Freckles Like Stars
Felix sat outside in the cold of the night. He had watched the sun set and the stars twinkled in the sky.
His heart was heavy with sadness and guilt. He could've done something. He could've easily broken out of BamBam's grip if he wanted to...he could have saved his sister...
He wouldn't have to be scared of losing his brother.
But he's already lost Minho to Jisung, and now he feels like he has no one left but himself, which wasn't true at all. He had Chan...right?
Even still, Felix couldn't shake the overwhelming loneliness he felt as he sat there, not bothered by the bitter cold that caused goosebumps to rise on his exposed arms. He had changed out of his previous clothes as they had been covered with blood, and was now wearing a plain grey t-shirt and black tracksuit pants that he borrowed from Chan.
Chan watched as Felix sat there, leaning against the side of his bus. The older felt it was best to leave Felix alone for a while; let him gather his thoughts and pull himself together. After Woojin had died, Chan hadn't talked to Jisung, Seungmin nor Jooheon for days, nearing a week and a half actually.
He gathered his thoughts, pulled himself together, and went on with his life. Felix would learn, but he would be broken for a long time. Even Chan, as strong as he seemed, was still trying to pick up the pieces left by past events.
"Felix?" Chan called out, not expecting the Hybrid to answer.
"Hm?" Felix replied.
"Aren't you cold?" Chan asked.
"I can't feel the cold" Felix's tone of voice lacked any emotion, which worried Chan somewhat, but he understood.
The least he could do was try and help him a little, even if it would be better off giving the hybrid some space.
Chan walked over to Felix, crossing his legs and sat behind Felix. All of a sudden, Felix was pulled into Chan's lap, the younger letting out a sound of surprise.
"You know, you're freckles remind me of stars" Chan suddenly blurted out.
"W-what?" Felix stuttered, a blush staining his cheeks.
"I said, your freckles remind me of stars" Chan smirked.
"I know that you said" Felix huffed, "but why would you say something like that?"
"Because I hate seeing you like this" Chan frowned, turning Felix around in his lap so they were facing each other, "I hate seeing someone who's strong like you seem so weak, and especially because it's you" Chan sighs, "it hurts me"
"Why does it hurt you? It's not like we're connected or anything" Felix scoffed, rolling his eyes.
And that's when it hit Chan like a ton of bricks. They were connected...
Felix was his Mate.
Chan froze up for a few seconds, the cogs in his mind turning as he came to that realisation.
"Felix...I think you're my Mate" Chan spoke seriously.
Felix blinked slowly as he processed that, before suddenly...it all made sense. So that's why Felix felt so safe there in Chan's arms, and why it felt so right to kiss Chan. They were connected; they were Mates.
Felix had found his Mate.
Felix felt tears form in the corner of his eyes; he was happy. After all the shit that has been going down these past few days, Felix finally felt truly happy. He was still sad about that fact that Minho didn't really need him anymore, but it was the right thing to do, because now the Lee brothers finally had people who would look out for them, who would protect them from any harm that threatened them.
So why did Felix's gut tell him this wasn't going to last?
