Chapter 10

--= Preston's + POV =--

Rushing over to my room, heart racing silently to itself as I tried to keep quiet I held my breath in my hands, not wanting to make any more noise than I already have.

I wish I hadn't bumped into Sky, it was way too close of a call for this amount of time. Gripping onto my throbbing hand crawling with polished black, sooth and similar to ivory.

I let out a deep breath as I quickly rushed a hand through my densed hair. Sweat dripping onto my forehead and trickling down the sides of my face a shuddered whisper escaped my lips.

That was too close....The ill silence throwing the room into what seemed like a chaotic aura glowing through the room similar to air I trembled.

That was definitely way too close. Slicking the stress off of my skin, letting it slide off of my body and plop off of my chin a forced smile made it's way onto my lips as I glanced over to the closet.

"I can't keep it a secret for much longer." Teeth hooking onto my bottom lip I scrunched up my face as I stared more and more at the ceiling fan whirling around above me.

A sense of dread washing over me feeling like the doom of me was going to draw nearer and nearer if Sky found out or even became suspicious of the sudden event I began to shake.

This is going to be really hard to explain. If it comes to the worst of conclusions, I'll do what I must. To Sky or anyone who comes across my path. I need to keep the truth from them all.

The arm is something that would explode the public's mind and chaos will absolutely reign through the city, bringing forth experiments, popularity, so many problems which we can't afford.

Which I can't afford.

That Sky can't afford.

And I want everything that is going to be okay for Sky, if he gets in trouble because of me or in harms way, well, I'll have to do something that would punish me well enough. It's what I did last time.

"Sky?" I called out. Hearing shuffling from right outside of the door, I couldn't help but grin when he poked his head through the doorway, seeming worried and happy that I called him.

"Yes?" Sky spoke up. Sky's voice desperate and gentle, a warm feeling glowed inside of my chest as I cleared my throat. Lips parting, I grabbed a hold of my bad arm and squeezed it tightly.

"Are you okay?" Squeezing one eye closed as I turned my body away from Sky, terrified he would burst, Sky just looked at me confused and bluntly.

"Am I okay? Yeah but I should be the one asking you that!" Sky pointed out. Laughing nervously, I raised my hand to scratch the back of my head, nodding shyly.

"Y-Yeah...I guess I'm doing okay. But I'm scared...." I trailed off. Bowing my head so my eyes were casted onto the floor, Sky's silence didn't make it any better.

Hearing footsteps come closer to me, I flinched, drawing back by hiding further into the hoodie I wore, the hood casting a shadow over my face I felt his fingers slip under my chin.

Pulling my face upwards so our eyes were locked, he seemed distressed as he stared into my eyes. Not sure how to mend the words to talk to me, I forced a smile as my hand grasped his wrist, squeezing it weakly.

"It's okay.....I'll be okay."
