Chapter 6: "A second apology"

"The younger boy was crying, his glassy eyes spoke louder than words..."

•••

Jimin was halfway through the stairs when he paused. He had been like that for the past hour, climbing the flight of stairs then regretting it and going back down. He hadn't yet been able to near the younger's room, yet he knew he had to do it. It is now or never Jimin. He told himself. Just swallow your pride and do it. It's not that difficult... But it actually was. What face could he look at Jungkook now with? He had promised to earn his respect by being a good Hyung and next thing they know, he is brushing Jungkook off in a cold and inconsiderate manner. It wasn't Jimin's fault, though, the bunny-faced boy had the worst timing ever. Jimin was surprised he didn't destroy anything during his break-down, he's been known for breaking anything around every time the situation gets out of hand.

Without even realising, Jimin found himself at the top of the stairs. Was he really going to do it? He was now walking down the corridor, he passed his room and was meters away from the younger's one. And if he was going to do it, what would he say? Jimin neared Jungkook's door and just rested his face on it, making sure he wouldn't make any sound. With a big breath he knocked on the door twice, very slowly, almost imperceptibly. He told himself that if the younger didn't hear he would just give up and leave, but he was not that lucky.

"Come in." The voice was heard from inside the room. It seemed sad and tired. Jimin's heart sank.

The older pushed the door open very slowly as if he wanted to delay the meeting as much as possible. And there he was, face to face with the boy, who was making him feel so many emotions in the last two days.

"It's you." Jungkook said at the same time he lowered his head. He was again sitting cross-legged on his bed, the same position Jimin had found him just the day before, when he had burst into the younger's room screaming.

"Were you expecting someone else?" Jimin was trying to sound soft but he was failing miserably. It seemed as if his big pride wasn't letting him be nice.

"I thought it would be Jem-noona..." Jungkook trailed off, sad, as if he wanted his visitor to be Jem instead of Jimin.

"Well, I'm not her, so..." But Jimin wasn't able to finish his sentence because at that exact moment Jungkook looked up, which made Jimin forget what he was about to say. The broken look on Jungkook's face made Jimin's heart shatter into pieces. The younger boy was crying, his glassy eyes spoke louder than words and Jimin hated himself for being the cause of those teary eyes.

"Why?" Jungkook said in a soft whisper.

"Why what?" Jimin's voice was anything but cold, no matter how big his ego was, he couldn't deny the fact that he was aching at the broken look on the boy's face

"Why do you hate me that much?"

"I-I don't..." A lump had formed on Jimin's throat which was preventing him from uttering a single sound.

"I was just trying to help," Jungkook lowered his face again, burying it in his arms. "and all you did was shout at me."

"I'm sorry..." Jimin was finding it very difficult to speak. He wanted to say a million things, anything to make the boy stop crying, stop aching, but his vocal cords weren't responding to the commands his brain was giving them.

Jungkook shook his head at Jimin's last words, as if he didn't believe it for one second. But it was true, Jimin was truly sorry, he had even come to apologise and everything. Why couldn't he just say the words, though?

"No you are not sorry." Jungkook continued. "I actually believed you yesterday, when you apologised. But now I know you didn't mean anything you said. I... I should just go back home, I'll tell Noona when she comes back..."

But Jimin couldn't let that happen. "No!" He finally found his voice, startling the younger, which made him lift his face from his arms. "No, you can't leave, not because of me. I'm so sorry Jungkook, I truly am. I had actually come to apologise for bursting at you like that. I really didn't mean to. It's just... the situation got out of hand and I... Well, I just didn't want you to see me cry, honestly." He ended with a timid chuckle.

"Really?"

Jimin nodded.

"I-I... I'm sorry for thinking like this." Jungkook seemed a little bit ashamed of himself.

"What?! No! You don't need to apologise, I'm the only one who should be apologising here."

Suddenly Jungkook looked away with a small smile on his lips as if he had just remembered something.

"What?" Asked Jimin, his curiosity getting the best of him.

"Nothing." Jungkook answered, while shaking his head, which only made his smile deepen.

"C'mon." Jimin groaned, which triggered a fit of giggles from the younger one.

"Nothing, it's just that I just realised something." Jungkook said with a shy beam.

"What?" Jungkook was definitely making Jimin beg for it.

"Well, I didn't have to do anything to get you to apologise this time."

Jimin choked on air and tried to cover it by coughing a bit. "Well, I-I thought that was the right thing to do." He stuttered a bit while scratching the back of his neck.

Jungkook remained silent with his eyes glued to the older ones. His eyes were still glassy but he had stopped crying, his tears were drying on his cheeks and Jimin resisted a strong urge to dry them with his fingers.

Knowing he wouldn't be able to take it if they kept on staring at each other, Jimin finally broke the silence. Hold on a second! I wouldn't be able to take it? Jimin are you fucking listening to your thoughts? Aish! We'll have a serious talk later! He scolded himself

"So... um... would you... um... maybe... like to do something together?"

"Ah, sure." Jungkook looked down a little bit embarrassed. He hadn't noticed he had been staring at the older for that long. A crimson blush appeared on his cheeks, but he got lucky, since the other had already moved to the laptop that was resting on the desk and was pushing it open.

"Would you like to watch a movie?" Jimin spoke with his back towards Jungkook, while turning the computer on.

"Um... sure." Came the younger's response.

Jimin brought the computer with him and trying not to show how nervous he was, he sat down on Jungkook's bed, with his back resting on the headboard. Jungkook seemed a bit surprised at first but then he relaxed and sat next to Jimin, always making sure their bodies wouldn't touch. There was a little space of air between both of their arms and Jungkook was planning to keep it that way.

At first Jimin was nervous, he is not going to lie, he actually thought that watching a movie with the person that just the day before had provoked a boner on him was not the best idea, but for some unknown reason he didn't want the moment to end. Nevertheless, the second the bunny-faced boy sat next to him making sure their arms wouldn't touch, all nervousness evaporated like water in the desert. In fact, it was making him smirk and want to tease the younger.

"So what movie?" Jimin broke the sudden silence

"Um... whatever you want is fine."

"You choose, since you are the youngest." Jimin couldn't care less about the movie, because he knew he wouldn't be watching, he had something better to do to amuse himself. He smirked, but made sure Jungkook wouldn't see him.

"Uh... we could... uh... maybe watch "Love 911"?" Jungkook finally said.

At the sound of those last words Jimin couldn't resist the temptation any longer and displayed his full smirk towards the younger at the same time he arched one eyebrow.

"What? It's a nice movie." Jungkook cried defensively.

"I'm not saying anything." Jimin shrugged, but his chuckle showed he was having reserved opinions, to which Jungkook scoffed, making Jimin's chuckle turn into a full cackle.

Nevertheless, Jimin put the movie and waited for around ten minutes to start his game. Once the movie had fully started and Jungkook seemed completely immersed in it, Jimin moved an imperceptible inch to his right, brushing the younger's arm. To Jimin's amusement Jungkook took his arm away so that it wouldn't touch Jimin's but didn't move. After five minutes the latter moved another inch so that their bodies were now pressed against each other's. Jungkook gulped and Jimin heard it at the same time he moved a little to his right so that he wouldn't be touching the older anymore.

"Oh sorry, I was almost falling from the bed." Jimin said feigning innocence.

Jungkook limited himself to shaking his head.

The bed was a single one so there wasn't much space for two people to sit comfortably on it. At that moment Jungkook was almost at the edge and Jimin had a tiny space on his left which he had made when he moved earlier. But Jimin wasn't done, he had never been the kind of person who knows when to stop, so therefore he continued. He moved a tiny bit more so that their bodies were pressed against the other's again. And if his calculations weren't wrong, Jungkook wouldn't be able to move that time, unless he wanted to fall from the bed. A smirk adorned Jimin's lips at the warmth that was engulfing his right side, until...

BANG!

The soothing warmth disappeared. Jungkook had fallen from the bed. Jimin didn't know whether to laugh at Jungkook's cuteness or be worried about him being hurt.

"You okay?" Was the first thing that came out of Jimin's mouth.

"Um... yeah..." Jungkook responded from the floor while scratching the back of his neck, which was a clear sign of embarrassment. "I just... uh..."

"Fell from the bed?" Jimin completed his sentence with a tiny chuckle.

"Yeah..." Jungkook couldn't meet the older's gaze.

"Well, what are you waiting for? We aren't even halfway through the movie."

"Right..."

Jungkook got up to see that Jimin wasn't leaving him much space on his side, which meant he would not be able to escape from touching him any longer. With a sigh he sat down on the bed trying with all his might not to be in contact with the older boy.

"Jungkook."

"Hm?" Jungkook wasn't looking at him, instead he was watching his hands.

"Half of your body is outside the bed."

Instead of responding Jungkook seemed to give up because he finally sat down correctly and pressed his body against Jimin's, which earned a satisfied smile from the latter.

They watched the movie in silence till the end, Jimin relishing in the warmth occasioned by the younger's body throughout the whole movie. And all too soon it was ending. If Jimin was completely honest, he hadn't watched the first 30 minutes of it but as soon as he got immersed in the plot he fell in love with the characters. It was the type of movie he would have classified as overly sweet and boring, but after watching it he was doubting his whole existence. Maybe he wasn't that tough kind of gangster boy he thought he was. But most importantly he was enjoying his time with Jungkook and he didn't want it to end so as soon as the movie finished, he uttered:

"Wanna watch another one?"

Without even moving an inch, as if he felt that if he did he would end up touching more of the other boy's body, Jungkook nodded.

And that's how they spent the whole day just watching movie after movie, making tiny breaks in the middle of them to sneak into the kitchen and stuff their pockets with snacks.

"Ah, I'm full." Jimin exclaimed at the same time he let his whole weight fall against the mattress. He was now lying on his back at the feet of the bed, with his hands on his stomach for effect.

Jungkook was still sitting against the headboard and content by the lack of contact with the older he let himself smile at his cuteness.

It was already evening. They had just finished devouring their last bag of chips and had watched at least seven movies by now, which meant neither of them wanted to look at a screen again anytime soon.

"So," Jimin finally spoke from his resting position. "what would you like to do tonight?"

"What do you have in mind?" Jungkook was displaying his full bunny-teeth smile and Jimin was enjoying it a little bit too much.

The older boy sat up immediately and wiggled his eyebrows to create suspense, before he spoke. "Let's go to a club."

"Huh?" Jungkook's smile disappeared faster than a speeding bullet.

"You know, a nightclub." Jimin reaffirmed. "Let's get us some girls." He wiggled his eyebrows again while smirking.

"Um... I don't really like those kinds of places..."

"Oh c'mon, where else will we get girls?"

"I... uh... I don't feel comfortable in crowded places, honestly."

"Aish! Jungkook-ah..." Jimin groaned. "C'mon, we can just get the girls and tell them to go to a quieter place if you want." He pleaded.

"I-I really don't think I..."

"C'mon," Jimin interrupted him. "when was the last time you hooked up with a girl?" He insisted.

"I-I..." Jungkook was lost for words. "I don't..."

"What?"

"I'm gay." Jungkook finally admitted looking down at his hands on his lap.

"What?"

"I'm gay," Jungkook repeated. "I like abs more than boobies."

"Wha...?" Jimin was dumbfounded. "Y-you...? H-how can you...?"

Jungkook looked up, he was not liking the older's reaction at all. "What? Be gay?"

"I-I just don't understand..." Jimin seemed to be in some kind of shock.

"You don't understand how I can be gay? Or you don't understand how homosexuality exists in general?" Jungkook's tone was far from friendly, which took Jimin out of his trance.

"D-don't get me wrong, I'm not a homophobic, I just really don't see what is there to like in men's abs, to be honest."

"That is the most homophobic comment I've ever heard." Jungkook had had enough.

"I-I..."

"Just get out of my room Jimin." Jungkook turned his head to the side. He couldn't bear looking at him any longer

"Jungkook..." Jimin pleaded.

"Just... just let me think, okay?" Jungkook was still not looking at him.

With no other option Jimin left the room having messed up. Again.
