The Other Side Of The House

Anti flinched as he opened his eyes. He looked up at the sky to see the stars.

He had fallen asleep on the roof, it seemed. Slowly, he sat up on the tiles and yawned.

"Finally awake, huh?"

Anti twitched and turned only to see Chase sitting next to him.

"Wh-what are you doing up here?"

Chase was looking up at the stars, "Eric said you'd probably be up here. Saw you sleeping though and didn't want to wake you. Didn't look like you were getting a tan, though. That sucks"

Anti hummed, "Don't think I really can GET tan"

"Neither can I. We can get really red though" Chase chuckled, "All us Septics are pasty boys"

Chase's light mood threw Anti off. After yelling at them earlier and remembering his dream . . . . he expected Chase to throw him off the roof himself.

Speaking of the dream . . . he hated to mention it but he felt as if he had to, "I don't blame you, you know. For shooting me"

Chase's smile fell but he nodded, "I know. Don't know for sure if I completely forgive you, either. We'll work on it"

"Why? After everything I've done to you guys. To your family-"

"Because you regret it." Chase stopped him, "I was too caught up in my anger and grudge before to see it. I've told you this."

"I know but . . .." Anti deflated, "I'm sorry, Chase. I truly am sorry for everything I've done to you and your family. To everyone."

". . . . I know. I'm learning to forgive you."

"I'm sorry"

"I'm s-" he was about to apologize back when Anti suddenly glitched, throwing him off.

"Sorry. Happens sometimes. What were you gonna say?"

Chase swallowed and shook his head, "Nothing. Don't worry about it. But about earlier-"

"Please don't" Anti stopped him, "I don't want to talk about Dark and that you think it's really Actor. I don't want to get into it anymore tonight. Please?"

Chase wanted to argue but sighed, deciding against it. He didn't want to fight either.

'He doesn't care' Anti thought, 'Not really. Just like two years ago, none of them still REALLY care. They still go on as if they did nothing to me from the beginning'

A sudden thought crossed his mind to throw Chase off the roof but he held it in.

"But I do think Actor still might be alive. You got intrusive thoughts in the beginning, right?"

Chase nodded and connected what Anti was saying, "Oh. . . . . Let me guess. You were just thinking about killing me?"

Anti nodded, "Actor might be in my head now. Don't know for sure, though. I still just might be pissed at you assholes, I don't know" he really didn't know for sure.

"Well . . .  thanks for letting me know, I guess." Chase pat his own thighs, "Welp, I think I'm gonna go back inside. You coming?"

"Afraid I'll actually do it?" Anti teased him.

"No. Fuck off" Chase didn't want to admit it.

Anti snorted but before Chase left, he awkwardly pat his shoulder, "They are doing better by the way. My kids"

"Good. I'm sorry"

With a curt nod, Chase left the way he came out, leaving Anti under the stars.

Chase started towards his room to go down the stairs until something caught his eye. He stared off at what he thought he saw until finally deciding to go see what it was so he didn't wonder about it later.

As he walked, he came up to a side of the house he didn't remember seeing before. Untouched as if no one was allowed to go over there anymore. Chase DID see a small sign on the wall that said 'Do Not Enter' but he couldn't help but to be curious. He vaguely wondered if he'd get into trouble but kept going. What was over here that Dark kept hidden?

As he gently stepped through the darker, unlit hallway, he noticed just how different this part of the house was set up. Like it was a separate house all its own. A bedroom and bathroom on the top floor and a set of stairs that led down to a foyer. Chase was about to walk down when he heard a small noise clatter in another room.

Perking his senses and being extra quiet, he went towards the bedroom, having heard the noise from there. He kept a hand on his gun in the back of his pants just in case it was either a rat or an intruder.

Carefully, Chase stepped cleanly onto the floorboards and entered the bedroom. What he saw, he wasn't really expecting. It looked like a master bedroom. Lavish and decorated all fancy. A make-up counter on one side of the room. It looked like an old-timey room to be honest. It reminded him of Wilford and the way he talked, really. But . . . .so different.

He heard the sound again and Chase stilled.

'The closet. Coming from there.' he moved through the bedroom, feeling strange. Why didn't anyone live in this room? But it looked like someone did. Or used to. Nothing was moved out of place.

As he approached the closet, he heard small noises of humming and grew anxious. Whatever was in there was either a ghost, a humming rat or an ego messing with him.

Pulling out his gun, he broke open the door, causing the man inside to screech in surprise.

Chase put the gun down and stared at the man with a shake of his head.

"Dammit, Marv! I could have shot ya!"

The glamorous magician huffed, "Yeah! You could have, you asshole! What the hell?!"

"I thought you were something else!"

"Like what?! A ghost?"

"Maybe a rat, I don't know!"

"Why would you shoot a rat?!"

Chase grunted, "Never mind. What are you doing here? Where are we?"

Marvin sighed, "Host told me not to tell anyone else. That more than one could be dangerous"

"What?"

But the magician just rolled his eyes, "Whatever. You're here now. Remember Mark's video, 'Who Killed Markiplier?'"

"Yes. Of course."

"This is the house, right?"

"I. . . . wait, really? I thought someone else owned it and Mark was just given permission to film there?"

"Nope." Marvin shook his head, "This was the house. But I just found that out, really, like . . . . a few days ago. Host had an old book he wrote a long time ago and I skimmed through it, finding out it was about that video. He caught me, obviously and just decided to tell me about this side of the house."

"Yeah. . ." Chase nodded, "Didn't know about this. The house looks so big, anyway, you'd never know"

"Exactly. I thought, though, that after Dark's fight with Actor, this place might be useful to look through, you know?"

"Ah, I see" Chase agreed, "Dark didn't want anyone over at this side of the house. . .because it was where 'Who Killed Markiplier' was 'made'. Which means-"

"Actor lived here" Marvin finished, "This was his and his ex-wife's room"

"Huh" Chase looked around again, "Yeah that makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. But why were you in his closet?"

Marvin blushed, "I uh . . . . you know. . . just looking for evidence, man"

Chase rolled his eyes, "You were looking through his old, expensive clothing, weren't you?"

"Yes" he gave in.

"You think there's anything in this part of the house that could give us good evidence, Marv?"

The magician shrugged, "I don't know. I've been looking for a few days but haven't really found anything. If Actor took Dark's place, I'd think he'd get. . .. nostalgic or something. But no one's been in here for years."

"Hm. Maybe he's just not the nostalgic kind of guy? Sticking to character?"

Marvin shrugged again, "You remember what happened to Actor here, though?"

"Actually, no. I never paid attention to the plot of that video. Too complicated for me."

"Well-"

"Too complicated, hm?"

The both froze, looking over to see 'Dark's' looming figure at the door.

"Uh . . .. Dark!" Marvin cleared his throat, "Hey there! We were just-"

"Snooping in an area that is clearly marked not to enter?" he walked in, letting the light illuminate his face, "Breaking rules, are we?"

Chase and Marvin were both frozen stiff. They didn't know how much he heard.

"No matter" the man sighed, dragging a finger down the dusty wall, "He killed himself"

That answer shocked them out of their frozen state and Chase stuttered out, "Wh-what?"

'Dark' rolled his eyes, "Actor. You didn't know what happened to him. He killed himself. Multiple different ways until he finally fell to his death down in the foyer from the top of the stairs."

"Oh" was all Chase could say.

Marvin scratched the back of his head, "Wasn't there. . . a demon in the house that drove him crazy? Isn't that right? Got him to do it?"

'Dark' smiled softly and nodded, "Yes, actually. The demon infested his mind, consuming him. Destroyed his whole life. His marriage and career. His friendships. Then he sent out invitations to his closest friends to have them over one last time before he finally killed himself. And then in death, he made them all suffer and killed them one by one. Until Actor finally had only Celine and Damien. He didn't care for death as he thought and wanted to return. With a bang, of course. And Darkiplier was made"

"Y-you were. . .. you were made" Marvin clarified.

"Yes." Dark shrugged it off as if it were nothing, "Now if you both are finished in here, I'd like you to leave. This part of the house is very . . .sentimental to me"

Not wasting a chance, they both left, practically running out of that part of the house as fast as they could.

"Marv" Chase finally stopped and they both breathed heavily, "You heard him, right?"

Marvin nodded, "Yeah well we already figured that wasn't Dark. PLUS . .. Host told ME that the demon of the house took Actor over BEFORE his death and AFTER to create Dark. That was why Host couldn't see Actor after that. Because it wasn't him. It was a demon."

"So what is that thing, then? Is it Actor or the demon? Or is Actor the demon now?"

Marvin walked with him more down the stairs to get farther away.

"I think it's both"

Chase flinched as he woke up the next day in bed. He was grateful at least. He thought 'Dark' would for sure kill them last night for going into that part of the house.

He could have easily done it.

So why didn't he?

Oh well. He couldn't think about that right now. They had to find evidence so Anti would believe them. Their word didn't really mean anything without evidence.

As he walked downstairs with Bing to the dining room, he found Anti at 'Dark's' side but oddly enough, they weren't talking to each other. Or. . . 'Dark' wasn't talking to Anti. It was weird to see and hopefully Anti saw it, too.

That day, Chase, Jackie and Marvin were two of the Septics who had to go filming again with the Ipliers. Hopefully this gave Anti some time to think more.

Chase was sitting by Marvin at the studio while everyone else was busy. They both knew a bit more on what was up so Chase trusted him to help him out.

"What should we do, do you think? You wanna go back there again at lunch while he's here?"

Chase motioned to 'Dark' as he was reading a script, presumably ignoring Mark who was trying to say something to him.

"Do you think we should tell Mark what happened?" Marvin asked.

"No. He won't believe it anyways. Actor is better at his namesake than we all thought if not even Host can see the difference. Plus Mark looked in his head, I thought. I don't think he can really see it, either"

"You're right" Marvin nodded, "I have a plan, Chase. Meet me outside at lunch."

While that was happening, yes, Anti was thinking about this morning. It was odd that Dark didn't start a conversation with him like usual.

'But maybe he was just thinking about his scene today? That could be it'

But deep inside, he knew something was wrong.

Vaguely, he remembered something about Dark's cane but couldn't grasp what it was.

Anti sighed heavily. He was in his room, hanging out by himself. He didn't want anyone asking about him anymore. He was sick of it. He hadn't been himself, either, today after last night.

Mulling over what had happened so many years ago again.

Of course he regretted everything.

Of course he knew he should have tried harder to make them listen to him.

But he didn't. He let his anger take control and forced himself to be the villain they expected him to be. He was so stupid back then and he knew that.

But why did they all seem to forgive him? Chase was just now forgiving him but why? He knew they shouldn't.

And Sean . . . . . Anti didn't want to think about it anymore. He didn't want to think about ANYTHING anymore! Everything was just so complicated and weird.

He didn't know what to do about it. He was never good with feelings.

Before he could think anymore on anything, though, a loud sound in the hall startled him.

"Oh, what the hell  is it now?!"

Chase met Marvin outside but before Chase could say anything, Marvin teleported them to the manor.

In his defense, Marvin explained, "I didn't want him to hear us just in case he's been keeping tabs, you know?"

"Okay. . .so what's the plan? Should we have included Jackie in this? I feel like we should have."

"If we did, then there wouldn't be any Septics at the studio and that would look even MORE odd. Just us for now but I have a plan to prove that's not Dark!"

"Okay" Chase listened closely, "What is it, then?"

"Well it's a demon, right?"

"Y-yeah?"

Marvin hopped in place excitedly, "We perform an exorcism!"

.

.

.

.

"Oh . . . . great"
