Hade's scan has confirmed it. After we destroyed the source of this evil force, there were no more signs of the Dark Anomalies in the Underworld. Whatever presence it had harbored there, was no longer present. When we returned to the surface, I had Zazu fly around for a quick areal scan. There was nothing left of the Dark Anomalies in the Animal Kingdom. They had simply vanished from the land completely.
But it wasn't just there. There were no traces of them anywhere in the World of Disney. So was it actually true? Had we truly defeated the Dark Anomalies once and for all? Mickey and the rest of the Wizard Council believed it so. They knew more about this than I did, so I went along with it and believed them, and so did my friends and cousins.
Mickey dismissed us from duty, allowing us all to get some rest after our victory as they performed final scans of the world and formulated on what exactly to do next. We said our goodbyes to Simba and the others before taking our leave. Ben, Sebastian, Kaitlyn, and Santiago all either stayed behind in the World of Disney, or they went off to their homes back in our world.
My cousins and I returned to our hotel room. Once the teleportation wore off on them, they looked around meeting each others gazes with wide smiles on their faces. A knock came upon our door, startling us. It was our grandpa. He was glad to see that I was doing alright, and that he went up to check on us. Since I was feeling better, the family and I decided to resume our adventure at Hollywood Studios and enjoyed our time there for the rest of the day before returning back to the hotel.
After eating dinner, we all gathered by the pool sitting at the nearby patio. My cousins and I had our own table, playing a round of Pirate Dice while the adults conversed at their own table, sharing drinks.
Vincent's mother came towards us, handing us each a drink. "How's the game, guys?"
"Going great, mom!" The boy smiled upon receiving a kiss on the temple from his guardian.
"Let me know if you pirates need anything," she giggled before strutting away to the adult table.
"Yar!" He chuckled. The boy took a peek at his dice before tipping the brown cup back down to cover them up. "Three twos,"
Poppy took a peek inside her cup before looking back up with the hardest of poker faces. "Four fours," She grinned.
"Oh snap, bringing out the big guns," Jam laughed.
"Ava, what's your play?" Ty questioned as he looked over in my direction. When he noticed my slightly zoned out state, his facial expression changed as he gently shook my shoulder. "Ava-Dog?"
"Huh?" I flinched, shaking my head tiredly. "Is it my turn already?"
"Are you okay?" Ty asked with concern. "You've been somewhat quiet since we came back from--" He paused momentarily, looking back to make sure the adults couldn't hear him before leaning over to my side to whisper, "you know where."
"Have I really?" I raised a brow at him.
"Something wrong?" Ty's older brother suggested.
"I'm not sure," I spoke. "It's just something about that battle back in The Pride Lands when my friends and I fought the Dark Anomalies,"
"But, you guys defeated him right?" Vincent recalled.
"Yeah! Evil force gone, the world is saved," Poppy simply elaborated. "Game over, right?"
"But that's just it though," I retaliated, taking a sip of my drink with uncertainty. "I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there was just something about it that made it so... easy."
"Easy?" Poppy repeated.
"I mean, my friends have been searching for the Dark Anomalies source for a long time, and we somehow just instantly stumble upon it while fighting it as it tries to escape?" I explained. "It just didn't feel right. All the times before that when we've went up against them felt completely different,"
"Well, whatever it is, I'm sure Mickey and the others will figure something out eventually right?" Vincent replied reassuringly.
"Or, perhaps Avalynn is just being paranoid and overthinking things," Jam suggested, a teasing grin on his face. "As she tends to do once in a while,"
I scoffed playfully at the eldest cousin, flashing a smirk in return. "Maybe, maybe not,"
"Well until something else comes up, let's just sit back and relax with the time we have," Poppy proclaimed. "It's your turn, Ava."
"Right then," I straightened myself up in my chair, peeking at my dice. "Where were we at, again?"
"Four fours," Ty reminded.
My eyes widened upon hearing that. Looking at my dice again, I realized my odds weren't quite that good. "Uh... four fives?"
Ty looked a bit skeptical at my call. I don't blame him, because out of the five of us I was the worst player at this game. My bets weren't that good and I was always the first to lose all of my dice no matter what I did!
"Well, considering all five of us are actually here to play this, those numbers do seem realistic," He theorized. "I'll roll with it,"
I sighed with relief. Looks like I was going to be able to keep my dice this round.
Ty looked at his dice before glancing back up towards us. "Five sixs,"
"No way," Jam shook his head with disbelief. "That's way too high,"
"Then say the magic words, brother," Ty pestered with a grin.
Jam cracked his knuckles before grabbing the top of his cup. "Everyone ready?" Myself and the rest of the gang followed suit before the eldest cousin grinned. "Never trust a pirate!"
The five of us each removed our cups, revealing all of the dice to each other. We quickly counted how many sixes were present out of all of our piles, and what do you know! Ty's prediction was true!
"Ha!" He cheered, pointing a finger at his brother, "I win!"
"Aw, come on!" Jam laughed with a whine as he pulled one dice out of his pile, tossing it inside the game box that was placed in the middle of the table.
"I'm just glad I wasn't the first to lose my dice," I commented. "As usual..."
As we were about to begin the next round of the game, I felt a vibration in my pant pocket. Setting my cup down, I pulled the Kimunicatoer out to notice the screen going off.
"What's up, Ava?" Ty questioned, noticing my distraction.
"Mickey's trying to call me," I replied. "But I can't exactly answer it here, not with our parents and grandparents around,"
"Go a head and answer it, we'll cover for you," Poppy smiled.
"Thanks guys," I sighed with relief.
I shoved the Kimunicater back into my pocket as I stood up fro my seat, quickly making my way across the pool deck and towards the residence of the hotel. Once it looked like I was far enough, I hid behind a corner to make sure nobody else would either see or hear me. Once the cost was clear, I brought the Kimunicater out from my pocket once more, answering the call.
Mickey Mouse's face appeared on screen. He appeared to happy, so it must be good news. "Hiya Avalyn, how are you and you cousins holding up?"
"We're doing just fine, Mickey," I replied with assurance. "How are things on your end?"
"That's why I am calling you," He stated. "Things are great!"
"Really?" I asked with surprise, my voice sounding hopeful. "So the Dark Anomalies are gone? Like, really gone?"
"According to our most recent scan, they are!" Mickey exclaimed.
My lips formed into a smile as I sighed with relief, leaning back against the wall as I ran the fingers of my free hand through my hair. "I can't believe it... we actually did it,"
Now I was beginning to think that I was worrying for absolutely nothing. Mickey said so himself. The Dark Anomalies are actually gone. My friends and I had defeated them. That means that I had fulfilled my duties as the Chosen One, right? The one who was supposed to be the answer to the threat of the Dark Anomalies.
And yet, why do I feel the tiniest amount of doubt? We had been hunting down its creations all this time, and then just like that we find and defeat its source? All in the blink of an eye? But who am I to judge the mouse? He knew more about them than I did.
"Since now our world is finally returning to a time of peace, we're throwing a party to celebrate our victory," He explained. "Everyone is invited, you, your friends, and your cousins too!"
"Wow, that's exciting news," I laughed ecstatically. "When is the party?"
"Tomorrow night! Well, your time anyways. We still need to do some re-construction and clean up in various parts of the World, but we should be ready by then," Mickey elaborated.
"That's good to hear, Mickey," I replied. "Where will the party be taking place?"
"At Cinderella's Castle, of course!" He performed his signature laugh.
I face palmed upon hearing that, giggling. "Of course it is,"
"You and your cousins have fun, and get plenty of rest tonight," Mickey advised. "I realize that perhaps the five of you don't exactly have the proper clothing needed to attend a ball?"
"We didn't exactly bring dresses or tux's with us, so you would be right," I sighed with a slight roll of my eyes.
Mickey did have a point. The last thing we expected was to travel to an alternate world, fight an magical evil being, and then celebrate with a giant ball straight afterwords! What in the heck were we going to to wear?
"I've got you covered," Mickey reassured her with a thumbs up. "I've made appointments for you and your friends to get tailored and pick out what you'll wear for the ball,"
"Thanks for the save," I thanked. "I'm sure once I tell them, they'll be looking forward to it for sure,"
"The appointment is at noon, so don't be late," He ordered.
"Roger that, Mickey," I nodded with understanding, waving at the screen. "Have a good night,"
"You too!" He waved back at my before ending the call, the screen turning black.
*********
When I told my cousins about the ball, they were beyond ecstatic. For a split second I thought Poppy was going to faint. Jam was so excited that he was going to bring his phone to the ball so he could vlog it, but then he remembered that he wasn't suppose to record anything from the World of Disney. Otherwise he would have to feel Ben's wrath again.
My family and I woke up the next morning, spending our time at the Animal Kingdom, the last remaining park that we had not yet traveled to on this trip. Sadly to our dismay, the Mount Everest roller coaster was closed for repairs. The adults were confused as to what went wrong, but my cousins and I knew the real reason why it was shut down.
We instead enjoyed the rest of the attractions the park had to offer, and got excited we when spotted construction beginning for the new Pandora park. Rumour has it that it will include a ride where you get to ride the Jaborwalkies. You know, those giant flying dinosaur like birds from the Avatar movie? Pandora is set to open in the late spring of 2017. Only 2 years away.
Once our morning was well spent, it was time for the 5 of us to travel back to the World of Disney to get ready for the ball tonight. Talk about timing too, because we were late for Mickey's appointment! We all made an excuse to the adults that we all wanted to ride the Water Rapids attraction again. Since they didn't want to wait in the long line up, they let us go and notified us to meet them back at the Tree of Life when we were done.
Once they left, my cousins and I quickly ran off, finding a place to lay low and hide from the rest of the guests and cast members. I brought out the Kimunicater and everyone placed their hands on it before transporting us to the alternate realm.
Since we had teleported from the Animal Kingdom theme park, we arrived back at the village that was once destroyed by the Dark Anomalies. The place looked completely brand new! It was lively with people as children squired about in the streets, men and woman chatting and working.
Upon our arrival, we were met with an anxiously waiting Mickey Mouse and Fairy Godmother at the town square. Ben, Sebastian, Kaitlyn, and Santiago were with them as well.
"Look who finally decided to show up," Kaitlyn commented, hands on her hips.
"Sorry we're late," I apologized. "We lost track of time,"
"Now, now, no excuses young lady," Fairy Godmother pestered. "Now that you're here, we can start get you all ready,"
"Fellas, you're with me," Mickey instructed. "Girls, you'll be with Fairy Godmother,"
"So where are we going?" Poppy questioned with confusion as the two groups split off to their leaders.
"No time to explain, it's time to shoo," Fairy Godmother sang, waving her magic wand as white specks of magic began to fly around the four of us. "Bippity boppity boo!"
In a flash, we suddenly vanished from the village and reappeared in... a boutique? The design of the large room had a Chinese cultural feet to it.
"Whoa! That was amazing!" Poppy exclaimed, looking around the room with delight.
"Alright granny, we're ready for it! Dress, shoes, bring it!" Kaitlyn pumped with a grin, slapping her hands together.
"Nah, ah, ah, Miss Perrywinkle," The old woman lectured. "First you three need to be cleaned up,"
"What?" The three of us raised a brow at the woman as a sliding door in the back of the room opened, revealing a middle aged Chinese woman wearing a dark red robe, her hair tied back in a bun.
"I was beginning to think you weren't going to show," she teased, walking towards us.
"Here are your customers," Fairy Godmother waved towards us. "Prepare them for the fitting,"
"Of course," The woman beamed.
Suddenly, music started playing all around us. It startled Poppy as she looked about the roof aimlessly, trying to search for the source. However Kaitlyn and I remained still. Since we both have been here longer than my cousin has, we were what was about to happy. Since this is the World of Disney and all...
"Uh, what's happening?" She questioned with uncertainty.
It was time for a song!
Poppy's attention was turned towards the middle aged woman as she straightened Poppy's posture before examining her hair, then proceeded to judge the rest of our appearances.
"This is what you give me to work with?
Well honey, I've seen worse!"
With a wave of her hand, a screen suddenly appeared around the three of us. It spun around us as our clothes and shoes suddenly vanished and we were dropped into our own bubble baths that were summoned from the floor.
"We're gonna turn these sow's ears
Into a silk purse!"
We shot our heads out from the water, my teeth chattering as I rubbed my hands along my arms in a desperate mean to keep warm. "Gah, this water is freezing!"
"It would have been warmer if you guys showed up on time," Kaitlyn remarked.
"For the last time, we're--" Before I could again apologize to Kaitlyn, Fairy Godmother used her magic to splash some water over our heads to get us to stop talking.
"We'll have you washed and dried
Primped and polished
till you glow with pride
Trust my recipe for instant bride
You'll bring honor to us all!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, who said anything about us becoming brides?!" Poppy spoke up with worry.
"Relax, girl," Kaitlyn reassured her. "It's just lyrics to the song, we ain't getting married,"
When the boutique elder finished cleaning us, Fairy Godmother summoned each of us our own bath robes to put on to dry off. After that, she motioned us over to the salon area where the the Asian woman summoned the hair dressers to come over and fix up our hair.
"Wait and see
When we're through
Boys will gladly go to war for you
With good fortune
And a great hairdo
You'll bring honor to us all!"
Glancing around at the three of us, the hairdressers did an amazing job! Poppy's hair had a Twisted Crown braid, Kaitlyn had a Braided Rose bun, and finally taking a look at myself in the mirror, I noticed that my stylist worked up a French Braid Twisted bun. They looked amazing, I was absolutely star struck. Normally I kept my hair down all the time, but seeing it like this really took my breath away.
Just when I thought we were done, three more elders came in with make-up kits, setting them to the side as they examined our faces before getting to work.
"When we're through
You can't fail
Like a lotus blossom
Soft and pale
How could any fellow
Say "No Sale"
You'll bring honor to us all!"
When the make-up was applied, all the workers at the boutique turned our seats around to face Fairy Godmother before they took a step back, clapping their hands together as they bowed in respect. "You are ready," their head of the boutique spoke.
Taking a glance at each other, Poppy, Kaitlyn, and myself sat up from our seats, bowing back at the women before they all left the room. We stepped towards Fairy Godmother who brought her wand out, the white specks of magic coming to life all around it.
"Now then, are you three ready?" She asked.
"I was born ready," Kaitlyn grinned.
"What do you have for us?" I questioned with curiosity.
"I believe you three will enjoy the pieces I have chosen for you," She answered with confidence. "Ready?"
The three of us held each others hands, standing firm as we braced for the wave of magic to come our way.
"Bippity boppity boo!"
I watched as the white glow of magic shot itself out of the wand and flew towards us, making circles around us. I felt a wave of energy our robes magically transformed into our dresses. It was unbelievable!
Poppy's dress was a knee length white and bright green mixed dress with a X like cross around the neck that exposed the shoulders, golden glitter along the top of the skirt with ballerina like knee high heel boots.
Kaitlyn's dress was a beautifully long dark purple that stretched down to her feet. You could say it was pretty much a purple version of Elsa's dress, but this one seemed to have more elegance to it. Open at the shoulders, she had a silk cape that connected with her sleeves, flowing down along her back, with two sashes around the skirt, and white glowing highlights along the corset and rim of the sleeves.
Last but certainly not least, there was my dress. I had to admit, no words could describe how I reacted upon seeing it. This one completely blew my prom dress out of the water! The dress Fairy Godmother prepared for me was a stunning pink and white dress that went down to my feet, exposed the shoulders with a v-neck, gold laces around the correst and white lace like sleeves along my arms.
"Wow," Poppy whistled breathlessly. "Now I know how Cinderella felt when you gave her her dress,"
"Do you like them?" Fairy Godmother asked, sounding hopeful.
"Like them? I think I can speak for everyone when I say, we love them," I smiled.
"Agreed," Kaitlyn smirked, admiring herself. "I can for sure work with this. Angelina Jolie, eat your heart out!"
"Thank you so much, Fairy Godmother," I praised, carefully making my way over to her as I gave her a hug as a token of my appreciation.
"Oh you are very welcome, deary," she replied with a sweet smile as she returned the gesture. She pulled back from the hug, motioning towards the front door of the boutique. "Now then, shall we be heading to the ball?"
"Wait, there's no way it's been that long already, has it?" Poppy questioned with surprise.
"Why do you think they sang the song?" Kaitlyn teased. "They needed something to do in order to pass the time,"
"So how are we getting to the ball?" I asked.
Fairy Godmother advised us to follow her outside. Once we got a whiff of the fresh air, the alternate reality's sun coming down as it displayed a beautiful yellow-orange dusk sky, she waved her magic wand and summoned a beautiful golden carriage with horses and a driver.
Kaitlyn snickered, playfully nudging my arm. "Did you really have to ask her of all people?"
I shrugged, chuckling, "Alright, shame on me,"
"Now hurry along you three," The elderly fairy pestered, gently pushing towards their mode of transportation. "Mickey and the boys should be waiting for you just in front of the palace by now,"
The three of us piled inside the carriage, taking a seat as the driving politely shut the door behind us. I poked my head through the window of the door, waving at the elderly woman. "Thanks again, Fairy Godmother!"
"Have fun!" She exclaimed, waving back before poofing out of thin air, white specks of her magic twinkling down to the ground.
The carriage bolted forward as it began its journey to Cinderella's Castle. I hands suddenly began to shake anxiously. How would the guys look? How would Santiago react to seeing her all dressed up like this? Who would they all meet at the ball? All of these thoughts raced through my mind as I impatiently waited for the ride to be over, so we could celebrate our well deserved victory.
********
The Man was in his office, adjusting his tie as he looked out at the view of his window that overlooked the entire World of Disney. He glanced down at Cinderella's castle, watching as numerous characters began to fill the palace.
"Zazu!" He called.
"Yes, sir?" The bird squeaked, perching himself on the desk.
"Will the Wizards be attending the ball?" The Man questioned.
"Indeed," The bird nodded.
"I'd like for you to send a message to Mickey," He advised. "Tell him I seek audience with The Chosen One as soon as possible,"
"During the ball, sir?" Zazu clarified with uncertainty.
"Give her a few minutes to take in her surroundings, then bring her here," The Man ordered. "It is of great importance that I see her tonight."
Zazu paused for a brief moment before nodding his head, bowing at the Master of this realm. "Of course,"
Flapping his wings, Zazu left the room as the doors sealed themselves behind him. Once he was gone, The Man walked back to his desk. He opened one of the side drawers, pulling out the letter that was sent to him from Mickey again. He had already read it dozens of times, and he's enchanted to read it a dozen more after what has happened in the Pride Lands.
He looked back out the window, clutching the paper in his hand. "I know you're still out there... watching, waiting..."
The question was, when would he finally reveal himself?
