Sneaky Rat or Clever Snake?
Back at the cabin in the void, Damien and Dark were practically wrestling each other at the door.
Dark saw from the cabin's mirror what the demon was doing to Anti and he wasn't about to let that shit happen.
"Goddammit, Dark! Get back in the bed!" Damien was barely hanging onto him, wrapping his arms around his chest from behind to stop him.
But Dark was bound and determined, struggling with all he had no matter how vain.
"No! I ca-can't let that IDIOT be taken over by that fucking thing!" he whipped himself around to try and break loose, "Just let me go! I-I can make it!"
Meanwhile Celine was watching the two in the corner of the room in her chair by the fire. She sighed and rolled her eyes, "It won't do any good, Dark. You'll die if you go in the state you're in and you know it"
"I don't care!" Dark growled, "I have to fucking try!"
Finally, he broke loose from Damien's grasp, "HA!" He rushed to the door stumbling and was about to open it when he felt a hand at the back of his shirt collar.
"Man you're even more stubborn than me sometimes, Dark. Don't you believe in Anti?" Celine threw him back onto the bed with effort as Dark had used up a lot of his energy in fighting Damien.
"More stubborn than you?" Damien chuckled, "That's saying something."
Dark flopped onto the bed with a grunt, "Dammit, Celine. . . . It's not that I don't. But he NEEDS me. I can't just. . . I have to do something. Damn Actor to hell! He KNOWS and . . . ." tears formed in his eyes, "I swear if something happens to Anti . . . . I WILL kill Actor. I'll burn down the entire mansion if I have to"
"Hopefully with no one else in it" Damien brought up, making Dark glare at him.
"Why can't you say anything to him through the damn cane? Liek you did with Chase?"
Damien sighed, "Too much power. In the cabin, there's only so much we can do . . . but it's better than being out there. Especially now that the demon is free from Actor."
"Tch" Dark scoffed, "But now that it's attaching itself to Anti . . . it'll be even stronger"
"It doesn't look like it wants to kill anyone yet, though" Celine pointed out, "If it did, then it would have made Anti do it effortlessly by now"
"Actor's your ex-husband, Celine." Dark pointed out, "Now that the demon is out of him, is there anything we can do to get to him?"
Celine rolled her eyes, "I don't care if the demon's out of him or not. He's still a conceited asshole"
"What if we try Wil again?" Damien suggested, "Anti DID manage to knock some sanity in him for a few moments. What if we-"
"It won't matter" Dark shook his head, "Wil's ability to travel within the void are limited. Unknown. He can't control where he ends up. It'll be a shot in the dark finding me"
"Anti can" Celine pointed out, "Mark says he can't but we all know otherwise."
"He can't, Celine" Dark was stern, "The last time he did was to try and fight me years ago. Ended up getting sucked into the void's mind games immediately. The demon found him a fun toy back then, too"
"Is that why he's so susceptible to the demon, too?" Damien asked, "It would make sense. At least Chase was able to fight back a bit more. But Anti . . . to him, it sounds exactly like he's the one thinking those things. He can't tell the difference"
"That's why I'm so worried" Dark hissed at them, "There isn't much time until something horrible happens"
"Hm" Damien thought on it some more, "What about the magician? Marvin? Certainly he'd be able to somehow with a spell. He can teleport, can't he?"
"I don't know." Dark answered honestly, "Not like we can get a message out anyway, though. You said we couldn't use the cane again"
"I'm sure we'll think of some way" Damien was strangely optimistic.
Celine walked away and looked back at the mirror again. She was watching Actor rest in his bed. He looked so peaceful and . . . not so douchy?
She knew the demon had contorted him, making him into something he wasn't. Used him like its puppet for its own fun. But she couldn't help but feel angry still at him. If he didn't tell someone then Anti could do something really terrible. If he DID tell someone then the demon would most likely go straight back to him and wreak more havoc. Or it'd slip away and they'd have no way at all to get Dark back.
She understood Actor's reluctance . . . but boy was she just so frustrated with that man right now.
But what could you do?
It wasn't his fault he was like this. Trapped together with that monster.
'Why'd you have to make that deal, Mark? Not only that but you got that McLoughlin boy to do it too. You've both created such a mess'
Finally after a few minutes, Dark fell asleep. Using so much energy in trying to escape, he was even weaker than before.
If a miracle didn't happen soon, they'd all be screwed.
Chase sighed, "I should go talk to him. We just started to get along. I don't want things to get messed up again"
"Maybe I should go with you" Wilford played with his mustache, "We usually get along. My shootin' buddy's been pent up lately."
"I don't think either of you should go bothering him" Yandere piped up, "Anti just needs some time to vent himself out. This isn't the first time he's snapped at anyone"
"B-but he's never done that at Wil b-before" Eric pointed out.
"Guess you're right. Fine. If anyone's gonna go, though, at least take something sweet. He might be less angry, then"
"I'll go grab a coffee popsicle. He seems to like those things" Chase grunted and walked into the kitchen. Coming out with the entire box, he motioned for Wil, "You coming with?"
"Where?"
Everyone was about to groan when Wilford's lightbulb finally went off, "Ah! Anti! Yes! Okay!"
They started off upstairs to look for him and Chase took a deep breathe. He hadn't been alone with Wilford since that night he shot himself in the kitchen.
"So uh . . . about this Celine girl. I take it you two knew each other? Isn't she one of the spirits that live inside Dark or something?"
Wilford's mood shifted but it wasn't angry, "Ah Celine. . . . . she was a lover of mine back in the day! . . . . . . Beautiful woman. Such a fiesty thing." he chuckled in remembrance, "So stubborn and strong. Although, she was married back then, too"
Chase gawked at him, "Oh yeah. . . . didn't she and Actor have a thing?"
Wilford nodded. They looked up and down the halls for their friend but there wasn't any luck so they started walking towards the 'other' part of the house.
"Actor is her ex husband. Used to be the best couple in town. They were perfect for each other. Until that blasted demon seeped through. Did you know Actor was Mark's very first ego? That's why the demon took to him so well"
"Wow. You sure do know I a lot. I can't even really remember who the first ego of the Septics was. I think it was Jackie? Not sure"
Suddenly Wilford stopped, a haunted look in his eyes, "Why are we over here again?"
Chase sighed. He really shouldn't be too surprised, "Anti. He's all worked up. We wanted to check on him and see if he was alright."
Wilford nodded, "Good. Good."
"Can I ask . . . what happened to you? Weren't you something else before? Before Dark's .. . birth?"
Wilford suddenly saluted out of nowhere, "Colonel William J. Barnum at your service! I- oh where are my little glasses and hat?"
"Uh-"
"Oh yes, that's right! That's right! Nevermind. Now where'd Anti go off to?" he fiddled with his pink mustache again.
"Maybe we should search some of the rooms?"
Chase and Wilford jumped out of their skins at the sudden new voice and whipped around.
Only to see Eric standing there.
"Eric!" Chase tried to calm his heart down, "You scared us! Where'd you come from?"
"I. . . I've been walking with you guys the whole time"
"You HAVE!?" Wilford looked surprised as well.
"Oh. . . sorry, man" Chase apologized, "Didn't hear ya. Yeah uh . . let's search deeper. Poke through some rooms. Just make sure not to startle him I guess if you find him"
Skulking through the halls, Wilford became more and more in tune with his surroundings. He seemed to definitely know where he was going which was surprising.
Eric whispered to Chase, "Dark never lets Wilford come into this part of the house. Says it might trigger him into a bad state of mind"
Chase gawked at him, "Why didn't anyone tell me or stop him, then!?"
Eric shrugged, "He seems to be doing fine"
Chase sighed and just kept holding the box of popsicles in his hands. If they just so happened to run into Anti freaking out and these things worked . . . . he really would have wished he knew years ago. He then pictured himself throwing cookies and sweets at Anti to get him to stop being such a bastard. He slightly chuckled at himself, remembering him doing that as a joke one time to Stacey when she was on her period.
He just hoped Anti wasn't in a bad mood anymore. Even though he was starting to forgive him, that didn't mean he didn't remember all the crazy shit he had done. He hoped it was just a small tantrum. Eric seemed confident at least Anti was just worried and frustrated. Depressed.
Chase could understand that.
Then out of no where, Chase and Eric realized something.
They could no longer hear or see Wilford anywhere.
Anti was still alone in his thoughts. Or at least what he thought was his own thoughts.
Flashes of memories burned in his mind. Things he had done to his fellow egos.
How satisfied he had felt.
Why did he ever regret doing those things?
Outside Actor's study, he could hear someone humming very loudly.
His breathing picked up and he felt excited. In the corner of the room there was a kurio cabinet. On top of it were small antique knives that looked like miniature swords with jewels in them. Glitching, he suddenly held one of them in his hand. He liked the one that had an emerald in it.
He pictured blood on it for some reason. He didn't know whose. Didn't care, either. He wanted to see it, though.
By why would he just kill for no reason?
But there WAS a reason. The Septics were in the house this morning. All of them. And soon Sean and Mark would be coming over.
Briefly he thought about killing the both of the creators and an hunger burned inside of him.
"Anti-boy!" he heard a familiar voice. So excited and innocent, "Where are ya!? I know I probably said something to ya not so nice! Where'd ya go, ya scamp! Not supposed to be here!"
'He doesn't care. Should just send him off with Dark. Bastards. Just. . . USING me. They don't actually care. Never did'
He walked out of the study room, coming face to face with Wilford.
"Ah there ya are, Anti! Been looking all over fer ya!"
But Wilford didn't notice the murderous intent in his eyes. Glowing green and sparking like he'd explode, the small knife shaking in his hand.
Anti made the first move and lunged at Wilford but in a blink of an eye he was gone!
The glitch looked around but couldn't see him anywhere. He turned at the sound of a 'pop'.
"Well that wasn't very sporting of ya!" Wilford appeared behind him and grabbed the hand that was holding the knife, "Think you can tussel with me, huh?" he just laughed, thinking it was a game.
But Anti growled, still out of his mind. Just as crazy as Wilford right now.
Anti glitched, coming behind Wilford but the Iplier teleported again. Anti suspected where he'd go, however and whirled behind himself, managing to catch Wilford off his guard, slicing his cheek just a tad.
"Ouchie! Now why'd you go and do that!?" Wilford pouted but before Anti could lunge again, he gripped both of his hands almost putting him in a sort of hold to stop him.
Wilford actually looked into his eyes seriously for a moment and could sense something was definitely wrong.
Reclaiming a bit of sanity again, Wilford smiled gently at him, "Easy there, pal. I know you're angry. Everyone is. You're just like Dark though and express very outwardly, don't you? You lose your cool? Like me, too, sometimes. That's why you're an honorary Iplier, boy-o"
Down the hall, Wil could faintly hear Chase and Eric running towards them, having heard the commotion, "Now come on. You don't want your friends seeing ya like this, do you? Everything will be alright, I'm sure. Ya just have to have a little faith."
Slowly, he forced Anti's hands down even though the glitch did not really appear phased by his words.
Just as Chase and Eric came up to them, though, Wilford nicked the knife out of his hand but kept his grip so he couldn't lunge. He made it look as if they were just talking.
Although Anti still LOOKED like he'd bite his throat out, baring his teeth.
"There you guys are!" Chase shouted, "Wil, why'd you run off like that!? Geez, man. Anti! We brought some sweets for ya. Eric said sugar calms ya down, right? I don't blame ya"
But even though he tried to appear nice, Chase could see the crazed anger in Anti's eyes as well. He didn't seem phased by the sweets.
"A-anti?" Eric asked him, "It's okay to be upset. We don't like to see you hurt, is all"
Anti's nose twitched and he suddenly froze. His body tensed up, feeling something coming.
"Well, well! Look's like there's a party going on over here! And I wasn't invited?"
They all looked over to see Actor grinning at them, hands cuffed behind his back. Marvin was right behind him, however, making sure he didn't try anything funny.
"Actor . . . " Chase growled, "Why the fuck is he out of the room, Marv?"
"What? He said he had to piss!" Marvin defended himself, "What are you guys all doing out here in the hall?"
"I couldn't help but to hear a little of the conversation" Actor piped up again, looking Anti straight in the eyes, "So sorry things don't always go according to plan"
But something about the way he said that . . . was odd. As if he wasn't actually talking to Anti.
Wilford snuffed, "Actor. . . . Anti, don't listen to him. He's nothing but a scoundrel!"
Actor just rolled his eyes but suddenly Anti blinked and he almost looked. . . . . weirded out. Like he just appeared there and had almost no recoletion why. He saw the nick on Wilford's cheek and the knife in his hand, however, and could put two and two together.
Then he remembered. Sort of. He must have snapped and lost who he was for a moment.
"Anyways" Chase alerted him, "Brought ya some sweets, dude. You like these things, right?" he showed him the popsicles.
Anti perked up and smiled a little, nodding, "Y-yeah . . . ." he took one and unwrapped it but before he bit into it, he swallowed, "Thanks"
Eric smiled as well as everyone else and Actor looked like he was going to puke.
"I still have to piss, magician. Can we hurry?"
"Way to ruin a moment" Marvin commented, "See you guys later. Google said he'd take my spot in a few hours."
"Kay, man. See ya" Chase waved, "Man, that Actor's a pissy little snake, isn't he?"
Wilford actually looked huffy, "More like an arrogant, dirty rat"
Chase snorted, "Let's go back downstairs, yeah? You wanna practice throwing shit at some targets, Anti?"
Anti, meanwhile was sucking on his popsicle deep in thought but nodded mutely.
He was just about to kill them all a few moments ago. His heart stung. He hated himself for thinking that way. He knew Wilford stopped him, though. He owed him thanks later and an apology. He hated apologies but Wilford. . . . Wilford deserved it. Even if he wouldn't remember why.
As they all left the other side of the house, Actor stood in the bathroom alone. Marvin knew he couldn't get away at least after the spell he placed on him after taking off the cuffs so he gave him some privacy.
Actor never had to go to the bathroom. He could feel the demon using Anti and no matter how much he wanted nothing to do with it.. . . . he had to do something.
Looking at himself in the mirror, he remembered the old days and flicked his hair just right to fix it. Actor sighed and wondered briefly if he should tell anyone again but shook his head. He could just get in the demon's way again like he just did. He wanted to be himself for at least a little while longer. He deserved that at least. Didn't he?
He knew that was total shit but shrugged. He briefly wondered about Dark and Damien and . . . . Celine. Actor knew they were in a tight spot, too but he couldn't travel there himself. Only the demon allowed him to and that brought him back to his earlier dilemma.
'Maybe I can annoy the demon into leaving? I feel kind of bad but don't I deserve a little R&R after all the shit I've had to go through? Mark at least owes me that. Piece of shit asshole doing this to me in the first place. I was his first. . . oh nevermind. Don't dwell on that shit again. For now, I just have to keep an eye on Anti as best I can. I can at least do that.'
"Hey are you freaking done yet, man!?" Marvin banged on the door, "What you doing?! Peeing a fooking river?!"
Actor sighed, 'These Septic egos. All so dramatic and uncouth.'
