nothing's wrong." Jimin chuckled, resting his head against Yoongi's shoulder as he showed him the phone screen, "He's just complaining about how Jungkook's about to force him to watch a horror movie." He smiled, earning a nod from Yoongi before he switched off the phone screen and tossed it aside.
The pair fell back into a comfortable silence, the soft sound of rain pattering against the windows soothing to their ears as they simply sat and listened. The blanket almost wasn't warm enough, because soon Yoongi found himself beginning to shiver. He clasped his hands together under the fabric, shrinking back into the lounge for as much warmth as possible... he knew he should've fixed that stupid heater months ago.
Jimin seemed to notice, because in one effortless motion the younger male wrapped an arm around Yoongi's shoulders and pulled him close. Despite the heaviness now present in Yoongi's stomach, it fluttered at the feeling of his body pressed against Jimin's. He sunk into the warmth of his side, appreciative of the simple gesture. Jimin's touch made the room warmer somehow, the morning a little less bleak.
Yoongi found his eyes moving curiously to study Jimin's expression, breath falling short once he noticed the slight fluster in the younger male's cheeks.
Jimin couldn't right?
There was no way he could like Yoongi... right?
Yoongi couldn't find his voice. Instead he felt all warm inside and his stomach was heavy. As Jimin moved in closer his heart pounded in his throat, threatening to break out. His eyes wandered around the room, anywhere but Jimin. How and when the fuck did it become this way?
The close proximity had been driving Jimin insane, and because Yoongi wasn't shying away he took it as a cue to move in closer, slowly turning Yoongi's body towards him...
but boy was he wrong.
Yoongi's body numbed as Jimin's eyes met with his own and the blond became painfully conscious of the position they were in. Yes, Yoongi was flustered, and yes he felt that magical pull drawing him closer to the other male... but no, he didn't act on it.
Biting down on his lower lip, Yoongi placed his hands firmly against Jimin's shoulders, gently shoving the younger male away. His throat felt tight, but he managed to rasp out, "What are you doing?"
Jimin was frozen, eyes growing wide once he realised he had crossed a line. He almost felt his chest restricting as Yoongi shot up from the lounge, ready to storm off. But Jimin jumped up right behind him, "Yoongi wait!" he exclaimed, snatching a hold of Yoongi's arm before the older male could escape.
They both stood in the middle of the tattoo parlour, Yoongi scrunching his hair in his hands as his eyes focused on anything other then Jimin. The blonde let out a groan, "No Jimin..." He took a step back, "I'm just confused."
Even though Yoongi was denying it, Jimin didn't fail to notice the slight pink in his cheeks. The younger male balled his fists by his side once he recounted all the signs, all the signs that this wasn't just one sided... Yoongi was just in denial.
Jimin let out a scoff, "Why do I even try!?"
Raised voice catching him off guard, Yoongi in his dishevelled state lifted his gaze to meet with Jimin's, "What-"
"It's like I'm talking to a brick wall sometimes!" He confessed, letting out a sad and humourless chuckle as he wobbled on his feet a little, "There's no reciprocation... but I can't help but feel the way I do..."
Yoongi's throat felt even tighter, "Jimin what do you-"
"You know I see you as more then a friend." Jimin's voice came out so soothingly, his words so gentle and loving that it almost relaxed Yoongi entirely. The way that sentence rolled off Jimin's tongue sent Yoongi's heart racing once again, and he didn't know why he was so uplifted hearing those words. Jimin let out a huff, blowing a strand of hair from his eyes, "I mean, it's kinda obvious."
Yoongi's words almost became choked up but he managed to reply in his usual tone, "I guess I suspected something but-"
"But what?" Just feeling Yoongi's doubt sent Jimin's mind racing, "You still won't try?" He let out another scoff, running a hand stressfully through his hair before he locked eyes with Yoongi, "Cut the crap, you feel the same way I do!"
Yoongi's heart stopped, "No-"
Jimin took a step forwards, "I don't believe you."
"Jimin." Yoongi growled
"Yoongi."
How did it come to this?
Yesterday was so calm. Yoongi couldn't help but loosen his tense stance as he recalled how not only how much he enjoyed yesterday, but Jimin's company in general. Over the short few weeks they had been cooped up together Yoongi found himself warming up to Jimin's bubbly personality, the two of them not bouncing off each other like magnets, but more so connecting on a level Yoongi didn't really think was possible.
He enjoyed being around Jimin, he genuinely enjoyed following the boy with the pride in his step and the fiery orange hair. He felt normal almost, and comfortable showing Jimin a side to him that never usually surfaced. He could almost feel the warmth from that one sunset not too long ago, where Jimin leaned against him on the roof. Yoongi thought it was just the moment... but he genuinely cherished Jimin's company.
Tearing himself away from his thoughts, Yoongi clenched his teeth, sucking in a sharp breath of cold air before he spat out a sentence he never thought he'd say, "Okay fine! Fucking fine!" He brought his hands to his head as he pulled at his hair in frustration, "I do okay!? I like you!" It was never meant to be this way... he was never meant to feel this! "I really do... but I can't go and throw myself into any romantic relationships!" He finally lifted his gaze to study Jimin's expression, and it wasn't a very pleasing one.
Jimin was mad, practically fuming as he took yet another heavy step towards Yoongi, "Cant you just try!?"
"No Jimin I can't!" Yoongi shout, not caring if his voice could be heard from all the way down the street, "You're always sleeping around with a load of different men! You're not even stable!"
"I'm being serious for once!" Jimin argued back, but he only earnt a small 'tsk' from Yoongi as he turned his eyes away once again,
"I don't want a relationship Jimin."
Jimin took one more step forwards, the pair of them almost chest-to-chest as Jimin's lips pressed into a thin line, "I'm not leaving." His voice wasn't raised, but it was still stern and commanding, "You know this, but I seriously think we've got a chance..."
"Jimin, for the last time... I don't date!" Yoongi watched as Jimin's eyes went dark,
"Yeah, because 'people never stay' or some bullshit." Jimin spat.
Yoongi flinched, his anger falling into something worrisome, "Jimin, don't go there."
Jimin wasn't thinking straight. His thoughts were a mess and he spoke without thinking of the consequences. He was angry, and upset... emotions swelling up inside of him ready to erupt, "What? You don't want me to mention that huh!?" Jimin jabbed at the male's chest, sending Yoongi stumbling backwards as his pure rage took over, "Get over it Yoongi. What happened, happened!"
Yoongi's face went almost impossibly pale.
Jimin stopped as his expression fell into one that truely horrified Yoongi. Everyone knew of Jimin's extremely short temper, and for the most part they could deal with his occasional outbreaks just fine... but Yoongi couldn't bring himself to fight back as Jimin's words hit him like wildfire, "It was never a case of people never stay, it was a case of fucking murder Yoongi!"
This was too much. Yoongi breathed in and out but air wouldn't enter his lungs. Starved for air, his heart raced at a tremendous speed, and his lungs shallowly rose and fell in time. He stood there for what felt like an eternity, but it was actually only a few seconds before he managed to speak up, "Don't." His voice came out weak, but blinded by rage Jimin only continued to argue,
"Don't what!?" Jimin shoved the male, "Say that you murdered your whole family in cold blood!?" Jimin froze, slapping a hand over his mouth as he finally came back to his senses.
Yoongi's brain had shut down at this point.
He was clammy and there was the glisten of a cold sweat. His eyes were as wide as if someone was coming to deliver a fatal blow. What he saw no one else could see, trapped in his own psychosis, a living nightmare for one as he stumbled back on his feet.
Jimin fucked up.
He had fucked up so bad.
Yoongi's smile was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, so this panicked expression of his was by far the worst. His anger would always come like an impossible built up stream, burning him on the way out, burning the one on the receiving end. Every time he ever blew he regretted it, owning the shame that was his own.
Which is why he wasn't at all surprised when Yoongi's fist came into contact with his face.
Jimin felt the pain against the side of his cheek before he stumbled backwards. He caught himself against the front counter of the tattoo parlour, wiping the blood from his lip as he simply stood and watched from afar as Yoongi clutched a hand against his chest, turning on his feet and storming out of the parlour. It was still raining, but the blonde didn't care, being swallowed up by the dusty greys and the rain pouring from the sky as he just ran.
Jimin knew he had to apologise, but he just couldn't bring himself to chase after Yoongi. So throwing on a winter coat he stormed towards the glass door, pausing once he saw a familiar male walking towards him... Seokjin.
Pushing open the glass door, Jimin didn't even want to face Seokjin... so avoiding eye contact he shoved his hands into the pockets of his coat, turning in a random direction as he walked out into the rain, "Jin, man the store!" He called back, feeling the rain rolling off his heated skin,
"I need a breather..."
